Orko - wasn't Heidfeld supposed to be the next Schumi a few years ago? lol
Godfather - I'm glad it forced another switch by Hamilton too. I really wanted Vettel to win and was disappointed in Hamilton's over-aggressive style, forcing people wide and onto the grass way too often. it was like he was playing Gran Turismo or something with a few of his passes.
As for the chicanes, I like the little speed bumps at Monza, but I vote to make them bigger right at the apex. If you know you're not making the corner, you can go politely around and then there's no argument that you "cut" the chicane. If you hit one of the speed bumps, you risk suspension damage or a spin (I would really love to see tire spikes or something more viscious LOL). I was surprised that the drivers were on the painted bits of curb as much as they were given how wet it was.
Ian - Coulthard is out at the end of the year, Button should retire and go to GT's or sportscars but he's trying to cling to life like Villeneuve did lol. Barrichello should pack it in too, sadly. He could have achieved so much more had he not had to roll over to Schumi.
Now the talk is still where Alonso is going next year. BMW has surprisingly expressed interest. I didn't think they'd touch him at all.
Yeah that surprised me too. I still dont get it, first thing they teach you is staying of the curbs in the wet
Maybe it's because they were driving full wet tires...
^ still, without traction control it's still a gamble.
There were a couple "moments" coming out of corners on the gas for a few uys, but not as many as I expected.
Hamilton's agressive style was very entertaining. I felt like I wanted him to come from behind and win even though I don't like him. Vettel getting that first was more important in the end reguardless.
i think hamilton's appeal is tonight, so should hear something about it soon.

inadmissible, no surprise there
I'm glad the penalty stuck. His driving may be 'exciting', but it has also got very aggressive and sometimes dangerous. He has started forcing people off the track, and he needed a lesson to think twice about it in the future.
He will win the championship this season, but if he looses, I really hope it is more than 5 points, so the penalty won't be considered the reason.
arguing against the fia is like arguing against....
I cant think of a good analogy but you get the point.
Part of this whole chicane mess started when the FIA (Charlie) started making the track safer and more off-road friendly. Before if you went off, you either hit gravel, the wall, or a huge chicane that broke something. Now there are generous tarmacs, and more gentle chicanes, so that the racing continues. Drivers started taking advantage, and well, this is where we are.
Had there been a wall at that chicane, like there used to be, Lewis would have been more cautious about his attempted pass.
Watching a video like this, reminds of how wonderfully twitchy the cars used to be. They really use to pay for mistakes, although not in this video. I really hope slicks and less aero next year makes the cars a lot harder to drive.
I wonder how much more downforce cars make now compared to those in that video.

watching live qualifying for the first time in years.... since the us gran pix i think... or maybe montreal.
Mass on pole!
Damn Singaporean circuit is bumpy as hell..
but yeah it is a beautiful city..worked there before..and plan to live there sometime in the future!!
Watching the on board, wow, what a track.
Whoa, surprising win by Alanso.
WTF is wrong with Ferrari? Another fastest lap by Kimi. Another team cock up by Ferrari costing Massa valuable points.
Interestingly only 15 points separate McLaren/Ferrari/BMW for 1st in the constructors championship. I would love for BMW to come in and steal it at the end.
I fail to see how ferarri fucked up with the Pit Stop, the fuel rigs are all meant to be identical so if it doesn't come off, it's the fault of the manufacturer. If Massa did indeed get a green light then he had to go, so they'll have to look into that system though. As for the race, very good, Massa only just missed being speared by Suttil, would've been better if it was Kimi after he crashed into him in Monaco. Alonso won via strategy and a hunger to do something.
Definitely a successful weekend, perhaps karma on ferrari for the fia being biased towards them.....
It was a mistake by a mechanic who turned the light green manually before he should have.
Btw, fuck Tiesto, here's superstar DJ Fernando Alonso:

Also, (stolen from another board)

Good race... I loved the passing in that bumpy part of the section where the cars bottom out.
But not alot of passing. When kimi crashed i was so happy that he is super far from the points now. Massas mistake was key too (well the light malfunction, i dont think its operated by anybody btw, they are automati and change when the hoses are out)
Mclaren #1 in both driver and constructor championship.

| Originally posted by TOR The hose was still attached to the car, so there's no way the light could have turned green if the system was automatic. I remember Martin saying the refueller has to push a button before the car is released, in which case it was a human error. A costly one, it has to be said. Massa had been on fire up until then and was looking to overtake Lewis in the championship. Nice to see Alonso come out on top again |
