there's still a LOT of racism in australia- its not the lynching kind, for the most part, but especially in some parts of aus (Stu-land etc) it can be pretty bad

It's not so bad here in the city, but in rural QLD it most certainly is

Edit: Actually, lately there's a fair bit of racism regarding Indians.

You'll be happy to know they're slowly moving south, at the Sunshine coast I was in line for the aquarium and there was this couple of Qld rednecks ahead of us and they're "debating" the finer points of migrants and boat people.

"They come from overseas and bring filthy diseases with them that everyone here is immunized against so they should just sink the boats with destroyers."

I'm standing there with my borrow-a-Japanese boyfriend for the day acting as a native guide to Qld (he didn't get us lost, much) and behind us is a arabic couple visiting, behind them is half dozen Jap tourists... good job Queensland.
