This thread has become a tupperware party
I love how people never even met Jay or chilled with him but they are able to say so much stuff about him lol.
Rose is doing nursing?
and btw rose, the other lies i'm talking about from jay will not be discussed in here because they involve the privacy of other TAs' personal lives/relationships whom i respect.

See what the fuck is AA? Is that associates? I don't understand the point of that shit. How can someone be half of anything? I'm surprised they even allow that for nursing, to be honest.
And no, I don't think you're crazy for wanting your master's. If you find you have a passion for nursing and want to get involved in the research aspect of it (plus make more money and have more opportunities), damnwell go for it. I almost think it's dumb not to. Nursing is changing so much that I think RNs with their masters will become the norm. Up here anyways...the scope of practice is changing so much for RNs and RPNs.
no why would you be crazy? rose go to UM. my girlfriend is an ER nurse for 10+ years at memorial regional in hollywood and she's going for her masters now and she's 40.
yea jenny an AA is a 2 year degree offerred at "community college".

So I guess a program like that would be the equivalent of RPN up here, which is also 2 years at CC. Makes sense now.
edit: I still don't get the labeling system of your "degrees" though. It almost seems comparable to vanity sizing in clothes, lol. Up here it's understood that a degree = bachelor's or higher, which means you went to university. You don't get a degree in community college, you get a diploma or a certificate.

LPN should be 2 years.
I agree RN shoud be Bach.
Like me - I am doing Assistant - that's 2 years. If I go for 4-5 years I get a bach and become an OTR instead of OTA.
I figure as an OTA I can get a job that *may* pay for me to continue schooling.

Well as far as I know, it IS mandatory for RNs to have a bachelor's. It's been the standard in many countries for some time now...and the goal is to have global continuity with graduation/practice requirements/standards of care/etc.
you don't have to have a bach, here. not for RN.
You can and you make more money.

That's actually good though...because obviously it provides people with opportunity. I just don't understand why the States of all countries is lagging behind, especially since many of the leaders of the profession are Americans. I'm sure it all comes down to money somehow, once again, lol.
yea FIU is becoming more and more accredited. my ex went to graduate school there after getting his BA from ohio state. i just know that UM is an excellent school and yes, very expensive. i just figured if you're going for your masters, why not go to UM? barry is great too but yea i think it's in north miami?
