stop worshipping the dj. the docks was WAY over-crowded and the sound system definitely needed to be turned up. let me say this again, the SOUND system needed to be turned up. but i guess many people where too busy chanting "teeee sssss toooooo" to notice. i know a lot of people go to these parties to see the dj, but just because it's tiesto doesn't mean that the club is off the hook for not delivering in term of sound, and it also doesn't mean that tiesto is off the hook for just leaving at the end of his set.

Tiestos departure was WEAK i agree
I think perhaps the Docks also is responsible , promoters and etc. must have had something to do with it i believe
He does normally get out of the booth and signs autographes on stage and even take some photos,
I think they wanted him to get out as quiet and smooth as possible...maybe worried things would get out of hand!

About people pushing and shoving:
It was worst right at the start when Tiesto got on. We were trying to get up front and ended up to the left of the stage pressed up against everyone else who was trying to get there too. We figured "hey let's stand here and try to make progress", managed to get in about 6 feet in 20 minutes lol. Anyway, I know pushing and shoving will happen so I don't really get pissed off about it. My main concern is people can actually hurt themselves like that! I'm a pretty tall guy so whether I'm dancing or just standing there avg sized people who are pushing through crowds have a pretty good chance at meeting up with my elbows. Which wouldn't really be good for them lol. I don't know.. it seems to me people just don't think when they pull that shit. I'd hate to get into an encounter with some cracked out beefcake who smacked himself in the head with my elbow and decided it was intentional.

Although there were a ton of nice people who did the ol "excuse me can I get through please?" which was much appreciated.

So kudos to all of you who practice proper crowd navigating etiquette regardless of what most people do. :P

S'been a few days now and I keep remembering moments from the party and I'm still being blown away. And I'm kicking myself for not bringing my camera . Oh well, till next time.

Back in 2002 I think it was, during Tiesto's Nyana tour...I was telling a couple of the TAs, I saw Tiesto at this small bar in Detroit called Bleu...I'm sure some of you have heard of it, or been there. I was VIP then, it was the first time I'd seen Tiesto. But the amazing thing was...after he was finished, and he was signing stuff for people, I thought I'd do something crazy and get my pants signed! I got him to sign one leg in white...and then I tapped him on the shoulder and asked if he would sign the other one in black...and he took his black marker and signed Tiesto in black...all the way up my leg and look up at me with that fucking hot grin of his! It was fucking SIKKKK! I still have those pants, never worn them again! I want to get them framed or something!! Haha

D00d, I was there but failed to make it to the meet up... not for lack of desire but due to my unfortunate ability to tell time whilst f*cked up. I did run into Jem-Hadar and a few others but by that point I was rollin' so hard I couldn't stay in one spot more then 5 seconds. Jamie will vouch for me on this one. I more or less said hi, expressed my regrets for failing to make it to the meet up and then ran off the patio back into the sweaty mass of humanity inside.

Sorry!

Started off the night towards the front of the crowd to see Tiesto come out. Like everyone said, lots of pushing and pill tarts. So Tiesto came out (hurray) - one thing - it was almost impossible to dance - way too packed in at the front and it had to be 110 degrees.

So after about an hour we headed to the back of the club just in front of the back bar. People were spaced out much better and seemed to be much more friendly (not totally strung out either). Met some great people at the back. Good vibe.

Tiesto himself was great - that's all I have to say. I do agree with the others that the sound system was pretty bad. There were parts of songs that just seemed to be missing (mids mostly).

Not going to head back to the docks anytime soon, but Tiesto was great. I found my sunrise.

PS: what was the name of the third song he played? Some nice female vocals.

Anyhow, just wanted to drop a quick line and say that I had a great time @ the Docks, TIESTO was really good, great show, but most of all met some really nice ppl- hope to see you guys again, especially Starsearcher and Naz- don't remember other names, but the crouwd at the front line was great, except the f*** asians who kept grabing and pushing me- it was terrible.
Have to agree with majority re: the sound- it did suck, even I could hear that.

