Just spring for the Desire. You know you want it

what stu said. its fucking awesome...

you would also be able to apply for membership to the AUta desire club. Current members include Stu (pending), Jolz and myself.

also what ben said: The on-screen keyboard is more than fine man, dominates the iphone's one imo (cause of the haptic stuff which makes it great to type on).

Any interest in the new app inventor Ben (& Other tech fanatics)?

just got my invite and had a crack today, made the first 2 from the tutorial... pretty cool in a crazy-nerdy way
Could be really cool once i figure out how it all works, hoping to make some nice music apps... a drum machine seems like it'd be pretty straightforward...

oh and yes, this is how i spend my friday nights

No one knows yet http://www.boygeniusreport.com/2010...device-verizon/

Apparently it's the HD3 with WinMo7. Unconfirmed yet whether you can dual boot with Android.

That takes it off the list for me. I want native Android.
Looking more likely I'll drop $700 on a Desire, a phone I don't need but really do want

Go on Fledz, do it. Do it. DO IT. Do it.

You just want me in your club, fag

When do we get 2.2? Also, who's on Voda?

i have 2.2 on my desire, and am on voda... it works FLAWLESSLY AND IS AWESOME.
only people waiting for 2.2 are carrier-locked fools, if you got yours outright you can go to 2.2 by simply going into settings and searching for update

Congratulations! You just volunteered for TA's new 'teach Stu about his phone and how to make it awesome' group!

Edit: Damn it, mine is almost certainly carrier locked. Lulz.

Well I was going to buy it from MobiCity which means it's fully unlocked, but I'm still locked into a contract with Voda until July 2011.
That means the phone is free to update to 2.2 though right as Voda is providing updates for my N97, not for my Desire? I'm thinking the phone should work fine on my existing sim card...hmm...

I have no idea, lol. I've been with Telstra for... 9 years

Mr. Raboo I wish I had your last name

Hey Ben, are you having any issues with GPS on your Galaxy S? Or is that just an issue with the T-Mobile Vibrant? Actually, are you running a Vibrant? I'm not sure which carrier you're with.

I haven't really tested out any of the GPS features other than a compass app, and when comparing with two of my friends phones, their magnetic north agreed, while mine pointed east (This is sounding more and more like a penis comparison. Forget about it, Stu)...

Did you have this issue with your phone? Did rooting it solve the issue?

I know Samsung said this should be fixed with the release of Froyo, but just wondering if there are some work-arounds in the mean-time that you've tried that aren't too difficult to implement.

Thanks man.

It is a known issue that the GPS and compass have software issues. They are functioning fine in the hardware, but there is some weird bug in the driver/software/something?. But to answer you question, yes I do have issues with it. Nothing huge though.

Well have you found your GPS apps to still be reliable? Or have you just chosen to hold off, until Samsung releases the update. Thanks.

Yeah, but if you want to buy it in aus, make sure you get the international version... the one Telstra is selling only works on Telstra: its the a8183... you need the a8181, which is the international gsm version... luckily mobicity sells both, or you could just get it from europe

The update works over the air too, so all you need is WiFi and it'll auto-download

No issues with the GPS on mine that I've seen. In fact Google Earth pinpointed my location to the exact spot on my front stoop when I was using it the other day.

Sick. Are you using a Galaxy S phone, Jenny? I'm looking forward to the update so mine will have the same pin-point accuracy.

Yes!! Until I buy a telescope, this should suffice. Also, check out the gallery with nebulae, etc & you can press "find in sky" .. it's really fun.
