Freak, how do you know where your records are? To be more specific, which genre's or artist's?
If I were you, Id have a color coated system, lol.
TERRIBLE shot with my camera phone, but you get the idea. I don't even have a table for all my gear, that's sitting on top of an entertainment center, it's way too high, but my only other table has my computer on it, heh.
Decisions, decisions..

Just a small update, Finished building everything a while ago now but never posted pics. (forgot to)
So i had an idea at the beginning of the summer to build a dj table. And i've always liked the look of the Sefour X30, as i said in my last post a few pages back.. Anyway i designed the table on some CAD software, and went from there.
At the end i also wanted to add something different so i made a cushioned top for the decks and mixer to sit on.
Vinyl as you can see is bare minimum at the moment as i've been hit with a nice insurance and road tax bill But i'm considering getting SSL and therefor don't want to waste any money which might help me get that.
Here's the table completed but just plain 18mm MDF all round.
The design of the top template:
The table nearly complete:
The table without gear:
And finally with gear:
I've got a load more build pictures if people want to see them, so just ask if you do. But yeh, it was fun took me about 7 days to do. And i'm happy enough with how it turned out Surprised as well as i've never worked on a wood project like this before, just a few sub boxes here and there..
nelly
looks great nelly! very impressive to build such a nice table being your first wood project. maybe you can start a business is djing doesn't work out
how sturdy is it? did you use a combination of glue + nails/screws?
Thanks lads,
Would mind doing it for a living if the money were alright lol.. it was fun to make.. I might take some better pics of it soon.
Miljan, it's impossible to budge. It's made of 18mm mdf, dunno if you've ever worked with mdf but once you use enough of it it gets heavy! Really heavy.. It took three of us to get it up a flight of stairs. I'd guess it weighs around 60-80kilos, or around that figure.
Here's a picture of the top of it being screwed down, there's no glue involved just a lot of pre drilling and screws. None of the screws split the mdf which i was really happy about
A picture of all the legs once they were built.
And a picture of the screws (some of the screws that are keeping the whole thing together.) It doesn't twist or bend or move at all. As there is one big back board to the whole thing as well.

Originally posted by Sound O fTrance Hey Desire.. how do you get your dust covers to sit up vertically like that? Are they in the brackets? ... or just leaning against the wall...? |
hmm weird... mine stop at about 60 degrees... I usually have to take them off if I want to spin....

do all mkII's had the brackets? It seems like my friend had some that didn't but he may have just taken them off. I dunno. I do know that the brackets used to be in a different position on the decks.
Desire's Plastic covers are just resting against his tables there. It's quite obvious. Works well though and i love those slips
I have seen tables with brackets for the lids, always wondered about them, Didn't know they only openened 60 degrees...

nelly, love the table!
How much did it cost you in total?
Cheers mate,
In total the table cost about 220 euro to make. That's around £150.. However i had to buy some power tools before making it so that drove the price up a wee bit (around £320) but i've used them for a few things here and there and they weren't purely bought just for the table..
It was basically a project to keep me occupied and i did it as i wanted others to know that if you set aside the time, anyone can do something along these lines. I'm no woodworker yet i was able to get everything done
hope that makes sense..
