How do i know what? I know for a fact that a lot of people seem to think Tisto has taken trance to "the next level", because i have seen a fucking lot of those posts with my own eyes.

And i don't "know" that he has taken DJ worshipping to the next level, that's why there's "in my opinion" in there .

very disappointed in the scene the last couple years. everything is so copycat, and nowadays everyone is jumping on the electro bus.

anyone who's been around here since 98/99 can relate.

Oakenfold owned 1999
Tiesto owned 2001

and now? both sellouts, money does some dirty things to people. like steal their creativity.

What the hell are you talking about? The only person that killed trance is John Digweed.

Huh? All Digweed did is stop spinning it.

That vacuum hoover sound killed trance.

No.

If trance was really dead you guys wouldn't be here...the forum would only have like only 10 people on at one time.

It has about 10 people who don't bitch about it all the time and actually talk about it. The rest of the 71,248 people on here...yeah that's what they do

TA is a place for recovering tranceaddicts, former tranceaddicts and addicts who are addicted to bitching about trance. Ala the continued "Who killed trance?" or "trance is dead!" threads that pop up at least 3 or 4 times a month and last for that long near the top.....30 or 40 pages later

Posted by Clovis on Mar-28-2007 05:15:

I've never made one of these threads, and I've given up bitching about trance, as it's really useless to do so.

On a side note, Daft Punk tickets for New York go on sale March 31st

asot is the main thing that is holding the trance scene together. armin might not be playing my favourite sounds, but he is certainly doing a great job of promoting the genre.

the people who ruin trance are the geeks who constantly complain about it. there is only so much people can take of supersaws, and now not so many people are interested in the dated sound then less music is made in that style. get used to it. trance is different these days. and it is better on the dancefloor too.

ASOT is only now 30 to 40 % trance, and this is shit trance. This is electro trance / house, bad techno, and dance (filo & peri style)
I don't consider this as the biggest trance radio show.

it may be the most popular radio show/label but to say it's the main thing holding the trance scene together is laughable. armin is doing a great job of promoting the certain kinds of trance he plays, but judging/promoting an entire genre based on what one dj spins is what's 'killing trance', if anything is

now this is just utterly nonsensical. the only way that complaining can have any affect on trance is when producers decide to change their sound off the back of receiving criticism, and this (in theory) would make things better, not worse. realisitically the only thing ruined by complaining is the rose-tinted 'omg armin' attitude among certain messageboard users

since when did the majority of anti-trancers complain about the lack of supersaws?

don't get me wrong here.. i still like trance, new and old.. and can't see any other genre overtaking it any time soon, nor can i see it 'dying'. but there is an increasingly large amount of bollocks getting released & getting popular.. armin plays a worryingly large amount of it & a worryingly large amoung of DJs are influenced by him. and no i don't think it works better on the dancefloor. hearing a shit tune on a big soundsystem doesn't necessarily make it better.. more often than not it just makes it a LOUD shit tune

I have a little theory, that people like Armin, and Tiesto are just bored of trance, they dont have any emotion attached to it, and only seem to base the music they play on the reactions on the Dancefloor.

I mean, what happened to Armin ? he used to make good music, awesome compilations.. with great trance music on them, until a point were he started to play those crap type of trance like Envio, Filo & Peri and Robert Nickson.. from his Universal Religion CD it all went downhill in my opinion..

I don't think that the stuff on Universal Religion was all that different from some of the stuff he played on his earlier CDs and sets. It did show that trance was evolving away from super-saws and epic anthems, and moving into something that wasn't quite prog but not quite epic either. And there was still some of the same artists he's played before (Midway, Airbase, Signum, M.I.K.E., Lolo). I think it was after with his ASOT 2005 and ASOT 2006 CDs, where he got big into the vocal prog-house/dance/trance or mcprog type stuff (I guess you could call it that).
