As a Yankee fan, I just have to say that Kevin Brown is the worst pitcher in the league about now. His sinkers sink right into the heart of the strike zone. His outs are caught on the warning track.

BOO!!!

Nevermind that he's a jackass too!!

Im sleeping with the enemy. Going to the Yankee game tomorrow. Johnson v. Halladay. Nice! I'll cheer for the Yanks but secretly smile whenever Halladay does something dope.

I was in the bleechers. Sec 41. Man... what is going on with them? 2 runs in the last 29 innings, they've only scored 2 runs. I still think they'll be okay. But they really don't even have any injured players to blame.

geez, i can't believe jeter ran over cano on that catch... that's why he's one of the best

His defense still est tres stinky, except for last year. Probably had somethign to do with A-Rod.

Posted by Shamez214 on May-26-2005 11:53:

And Cano would've made the catch anyway.

Posted by Highmay on May-26-2005 12:10:

shamus...didnt i tell you last year to watch out for the brewers?? and bam...theyre at .500 now...keep an eye out for them...you just watch...

This is a very cynical response and I'm not feeling it! Being at the game, I saw how much ground he covered and concentration he had. Hard to believe A Rod doing something like that.... (pretty boy).

As for your Jeter's better defense because of A Rod comment. Are you saying A Rod being a good defender made him better or that A Rod's precense and subsequent talk about who was the better SS pushed Jeter to be better?

Because Pay Rod has been pathetic this year on defense. Quite surprisingly to be honest and I don't have a reason for it. Lots of errors in very crucial moments too.

all i have to say about last night is a
3-2 bases loaded fastball in on the plate and you take it for strike 3 looking? a rod cmon man you gotta swing the bat in those situations

I agree 100%. Jeter makes the best plays in the most crucial moments and/or against the best teams. A Rod makes his blunders in the crucial moments or against the best teams. That's why Jeter is beloved and A Rod has yet to earn every Yankee fans respect. Pay Rod puts up the numbers but he needs to do it when it matters to make us love him.

i don't think cano would've gotten it. he overran the ball it looks like. i dunno, i respect jeter cuz he makes plays. a-rod looked at a high 3-2... changeup? slow fastball? i don't know what that was lol

If you watch the replay on MLB.com, you can see that Cano's glove was DIRECTLY under Jeter's. But whatever...

No. I didn't mean that. I should've clarified. Rodriguez' plus range to his left enabled him to get to more balls, which took away the balls that Jeter had, in previous years, been unable to get. Rod's + range to his left would also allow Jeter to shade more towards 2nd base, which would allow him to get to more balls up the middle.

Again, this is all speculation. But how else do you explain a perenially poor defender suddenly becoming the best defensive SS in the league for a year? I think Rob Neyer did an article on it. And he despises Jeter. But he said that, going by Jete's numbers (not error's, but the other SABR defensive stats [RF/ZR/UZR/etc]), the only other SS who deserved it was Tejada. And it was close. So he let Jeter slide on this one.

But Jeter would've hit it, right?

Yanks will be is 1st by the allstar break guaranteed, boston is playing like crap schilling out till mid july, baltimore has been decimated by injuries this week and there pitching has come back to reality recently(sosa is washed up too) So to all you haters the evil empire has risen again!!!!

Okay.

How do you plan on getting Zito? Cano and Wang? Billy Beane is not a moron.

And... as of 3 weeks ago, the Yankees were TERRRRRRIBLE. So how can you say that "boston is playing like crap" has any bearing on anything. You don't think they can win 15 out of 17? When they get going, they're as good if not better than the Yankees.

Again, I'm not saying that it won't happen. Just don't be so sure of anything in baseball. At this time last year, Ivan Rodriguez was going to be the first catcher to win a batting title.

Boston is playing like crap for a Former world champion that has improved there overall team form last year, they should have an 8 game lead over the yanks. manny is hiiting 80 pts under his career averag ortiz is not the same, there defense sucks,Damon is having a career year, clement is undefeated and they still cant win? Unless schilling goes 12-2 They will be lucky to make the post season without drastic changes to team.whitesox are almost a lock to either win the divison or the wild card at this point, so the extra spot isnt as much of a lock for the bosox this year!

I dont care what anyone says... after a minor skid at the start, THE YANKEES ARE BACK BABY! Now what needs to happen is Randy to start playing like he should be.

And you know why???

TINO MARTINEZ!

if the game is shown on Fox, chances are that the Yanks will get blown out
Sox up 12-0 in 5th inning
Quantrill gave up 2 home runs (Renteria's grand slam and Nixon's 3-run dinger) before getting anyone out
Let's see if the Yanks can make it more of a football game than it is already

If I was Torre, I wouldnt bother putting in anymore pitchers until the 8th, no point in wasting arms. Although its possible for them to come back from this deficit, the chances of that happening are slim to none, so they might as well look to the next game.
