I find two things wrong with this sentence. One is to do with semantics, the other is to do with spelling the same word differently.

It's garbage "electro" with a massive hands in the air buildup. Most of us don't care for it. It's been done before more tastefully. You find it brilliant, good for you, other people find that tired and predictable. I was buying deadmau5 tracks like 1981 back when we were still pronouncing it "dead-mao-five".

Also, I didn't assume anything, it was a comment on the fact that daft punk remixes, reworks, edits and accapellas have been done to death, ESPECIALLY since their recent spate of U.S. touring. Hell even Kanye West jumped on the bandwagon.

Finally, people who have a different opinion than you are not "elitists", unless you'd like me to call you a "Deadmau5 elitist".

There's a big difference between bashing someone who is more successful than you and giving a reasonable/respectful opinion.

Yes. Allied Nations (he's a TA, I believe he's the mod of the MTLTA forum?) did a pretty sweet edit of a Nudisco track with an acapella from "Too Long", Tom Middleton's sampling of HBFS in his Cosmos track couple years back completely destroys anyone else's attempt. Kanye's "Stronger" got completely turned on it's ear by Diplo and I sample that version pretty frequently when playing out live.

Why take the easy route when you could spend some time making a good career for yourself as a more respected artist, along the lines of Oliver Lieb, Quivver, Timo Maas & anyone who's managed to innovate their sound throughout the years and retain some credibility whilst doing so.

It seems that the majority of people in this thread are complaining for a rather silly reason. The Essential Mix is the same as doing any other mix in that it basically IS self promotion, whether it be as a DJ or as a producer. If Guy Gerber, Martin Buttrich, Daft Punk (today's Daft Punk, not the Daft Punk that did a rather ROCKING EM a few years back) or anyone else that does a "live" set did an Essential Mix the tracklist would be identical. That's what those artists DO, they play a "live" set of mostly their own tracks/remixes/edits what have you. Is that what people are upset about? Should Deadmau5 be billing himself as "live"?

i have seen every producer you just mentioned bas, and they do not just shamelessly whore their stuff. They play it sure, but they actually are pretty good dj's...something that can not be said here.

(minus daft punk...but if you get a bangalter set alone he does play other people's music albeit shittily.)

True that both Gerber & Buttrich play other people's stuff, but it's mostly their own. Especially Gerber. At Sunday School I think it was 90% of his stuff, half of which has yet to be released. That's not to say he doesnt' do a DJ set from time to time, he does do both. Stimming's RA podcast was all his stuff and it was magikal.
