Bags.... sure.
Chairs... doubt it.
Sheets.... stuff it in the bag & you'll be fine.

Sneaking in stuff is not that hard. Big bulgy items can be a bit harder just be creative.

being that a shit ton of people are going to be let out of Ultra at the same time, i have a question:

is there going to be sufficient public transportation, or do people end up walking over the causeways back to SB?

i dont mean like an hour......5-10 mins will make a HUGE difference.....1145, start walking to the gate.......then 1155, RUN!

lol! Very true though. We plan on leaving 30 mins early on Fri to avoid the rush at Space and 15 mins early on Sat to avoid the rush at Karu & Y.

Posted by MdTechno on Mar-12-2010 18:20:

I plan to start walking closer to the exits 15 minutes at least, I am sure they will be plenty of stragglers staying behind past 12, I will not be one of those.

Posted by drEamer on Mar-12-2010 18:36:

if u are going back to the beach, for sure u should be leaving early...if you are going to space, nocturnal, park west, karu and y, u might be okay staying til the end

Posted by PatMcGroin on Mar-12-2010 19:18:

theres no way you can walk the causeway. thatll take several hours. if you need to get back to the beach in a timely manner then leave 15-30 mins before ultra ends.

Posted by DPetey81 on Mar-12-2010 21:04:

I remember a couple years ago I left Ultra 10 minutes early on Saturday to walk over to Parkwest. I basically walked straight into the club without breaking stride. Some people who waited until the very end, walked over to parkwest, and never even got in that night.

So, yeah, a few minutes can make all the difference.

can you walk from ultra to space or to LIV, and if so, how long of a walk would it be?

space yes. 10 mins max. liv no. if you tried walking it might take you maybe 4 hours. a cab on the other hand shouldnt take more than 20 mins.

Comparing setups for stages at massives in the US vs Europe is worthless. In the US you have to deal with massive, expensive unions and all that to do this stuff in just about every state. It makes everything far, far more expensive. And DJs and the politlcs involved to book at these large events take up a lot of money itself. It's easier to get a group of DJs at a bargain in Europe compared to here. Far, far easier.

It's something that 99.999% of people don't understand. And that's OK. Not their job to. But it makes it harder for the US organizers because it's always compared to the European events.

THe west coast massives (mainly LA) are seeing more and more theme'd shows, though. That's because events out here get 100,000 people to attend them now. Keep an eye on events like Electrinc Daisy Carnivel, Wonderland, Nocturnal, Monster Massive, Together As one, etc in LA (has exploded from 20,000 ppeople 6-7 years ago to 70,000-100,000 at each event today...mind you, they are INFESTED with candy ravers and e-puddles ), and keep an eye on LovEvolution in San Francisco (eqivalent of Love Parade - was called Love Parade SF at first, then LoveFest, but trademarks have led to LovEvolution).

I know about how it works - i helped some festivals out. I hate unions in general. But I disagree with you that comparison hurts. Being measured up is always a good thing cause it promotes changes year to year. Ultra has been getting complaints regarding this heavily in the last 2 years and they have reflected it in a cheap but still have by adding some slight design to cover some trusses and those light inflatable triangles, etc. I just think they could scale down the lineup, reorganize the grounds, and then get real production going. Weather is not an issue when it comes to these things. Its just financing. And sure EDC might get more people which gives them more flexibility for production, but ultra is far more expensive. If they went with a 12pm-12am on both days at the same ticket price, scaled down the talent, and rethought production, it would be an amazing festival.
