G-zus, the whole night did not disappoint...SVD was just awesome, PVD brought it in massively ( IMO he might not throw the same set tonight, Sat ) I mean it was nutting fucks!
GO had a great closing set...my money was well spent
Best party since getting to Miami for me! Sander just killed it, the energy was sensational! I just love, love, love those Sander beats, Dank u wel Sander!
Paul started it out melodic and slow for a change of pace, but then delivered one of the best sets I've ever heard! He was smilng, dancing all over the place and then Giusseppe and Armin show up. I bet this was running through Armin's mind: "Man, I must be at this party next year!". I went completely crazy over the synth beats in one song that Paul played, had the lyrics "better, faster" - that was a wicked track! Danke, Paul!
Guiseppe spun until 6:30am, so many great tracks. I went up to the terrace, but the music was much better downstairs that I was back within minutes! Grazie, Giuseppe!
Space is one monster of a nightclub, I will def come back again. Only complaint is that party was advertised to open at 10, but doors didn't open until 11:15, so long ass wait even getting there at 10:15. Music was still going strong at 6:30 in all rooms, but downstairs switched to House. Hundreds of people waiting to get in after 6:30 when I left with my friends, insane!
Sasha @ Shelborne for me tonight for a change of pace, anyone else going?
Great party. All 3 DJs in the mainroom played good.
SVD's 2 hour set was a 10 out of 10, and the best IMO. He could have played all night & I would have been happy. Perfect flow, energy and mix of tech-house, tech-trance and high-energy trance. To me he is one of the best DJs to see live @ a club, bar none. He is a master of building up & destroying a room & needs to headline a party next WMC.
PVD played good for 3 hours and was an 8 out of 10 IMO. The 1st 2 hours or so were amazing, great start building it up & then dropping banger after banger, all high energy stuff. The last hour was not as good as he let up on the energy a bit, dropped some melodic fluffy stuff and vocals to make the girls happy. And yes as mentioned that "Dark Beat" remix that he has been playing for years needs to go already, along with that crappy "Im in Miami Bitch" garbage track. Still was waaaayyy better than last year's fiasco of a set.
Ottaviani came on around 5 a.m., I stayed till about 6:20 & have no idea how much longer he played. What i heard was very impressive and a 9 out of 10 IMO. By his second track he had the energy levels full tilt & delivered all high energy tracks at super high BPMs. Most surprising was how hard the breakdowns were as i did not expect that from GO, and he even layered in a few breakbeats over the trance he was dropping.
Best set if the night was Sanders, too sad it was short.
PVD set wasn't bad, but it just isn't for me anymore. Great opening tracks then long melodies, then vocals, then i am in Miami. His sets are to predictable in energy and really no difference every time he comes. Like I said it wasnt bad, but isnt for me anymore.
To me another set that was super impressive was Beyer upstairs, holy shit did he bring it hard!!!!
Left at 730am got to work at 845 left work at 2pm, super tiiirrreeed LOL!
PVD should've stayed and taken notes from GIUSEPPE OTTAVIANI

My god! my favorite night of WMC. All the djs played top notch. It was insane. Sander's first 30 minutes or so put me to sleep but then he destroyed the place like nothing I have ever seen. After that 30-40 minute mark he brought it track after track - except for the Ferry Corsten remix he made which i am not a fan of at all. PVD came on next. He started killer and then 40 minutes into the set or so played three or so hiphop like tracks and a daft punk mix and a few other tracks I felt was total crap but for some reason people sang to them around me. I had no idea what they were but hated them. After that dip for 20 minutes he brought it back up again. He had an epic set in my opinion. I mean I have seen him many times before and his sets dont change much but I never saw him at Space and this was madness. Was worried but was not dissapointed at the slightest. Then Ottaviani came on - people were leaving to line up for the terrace but i stayed till the end of his set. I am a hardcore fan of live sets. Playing along with a keyboard adds so much to it. I really enjoyed his set. Was hard and yet had him playing his melodies over it. Space pulled some BS by waiting for over 90 minutes to let people in. I had a before 12 ticket and waited in line at 10:20 or so. Wonder if they screwed people over with the before 12 ticket because of that crap. Plus they let people in so slowly that it honestly could have filled up by 12:30 if they didnt play that line game crap. Overall, so so pleased i went to this. Not sure how the nocturnal one went but this was epic. I give sander an 8.5/10, pvd a 9/10 and GO 10/10. Looking forward to the video recording to be posted.
i heard the nocturnal party was empty? maybe it filled up after my friends left?

Not sure how all of you have heard it before and appears like a lot. But man this song is shit. Not sure why it fits in with his set at all.

