playing tommorow
I've got 40 points so far with Henry (c), Lampard, Llundberg and Pires still left to play.
Bring on my big guns!!!
Good game I thought, Milner, Bellamy and Carr linked up very well on the right wing, I also thought Nicky Butt was outstanding! just a shame about the hand of god....
our defence looked a bit dodgy tho
Yeh Milner and Carr worked very well down the right and Robert & Bernard were also very good at times. I was impressed with Robert's commitment and desire on the pitch. He'd loose the ball and on several occasions he ran back with his opponent to regain possesion.
The passing was brilliant on the majority. Great, quick, cohesive & direct.
Milner did not look out of sorts at all and Butt was more than impressive.
However, Jenas should have sealed the game after the penalty. Bellamy did well to cut it into the danger zone, but i think Kluivert attempt was a distraction for Jenas, who was next in line for the shot, but scuffed it wide.
I thought Ameobi was an inspired sub - he looked good on the ball & on the left wing.
Yep, very happy with the performance, that Stuart Dowding player for Boro looks superb if you ask me, Boro are a good outfit, smoggies or not
Downing was another one of those inspired subs. He forced a fantastic save out of Given, but he really should have never scored. Hasselbaink's ball into the middle went through (i think) 5 Newcastle players to get to Downing. Even then, he took his merry time in having the shot.
Yep, spot on mate...
only one week and then I'll be in newcastle, gonna make some vid clips at the spurs game and post em here =)
Sounds great! Is the Spurs game being televised?
Looking at the result it looks like same old same old, an away draw with the opposition equalising in the last minute. But this was different to the away performances of last season, we kept Boro playing long ball for most of the game at their own ground, we passed it around very well and considering we had 4 full backs in defence, coped well for nearly the whole game.
Our terrible preparations for this game meant Boro were certainly fitter than us, and that allowed them to get into the game in the second half and score 2 in the last 20 minutes. Both were sloppy goals to concede, I do think tiredness played it's part though, our side hasn't trained together properly for a couple of weeks now.
The chance Jenas missed was a howler, but Bellamy should have slid the ball over to Kluivert as soon as he got it, as Kluivert was unmarked with plenty of space and would only have had to slide it past the keeper. Instead Bellamy ran it towards the byline before cutting it across the face of goal. Jenas should still have been ready for it nevertheless.
Ameobi was a good substitution, he changed the game around and won the penalty which should have been the winner.
I was also impressed with Robert's determination, when Robert is chasing down balls and making tackles and blocks you know the team is playing with passion.
Butt was outstanding, man of the match for me without a doubt. Milner is worth a run of games on the right, he offers us much more balance than Dyer who wanders all over the field. Notice how yesterday we dominated the centre of the field but also used the flanks well, we had great balance across midfield. Jenas wasn't fully fit but I think Bowyer should be in ahead of him next week, I'm keen to see Butt and Bowyer in the centre with Robert and Milner hugging the flanks.
Can't wait until Woodgate is back, I'd have him alongside Hughes in the centre. O'Brien and Bowyer should be back for the Spurs game.
The referee was crap. We shud have had a definate penalty in the first half for a blatent handball. Newcastle did play better football and were always first to the ball, except for the couple of patches in the second half when we decided to play. Fair result in the end

Bowyer looked good towards the end of last season. His runs into the box were precise, much like his ones during his Leeds days - where he possesed all the attributes of a typical attacking midfielder. Hopefully, he can FINALLY reignite his career and show that form of the past.
On a whole, i was also impressed with our midfield balance. Particularly Butt & Jenas overunning Boateng & Parlour in the center, in large parts of the game.
The local papers in Newcastle are really laying into Dyer over his alleged refusal to play if he was put on the right and refusal to take the armband off Shearer.
The Chronicle have written an article attacking him and suggesting he could be on his way out: Chronicle article.
NUFC.com had this take on it:

All joking aside though, when the main Tyneside news outlet takes up the fight against someone toon-related, they invariably end up walking the plank - the Dutch gentleman who brought Dyer to Tyneside can attest to that.... |
I dont really follow Newcastle but it seems to me all there players have bustups with Robson?
Would love to see Dyer on any of my clubs I support.
All paper bollocks if you ask me.
Oh yeah, forgot to mention.
Only a few more days! WOOHOO!
then I'll be back at SJP again =))

Tim Howard - 18% lool
thats like saying David James really, he is America's own David James... dodgy keeper!
My vote goes to Niemi. I think he is a fantastic keeper.
The Spurs game will be televised on cable in Australia! That's wicked news to hear in the morning.

| Originally posted by evil_bastard The London media have been trying to unsettle Newcastle for a long time. When Bowyer signed he was supposed to tear our dressing room apart, yet most fans would have him as one of the first names on our teamsheet now. Shortly after that there was the accusation of Premiership players raping some women in a London hotel, of course the London media were quick to blame Newcastle players. They were writing that we were on the brink of financial collapse, then it became apparent that we're the 9th richest club in the world. I don't know what their vendetta is but the amount of shit they print about Newcastle is incredible. The articles about Shearer leaving took quotes from months ago and pieced them together with more recent quotes to make something completely out of context look like an exclusive interview. This summer most of the London media predict Newcastle to finish outside of the top 6, some even think we will struggle to make the top half. The Times predict us to finish 10th, the Racing Post say we will finish 9th. I noticed the other day TeamTalk did a poll of the Premiership's best goalkeeper, with 8 to choose from, and Shay Given wasn't even on the list. When London journalists talk about Newcastle, you have to take everything they say with a pinch of salt. Even just the other day on Match Of The Day during the Middlesbrough/Newcastle game the commentator Tony Gubba (from London) shouted "YESSS!" when Middlesbrough scored. It's no surprise that there is so much hatred towards London up here, people are sick of all the bullshit. |
