Mate you gotta be happy that someone in Belgium knows about this. Hooking this up to the internet for livestream would be a friggin awesome idea.

Posted by narcism on Jun-27-2007 00:15:

thought most internet radio shows are being/have been shut down

if you cant hook up a livestream, just record the sets and upload them for all the abroad listeners

Posted by Teflon_Teapot on Jun-27-2007 00:31:

i know syn does live broadcasts benji, and considering you have been doing sets for harder generation they might be worth a try. although organising something like that at last minute would be pretty hard, maybe just record sets this time and speak to them about doing it for the next party.

Posted by sunrise3500 on Jun-27-2007 00:35:

quite a grey area with that because of all the laws with paying royalties and restrictions with internet radio that apply here.. and having your server overseas in like norway or something doesn't help you, it comes down to the location of the broadcaster, not the server
dunno how active ARIA (or is it ARPA in this case?) with this stuff, they are aware, etc, although it's not like it's freaking pop music, RIAA can suck a fat one too (damn you howard)...

heh to think you can be an internet radio pirate O_o.. 1 vote for freedom of speech!
but anyways, with that aside...just get a host (Anyone interested in pooling in funds together to purchase some shoutcast/icecast hosting? or a colo? , no point paying x a month if you're only gonna use it once a week or something, might as well share the time and share the costs...)

and then you'll need internet at the venue, and you're set...

Posted by Anomyst on Jun-27-2007 00:36:

Good idea, will record the sets and upload em!

Thanks guys!

APRA a major pain in the arse in regards to internet streaming, it doesn't matter if it is pop music or not...everyone has to pay!

For you to stream the main room of this party it would cost $550 just for the rights to stream the audio from your website, thats not including servers and computers and bandwidth...
APRA website

Don't Kiss stream on the weekends from like "Kiss in the Clubs?"...

yeah they do, so they pay the fee.... which they then make the club or event holder pay...

APRA are like this for good reason, they are protecting all artists out there, not just the ones that make pop music :P

Sorry, incorrect, -1000 points.
Fair enough if they targetted those that are commercial/making money, but those that are doing this for non-profit/free/at their own expense, why the fuck should they pay anything? makes it impossible.
Retarded.

Argh! I really hope you do end up recording, because quite honestly, I go out to hear you guys play, because I'm still a fair amount of a n00b regarding major and semi-major artists, so actually being able to have sets from people I know and like [and was there for!] would be spectacular!
Words cannot describe how excited I am for Saturday! This is one of those rare opportunities where I'm actually going to spend time getting ready to go out. Not to say I don't look respectable most of the time [at least every other time except the morning after!]

Come and find me: I'll be wearing a tshirt that says JULESPLEESFAN. Muahahaha. I'm so frickin excited. I just want to sleep all the way through Thursday and Friday =]

BHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA ROFL .... Gold!!!

Yeah I'm loving the build up this week, can't wait! I'm more excited about this event than I was for Armin.

It's gonna be crazy!

Umm. Because APRA actually pays the artists* who's tracks are played a fee. So dance producers might actually get SOME money for their productions.

*as long as the artist is registered with APRA

but since mr not-for-profit can't afford it
the artists dont get money regardless (that's what commercial stations are for if you wanna talk about money.), and (more so) the artists that are struggling for money are gonna lose out on exposure (that could generate interest on the COMMERCIAL stations... hence they're actually losing money. awwwwwwwwwwwwwww!)

Ooooh I love this tune but it's very similar to the ABC Alphabet tune don't you think?

Anyway, I'm waiting for the SVD or Durand remix of 'Twinkle' with anticipation!

yeah i know they are trying to protect artists and give them royalty's, but most artists only get about 20cents per track played...

and for a 6 hour set there are about 60 tracks played, so 60 x 20 cents is 12 bucks... even if the artists got $1 per track played that is still only $60 bucks in royalty's....

i am happy to pay the royalty's but the extra cash just goes to APRA which is really quite silly

in closing they should either pay the artists more or lower the fees..

No shit! I was almost not bothered when I was thinking I wasn't going to get in with my ID, but I'd be devastated if I couldn't go to Interview for some reason...

Hehehe that's coz Interview is waaaay more fun! Everytime you go you meet new people + all the people you've met at the previous Interview are there as well. Go to enough of these parties and you get to know a fair % of the crowd. Then it feels like your own party!!

BROWN ALLEY FTW!!!!!
