This is the craziest video I've seen so far. It's really close to the action. At times it feels like a movie
Turn the sound on for this one too
emc: sorry, that one is great but the 6+ minutes one is closer and more intense.
infinity: I agree. same video I posted a couple posts above

It's amazing how orderly the Japanese react to this enormous disaster. Yes they are trained for earthquakes but in any other country, it would still be a chaos with only people thinking about themselves.
Pics & captions taken from a Chinese forum.
In front of a public telephone booth, we can actually see this kind of scene.

A stopped subway station, without an uproar, without a mess.

The people proactively observe order, without only thinking of themselves.

An ordinary school, a shelter for the people.

Children and women get priority care.

Transportation is paralyzed, people walking home, these are all 'disaster victims'.

Japanese people sitting on the sides of the stairs, ensuring that the center remains clear and accessible. This is the result of education, not something that can be obtained through GDP [alone].
kablooey..

It doesn't matter how many times one says, "supply-side economics is right!", it's not going to come true. I know a lot about him and his policies and ideas. He's an idiot. He called for us to invade Iraq so it would raise the stock market. He kept adamantly claiming we weren't in a recession and had hit bottom in May, 2008, when the market was about the same point it's finally recovered to now. Trickle down economics is bullshit and always has been and will be. |
AT&T costumers can call/text japan for free till march 31
When it comes to earthquakes in California, the 1900s up to now has been a VERY quiet period for EQs they say. They know back int he 1800s, 1700s, and before, strong EQs were much more common and happened quite often. Every once in awhile, activity goes into a big lull overall. And that's what California has experienced the last 100+ years. Even the few bigs ones...they were big, but during normal activity periods EQs that big are more common.
When the lull is over, EQs are going to be stronger and much more often in Cali and it's gonna freak people out. And this is separate from The Big One. Or the one that will be much bigger than the The Big One -- he MEGATHRUST quake off the Washington/Oregon coast. That will be a true super quake lasting 4-5 minutes long on a plate just off the coast (similar to Japan) and they expect it to rip a tear in the earth's crust over 600 miles long (Japan's EQ tore less than half that. Maybe 1/4th) stretching from Norther California all the way up into southern Canada. and create a MASSIVE Tsunami. We are talking 60-80ft high Tsunami. Yep, that big! They know it happens every 300-900 years. The last one was in 1700.
The subduction zone that will one day tear again.

You're going to have to find an in-context quote where he calls for an invasion for the purpose of raising stocks, because that sounds like either cherry-picking or flat-out bullshit. He's the first person to guess wrong about the economy? I didn't know that there were people who are right 100% of the time. They must be teaching college macro classes. That's one opinion... |