Overall, TIESTO is still my numero uno!

ok, I give up I dont know how to get pics her- Im blond - that's probably why....

Hey Paula...welcome to the MADNESS!!! nice seing you there!

I think one of the reasons Tiesto didn't come down to the crowd is because he saw what was going on in front...people were being physically hurt...I don't think he wanted to get his limbs ripped off and seing others doing stupid shit so I actually think it was OK for a change he didn't come down...it would've been pure insanity (not that it laready wasn't).

Let me just re-iterate...

The amount of idol worship witnessed last night was bloody disturbing. I was reminded of old footage of the beatles, except instead of screaming teenage girls, it was groups of 20-something year-old guys wearing all the latest designer fashions chanting "TI-ES-TO" randomly throughout the night. Come on people, he's a guy playing records. He's not a god. This is partly why electronic music has lost its way. Worship the music, not the man.

Looks like some of the worst offenders are here on this board!

Obiviously chanting Tiesto's name while some other DJ is playing is idiotic and rude to the currently playing DJ. However, I just don't see whats wrong with doing that while Tiesto is playing an awesome set ?

These people paid $50 to see Tiesto, and he's there - delivering great music as promised. People are excited and want to show their appreciation to the DJ! What's wrong with that ?

At least at this party people knew who was DJing, and most came there because they wanted to hear Tiesto. This is far better than some parties where people don't know who is the DJ, and the primary purpose is to get high.

Just in case you were wondering where Tiesto ran off to @ 6:30 AM, here is an exclusive image:

Tiesto cooling off on the Dock's patio

He had to change into his costume in order to make it for his second set of the night. Anyone get to hear his set outside? Was it any better?

This guy is off the walls, I would even say he is NUTS.

Posted by Tiesto4Life on Jul-04-2005 18:05:

I think we should organize something for TIC at either LA or MIAMI!!!! That would be a trip of a lifetime!!! Karim, start a roll call!! hahahhahaha

It's just a symptom of the larger problem.

quit yer whining!

What the hell is wrong with chanting Tiesto and enjoying being there to see HIM drop some good tracks.
Of course you like the music but if you think that thats the only reason to be there or enjoy a performance I feel sorry for you.

Hes just as much a part of the show as the music is!
Since when should we not enjoy and appreaciate the DJ? thats the dumbest thing Ive ever heard.

Damn, RJ, well said, as well as Dan and the others...getting through the crowd was a pain in the ass; I honestly hate disturbing others when they're in their "zone" (as I hate it when my eyes are closed and I'm staying in my little space but people still bash into me without a word and walk off)...but we need to reach our TA spaces so fuck 'em.

Hey Laura, remember those two pumped up d00ds with their skanky girls at front and left who would put the girls on their shoulders and then dance around, poking stilettos in everyone's eye? People like that seriously pissed me off; I wish people close to the FRONT wouldn't piggy back because it's plain annoying; nothing fun about it. When Jenn and I were waving her Tiesto Canadian flag on the front railing (and remember when he looked over and smiled? That was awesome! ) people behind us said they couldn't see, after we had it up for a good minute or two and they were happy when we pulled it down! And the guy that gave us his spot on the railing was also really nice to let us borrow the space for a sec! Kindness still lives...

Yes, you can ask Tomazee, Jem, and Cale...I would want to lead the group getting back from the patio to our space near the front, and I would say I'm a bit more aggressive getting through the crowd but I wouldn't dare even let my shoulders rub someone without saying "sorry" or "excuse me" as I went through. I found that a couple of times when travelling across the very front (to get from walkindude at right to the rest at left) when I was saying that and getting through, EVERYONE smiled and said, "No worries, man!" and just patted me on the back as I walked...some people can be really cool about it.

LOL!!! I saw your pic (green top) but I don't remember seeing the people who were on Tiesto's left...I stayed closer to his right side all night, so now I hope I'll recognize you!
