i cant wait for the 13th!!! hopefully the weather will be nice.

beh this piknic was nothing special for me. Didnt really know who was who in the booth but for me the first dj was teh best, sick beats. After taht it started kinda minimal eletroish i wanst crazy about it. Last week was muuuuch better!

He's such a master of tech house, all sorts of cool samples and stuff, great to listen to.
Rest of the day wasn't so memorable, but satisfaction was like wtf. lol.
Fucking sickkkkkkk party, honestly the best outdoor party ever, was fucking gone, and nice meeting TAG, Alexx G, Alex and the rest of the crew obviously....

no it's the Vans Warped Tour right next to the piknic site, not enough space to hold two major events the same day.
Same thing on August 3th, Osheaga festival.

I'm sorry this is only in french. Please read it's very important. Drug consumption will no longer be tolerated at piknic. To much abuse in the past couple weeks, a few stupid people exagerated, it's time to start throwing out people who act like they are in their living room or at an outdoor rave.

Au Piknic, t� pas dans ton salon!
Deux ans plus tard, le texte qui suit demeure encore d'actualit�. Nous ne passerons pas par quatre chemins. Est maintenant venu le temps de serrer la vis.
Depuis ses touts d�buts, l'ambiance qui r�gne au Piknic est cr��e par la compl�mentarit� d'un site enchanteur, d'une musique �lectronique de qualit�, mais surtout d'une foule �clectique. Tout un chacun cherchant � relaxer � sa fa�on, c'est par la compr�hension et une approche non-prohibitive et humaine que l'�kip Piknic a toujours g�r� la foule dans ses �v�nements. Nous ne voulions pas faire la police et compromettre le climat libertin et convivial de l'�v�nement.
Cependant, au cours des derni�res semaines, nous avons constat� une recrudescence de certains comportements qui d�passent, � nos yeux, les limites, les bornes et les normes acceptables dans le contexte bien pr�cis d'un �v�nement en plein air (et non un rave) d�di� � la musique �lectronique.
Nous persistons et signons : un �v�nement d�di� � la musique �lectronique, dans un parc public, avec des familles, des enfants et des gens de tout horizon, de tout acabit. Le Piknic demeure ouvert � tous, ind�pendamment de l'�ge, de la coupe de cheveux, du sexe, du style vestimentaire, de la longueur des pieds ou de l'orientation sexuelle et veut favoriser une image plus positive de la sc�ne �lectronique montr�alaise.
L'effet de masse �tant un catalyseur de la b�tise humaine, certains pikniqueurs, une minorit� sur les 4000 personnes hebdomadairement pr�sentes � l'�v�nement, vont au-del� de nos limites et nous force � adopter d�s aujourd'hui une attitude qui m�nera probablement � plusieurs expulsions.
Car vous savez (peut-�tre ne savez-vous pas), il n'en faut pas beaucoup pour g�cher un Piknic! Il en faut tellement peu qu'une seule personne suffit pour g�cher la journ�e de tout le monde. Une seule personne.
Un insouciant qui distribue les � bumps � de K ou de coke � ses amis sur la piste de danse au su et au vu de tous, parfois devant des enfants.
Un pikniqueur tellement saoul qu'il reste debout par peur de tomber, qui se croit tout permis et devient agressif ou d�sagr�able envers notre personnel.
Le � cool dude � qui fait le bacon � terre, convuls� d'avoir irresponsablement m�lang� son xi�me GHB avec de l'alcool, par une journ�e ensoleill�e � 30 degr�s, sans avoir dormi, sans avoir rien mang� ou bu, fr�lant la mort dans une ambulance qu'il n'a m�me pas eu conscience d'avoir pris.
H�las, la r�cr�ation est termin�e.
On te surprend � consommer, tu seras expuls�.
Comme toujours, aucune transaction - m�me pour des amis - ne sera tol�r�e.
Tu as surconsomm�, on te donnera ton cong�.
Comme on nous le mart�le depuis des ann�es, la mod�ration a bien meilleur go�t!
Il y a une distinction entre faire la f�te et se d�foncer la face.
Tu veux consommer comme bon te semble, reste � la maison.
Tes limites ne sont pas n�cessairement les n�tres.

Piknic du 13 juillet
Qu'avons-nous sous le soleil pour dimanche prochain? D'abord, deux Fran�ais, Cabanne et Krikor, dont les liens au fil des ans en ont fait des pots � nous, pour ces moments de r�elle fraternit�, ici comme ailleurs : au Piknic, dans une minivan � s'expliquer pour esquiver la corruption polici�re mexicaine, � d�conner dans un appart argentin, � jaser musique dans un hall d'h�tel aux petites heures du matin, lors de multiples �pisodes � mutekiens �. Mais surtout parce que nous avons �t� victimes de leur excellente musique et de leur savoir-faire. D'ailleurs, qui ne se souvient pas du magistral live improvis� de Krikor et Pheek en 2005?!
Puis, sur le dessus de tout �a (� on top of it � comme disent les anglais!), Loco Dice, qui a roul� sa bosse depuis une quinzaine d'ann�es, d'abord s'accaparant la sc�ne hiphop de D�sseldorf au d�but des ann�es 90, avant de s'�tablir sur la sc�ne �lectronique notamment gr�ce � des rencontres avec Timo Maas, Martin Buttrich et Josh Wink qui ont fortement influenc� sa carri�re.
Comment d�crire leur musique? Alors qu'avec Loco Dice on s'enligne sur une house deep, groovy et chunky du genre-style � tadim, tadam, tadim-tadim, tadam, woumwoum �, Cabanne fait dans la techno minimale hot & funky parsem�es de � hum-tss-hum-tss-toum-hum-tss-hum-tss-toum �. Quant � Krikor, on s'attend � un live davantage dans le � cric crac cric boum cric crac cric boum �. C'est-y assez clair?! Non, bien il y a toujours leurs MySpace qui vous donneront une meilleure id�e que notre description phon�tique!

All of this cracking down is simply because of the ODs that have been happening the past few weeks.
Last Sunday, I go for a walk to chill out by the water. And I see a dude foaming at the mouth, fetal position, eyes rolling back, in an ambulance stretcher being taken away while a lil 4 yr old girl looks on.
Beautiful.

I always walk in another direction when I see kids coming/families walking towards me and I have a joint sparked already...outta respect for their little lungs!
So I guess the line ups will be much longer, the searching will be in full force and there will be TONS of confiscations.
There goes the Amsterdam atmosphere I loved But yes, it is for the better. This year was much worse than last tho...Guess I'll start hiding my joints in my undies lol!
We'll see what happens this Sunday for Loco Dice.
I've seen some sketchy shit in broad daylight at piknic, more than I've seen at outdoor events in TO. People doing key bumps or lines in the middle of the day in front of kids and everyone else...I'm glad it will be a bit more restricted, even if the line ups are longer.