Bro PvD can play polka music with clucking chicken sounds while wearing a tutu and most of you will think he was fucking AWESOME!
Srsly, PvD is a has been. I give that man MAD respect up till 2005 (the last great time I had with him @ Space). I was a huge PvD whore but when a DJ stops playing up to expectation it's time to move on.
Give a chance for the "less well known" names to school PvD on where he needs to be again.
Nocturnal wasn't too packed but I'll take the music @ Nocturnal > 2 hours of SvD playing "great" (lol) and PvD doing the same shit he's been doing for about 4 years now. I guess parties have to be slammed packed to be "good" right? SIIIKE.
-edit: so I just heard the set [glad it got recorded for me to make my own opinion]. It began tribal/tech-housey followed by a wave of ups/downs as usual. I will say that he did some pretty cool shit with abelton towards the end of Global Code though. But seriously, what happened to the serious high energy, pounding kick/bassline type tracks he once played? What happened to keeping the momentum going throughout the set? I collectively heard 3/4 tracks I liked out of a 3 hour set...
I def don't regret my decision of not going.
Oh and 10 years of Vandit but no Tell Me Why (Vandit mix)??? I hope he played it on day 2 @ least or else that is an epic FAIL!

This was the song PVD played Friday night that I went insane over:
Daft Punk Stronger (Scot Project Stronger Rmx)
The synth melodies in this track are some of the best I've heard in years, song of the night for me!
Now that WMC is over, this was still the very best event imo. I would go back and do it again in a heartbeat! Club Space rocks, and the DJ's and crowd propelled each other into such a wild frenzy, out of control, just the way it should be.

Just to reiterate, he RAPED Club Space on Saturday and played the set that most of you wanted to hear from him. He started out with For An Angel 2009 and banged it out from beginning to end, no fluff! It was way way way harder than his Friday set (I was there too). Surprisingly harder than the set he played in SF a few months ago too. I wasn't going to go to this but I decided to go last minute. I also wanted to catch Troy Pierce and Marc Houle on the Loft, so everything worked out perfectly.
I have no regrets going both nights (Techno Loft was SICK on Saturday too). Also I have to give it up to Club Space for throwing an awesome party. Other than holding the presale line for a bit too long on Friday (Saturday only took a 10 minutes), everything else was awesome, not to mention that we got ALL ACCESS to the Terrace and Loft (Fri and Sat) with just the PVD ticket.
Going back to PVD though, I agree that his set on Friday was kind of wavy with his ups and downs, but only for the first hour. Yet he still managed to keep the energy up. The first hour of his set was as good as SVD's last hour, so some people need to STFU about SVD>PVD or whatever. They're both awesome, PVD is probably more versatile, which is I annoying I guess to some people, depending on the night they catch him..... The last 2 hours was FUCKING BANGING! Some of you people complain about him playing "housey" tracks or breaking up the energy a bit, I think it's complete BULLSHIT. Breaking up the energy is part of a good set! You forget to mention how every other real "trance dj" plays long fluffy, cheesy vocal breakdowns every god damn song. I went to plenty of "trance" parties (Dip In, AVA, Anjunabeats) and i'm sick of the fluffy vocal breakdowns every song, the same mixing in at 32 bars every fucking song, etc. Everything is way too predictable. Blah...... I'll take PVD's hybrid Ableton sets any day. I think a lot of you just bash and don't really know WTF you're talking about. If you don't think that other dj's play similar sets from city to city, or play similar styles from year to year, then you need to get your head checked..... I'll give props to someone who steps out and innovates and does it well, over others who do the same shit as everybody else. Here is what most trance dj's do: pick out a 140+ bpm song that doesn't key clash with the song that's playing, beatmatch for 5 seconds, mix it in by the 32nd bar, chill for a few minutes, repeat. Lots of skill eh?
Anyways, to each his own. I'm glad to see that we got such a good variety of events this year and that everybody seemed to have a good week. Seems much better than last year.........
Thanks Dj Simo, Great post! Sucks I didn't get to catch him Saturday but oh well Sunday School was awesome!
I am not speaking out ot my ass, I heard the set from Friday and it was REDUNDANT to many other times I've seen him. Nothing WOW or fuking amazing...it was the same type of set he's been doing for quite a while. People who have been following PvD since BEFORE 2004 agree with me. He stopped being EPIC in 2005. But everyone who saw the legendary 6 hour set @ the old Space (2003?) and were HUGE PvD whores say how bad he's gotten. It's the truth so give it a rest.
I'd believe he played better on Saturday for the simple fact I heard Friday's set and it wasn't special. What used to set PvD aside from every other boring trance DJ was the fact that he could deliver 4+ hours of banging ass music without having to take it down. He was relentless which isn't the case anymore.
Once again, didn't hear Tell Me Why (Vandit Mix) on the Friday's set. Someone PLEASE tell me it was played Saturday. Srsly, it's his best fuking track & the 10 year anniversary party yet he doesn't play it?? That's just full of LOSE!
