if anyone gets the f*ck, my guess is that it'll be the Angels. |
the Red Sox don't use the league as their personal farm system? Hmm....Manny Ramirez, David Ortiz, Schilling, Timlin, Drew, Matsuzaka were all free agent signings.
The Red Sox are winning now because they have adapted to the Yankees system..ie, SPENDING BIG MONEY. They've just made better signings lately than the Yankees but the two are essentially playing the same game right now, making the MLB (or AL at least) a two-team league.
How anyone can say the Yankees are bad for baseball yet the Red Sox are good for the sport is just a biased moron with no perspective. Not insinuating that you're saying that but I know people on here will and it's just nonsense.

Are you kidding? The Marlins entire payroll could probably barely cover a year of his new contract.

damn, what's with the sour grapes? yes, the Sox are spending big money.. but if your team was in the same division as the Yanks and had the money to spend, would you rather the players get it or the ownership? and by your judgments, i don't recall the ALCS being a Yanks/ Sox series... but i've been wrong before.
and wow, Ramirez was acquired 7 years ago. ortiz? check his stats before the sox got him (why else would the twins release him?), one could agrue that the sox made him great. wasn't Schilling traded by Zona? Timlin and Drew, yes.. i think Drew may be a tad overpaid, but hell.. the man performs. Dice-K had to be sought after otherwise the yanks would have got him. now, what about the rest of the team? 4 signings over the past 7 years hardly comprises a full roster.
yes, the game's a business. no matter what team you root for. if you pay for seats to a game and your squad sucks... maybe the ownership should of your team should bite the bullet, take home less money and sign some talent.
And yes, it is the yankees fault. but just because the sox saw the need to compete in their division and are arguably quite brilliant at it.. don't hate. write your ownership and tell them not to be so damn greedy, or better yet, write the commish and have him enact a salary cap.

I'm so glad no one beat me to the punch... YES obviously the sox spend $$$...
BUT... BUT...
SCHILLING was from the Sox farm system dumbass..>!!!!!
drafted by the sox... until they traded him a year or so after to the O's....
just had to PWN you for not knowing what you be talking bout....
and the Sox are definately in the running for A-Rod.... which I think is gay.... cause A-Rod is the best player ever... I dont want to see him in a sox uniform.... that would just seal the deal for the NEW evil empire!

it doesn't matter if redneck Schiling came from the Red Sox farm system. They had to dish out big money to get him back so what you're saying is irrelevant. How many players have originated in the Yankees farm system that have gone on to huge careers with other teams?
And ResonantDrag...dude honestly, stop with this crap about the Yankees being the sole reason for why baseball isn't fair. There's an interesting article on ESPN by someone (either Olney or Jim Caple...one of those guys anyway) who says all this Yankees-bad guys Red Sox-good guys is absolute horseshit. Besides, I don't have sour grapes...I believe I complimented the Red Sox on an amazing display of baseball in this year's playoffs.
It's the Red Sox fanbase that I really have a problem with lately. It's as if they try to insinuate that they win the "moral" way when the Yankees are still this evil corporation. Since the new ownership took over in Boston in 2002, nothing can be further from the truth and if you can't see that, you're blind.
Posted by ResonantDrag on Oct-30-2007 21:05:
good grief..
okay, let's make it easy
yankees=bad guys
sox=good guys
nothing blind about it. if you don't like rooting for the bad guys, don't attack the good guys, just change your evil ways. even 'ol Darth saw the light in the end

| ah well the Red Sox are a damn good team. Money well spent in all areas...they clearly spend the money better than the Yankees (and their payroll is similar to the Yankees if you count that 50 million negotiating fee). |
a little passive-aggressive?
again
yankees=bad guys
red sox=good guys

try telling that to the Orioles, Blue Jays, Devil Rays and the rest of the American League. The Red Sox are viewed in the same light as the Yankees now....you're just too biased to see it.
Posted by ResonantDrag on Oct-30-2007 22:55:
so after a couple years of spending more money, the sox are viewed the same as the yankees?
and i'm the biased one here.
thanks for the enlightening information, i'll stop posting having seen this in a new light.
yankees=good
red sox=bad

you're trying to simplify what I'm saying here. Neither team is "good" nor "bad" because they dish out the money and make it harder for other teams to compete. In my books, too bad for the rest of the league since these two franchises (and a few others) are committed to winning. But don't start saying that the Red Sox run their team with better business ethics and morals because that's stupid.
