not just some dude. The chief designer.

Ferrari appears to be pretty strong again. I have seen Hamilton race in the wet in lower classes of racing and the dude can drive in the wet So I'm putting my money on Hamilton this weekend eventhough Ferrari probably has the best car.

Honda might also be involved in the scandal btw, not much can be said about anything untill the investigation is finished though.

Traction control levels the field, a lot.

I hope these are just rumors cause the Mclaren Chief designer has to be a total dumbass to actually give out 500 pages of classified Ferrari documents for photocopying.

quote:

Photocopying led to Ferrari investigation

Suspicions over Mike Coughlan's role in Stepneygate may have been sparked when an eagle-eyed shop assistant spotted Ferrari badges on documents he sought to photocopy at a commercial printing shop in Woking. Ferrari confirmed on Thursday that they had only begun legal action against Coughlan, McLaren's chief designer, after a tip-off from 'a third party outside Formula One racing'.

'The latest speculation, from sources close to Ferrari but not officially denied by the Scuderia, is that Coughlan may have aroused suspicion by taking the bundle of Ferrari documents to a photocopying shop within the past two weeks. According to one source, the shop assistant noticed the documents were classified and were stamped with Ferrari's famous Prancing Horse badge and this person may have informed Ferrari,' reports The Times.

With F1's rumour-mill in full swing, the newspaper speculates that the espionage scandal 'featured far more classified material than was first thought'. Up to 500 pages of information were allegedly passed on by Nigel Stepney, Ferrari's disenchanted mechanic, to Coughlan, 'providing him with a comprehensive picture of Ferrari's activities on the track and in the design studio.' The package reputedly 'included technical details and performance data on the Ferrari F2007, this season's race car, information about key engineers, details of race strategies, the preparation of cars, development plans for the future, test results and standards used in quality control.' The exchange allegedly took place at Port Ginesta in Spain, in late April when the two teams were both testing in Barcelona.

the latest forecast for the weekend is dry

I'm hoping that Hamilton can win his home GP.

This scandal thing is pretty interesting too! I'm curious to see how it all plays out.

edit: this was pmoisse posting on Kate's account

After Massa stalling on the grid it was up to the Iceman to lead his Ferrari to a superb victory. Massa put in fair effort climbing back in top 5. The championsship is ever so open for a Ferrari vs McLaren title.

Posted by pmoisse on Jul-08-2007 16:19:

Both Ferrari's were super fast today. They looked way more planted through the fast sweepers.

Hamilton started on the wrong tire, I think. Still, he was fast enough to keep his streak of podiums going.

Kimi was on another level today.

Posted by stren on Jul-08-2007 16:49:

I'm very happy with the race results. Hamilton finally made a mistake, and so did Massa, and Robert capitalized on that one.

I was watching on German TV so had no fucking idea what was going on.

I thought it was a weird podium, none of the drivers really seemed pleased (but then Kimi's always like that)...........

its became mundane for them. Every other race its Kimi, Massa, Lewis, Alonso, just the combinations change.

I have to watch the Chinese feed on the net, and yeah its pretty hard to understand whats going on.

One quick and great remedy: pull up the live timing from f1.com, and you will have all the info you need for a race. I never want to go back to watching a race with out it.

lol

I get the Dutch feed over here.

If I can fight my g/f off of the computer, I can get the live timing.

I really need a 2nd laptop

Posted by Orko on Jul-09-2007 20:54:

I must say, watching in Chinese certainly did beat watching the ITV coverage later in the day.

Fuck you ITV, and your over exaggerating. Just tell me whats going on, and leave the gushing at home.

The F1.com live timing can certainly replace james allen and martin brundle.

No US GP next year. WTF

quote:
Indianapolis will not host a grand prix on the 2008 Formula One calendar, according to track spokesman Ron Green.

The circuit has hosted the race for the last eight years but its future has been under threat for some time.

A deadline for extending the contract passed today with officials unable to reach an agreement.

It is unclear if another track will host the race or if America will be dropped from the schedule altogether.

Formula One supremo Bernie Ecclestone and IMS chief executive Tony George twice met during last month's US GP to discuss the prospect of a new contract.

The original deal that brought the grand prix back to America in 2000 expired in 2006, when a one-year extension was signed.

George had hoped to secure a long-term deal, imposing a deadline of today by which time all parties had to agree.

However, with that deadline arriving, it seems certain there is no new deal on the table, with George likely to confirm the situation later today

I was planning on going there next year.

Bernie is a fool IMO not to have INDIANAPOLIS

IF he takes out these proper race tracks one by one from F1, i definately wont like to watch it or follow it anymore

What do you mean by "proper" race ? The fan following in US is very limited. It is not a very successful business venture. They have been going at it for the past 8 years...and I don't see an increase in the number of americans taking interest in this sport.

exactly. The fan turnout is poor, and quite frankly the infield track is terrible. Those two slow corners totally ruin the flow and quite frankly I am happy there won't be an Indy race next season.

Yep, I agree.

The oval is the only "proper race track" at Indy.

Posted by Orko on Jul-14-2007 02:39:

IMO the USGP always provided for some good racing. You may consider it boring, or just plain uninspired, but hell, there is lots of over taking at Indy every year.

Okay agreed on what you said

But then Ferraris sell most in USA

Also it's a huge market for Toyota and Honda

And by "proper" i mean is it was one of the few genuine racing tracks in f1. I am not in support of the new tracks coming up in ASIA. They dont provide that excitement from racing point of view. Yeah, maybe facility wise they maybe good but for how long?
After few years Bernie would start complaining about those new tracks also
Instead he should find some solution and help organisers of SILVERSTONE to improve it instead of just blackmailing them
