Considering the album was released in the US on November 2, Amazon did a good job shipping it out to you right after the release.

He was playing all of these tunes during the parade of the athletes. He also dropped dub mixes of tunes like Walking on Clouds at the event itself. Why? Simple; as the athletes walked out, the stadium announcer would speak in the arena, announcing their arrival in two or three different languages. It'd be a bit odd to hear that during a vocal tune, isn't it?

that's s good point

Ur probably right....

They said they were worried about it on the website...

but then again, if the music is just something in the background (like when watching TV), the announcer could still be heard yeah?....

Why would the IOC give such a reason then? Why didn't they just say what u did????

Here's my opinion about it:

The first tune "Heroes" was actually one I liked. But when I heard that the repeated main melody is pretty annoying after a while, I thought: Well F*ck that.
"Breda 8pm" sounds pumpin'. Even a nice melody in it, makes it pretty good.
"History" is just the proof how lazy a well-known DJ can be. Pick a "flight 643"-bassline + drums. Add some orchestra drums in it and a pretty annoying flute, and you're ready.
"Traffic" is just a tune that I can't stand, due to it's simplicity.
"Euphoria" is a nice and balanced atmosphere, combined with a pretty good main melody. Even the strings are intense, almost as much as in "A Tear In The Open"
Athena, mhhhh... A melody I heard before in: "Rollerball - Albioni". They obviously both ripped it from a classical track. But that's not the point. The point is that "Rollerball" did a better job, IMO.
"Flame" is pretty good. Powerfull bassline!
I always liked tunes like: "Lethal Industry". A good choice on putting it on yet another album!
"Home" just makes my ears damage. It's totally not my style. Pretty annoying with the melody.
My opinion about: "Adagio For Strings" stays the same. I don't like it, it's just too raw and repeatative.
Today is again another tune from the album: "Just Be", that is a perfect tune to start an album, not to end it!

In conclusion: Tiesto has done yet another copy/past-album which CAN hold pretty good melodies, but it's just too repeatative.

5/10

How do the bassline & drums resemble Flight 643 in any way whatsoever? Sorry but you're talking bollocks there. There's ONE rimshot sound similar to the one used in Lethal Industry, but that's all... nothing has been taken from Flight 643.

indeed...
it has nothing to do with flight 643!

Posted by websley on Nov-05-2004 21:13:

^^ It has exactly the same bassline and even has some percussion in it which is the same!

Definitely not. After comparing them, the kicks and percs are different.

Posted by websley on Nov-05-2004 21:51:

Still sounds awfully lot like Flight 643, IMO

I can only find resemblances on "Ancient History" to Lethal Industry. But that's just my idea.

How the fuck did u know???

Man... my parents think everything I like is from the devil... they're fucking conservitive Hindus, which means they think enjoyment is bad...
Interestingly, they cling harder to money than anyone I know...

but besides that.... What makes u say that? I listen to heaps of different EDM, but trance is by far the best. Also, I think I have a valid point, because that's wat it said on Tiesto's site: the IOC said that some countries will interpret the lyrics inappropriately... That's the thing... they didn't make the point u did.... why is that? why would they say something so stupid as they did...

yeah... but I think his newer stuff takes ages to get ussed... this album took me ages to get used to as well... but hte sounds in them are so much more designed for the Masses.... it also seems like it's a lot easier to make....

I find It's actually rally nice to study to, for some strange reason....

first.. proove them W*R*O*N*G (your parents)
not inappropriately.i think they just wanted to do something that everyone could understand the same way (and that cant be done with vocals).
and dont worry what tiesto says, hes prob a coce addict

I have to agree.

I still bought it since I haven't given up on him totally, but of course wasn't that impressed with what I heard. I'm sure all of his post #1 fans think he's god now, but I want the old Tiesto back.

yeah, a lot of the same sounds used over again, but add BReda 4pm to that list, it's got a bit of obsession in it, that's looped over and over.....

Magik 7 takes a while to get used... listen to it again after a few months....

It's turned out to be my favourite of his album's because it's just so orignial and fresh... but it's only my fav by a bit...

I've been ignoring this thread for a long time. I've seen this album in many CD-stores I've visited thus far in the past month. So, my question is, is this any good, or is it filled with Tiesto-fluff?

read and ye shall discover

or failing that check out the samples on online record stores. you really don't need us to tell you whether you like it or not.

So i've had this CD for about a week now, and it has really grown on me. One track, which really surprised me a lot is "Ancient History". awesome! I think it would freakin great to hear it in a club [that screaming sound is awesome! - and of course the drum breakdown in the middle]. Other tracks i'm enjoying include Heroes, Euphoria, and of course Forever Today. not a big fan of Breda 8pm or Lethal Industry [didn't really like that one first time around] but that's bound to happen with any album.

I think this album has a neat feel to it, and i can see it being used for something like the olympics; it just has that wide open olympic arena atmosphere to it [hard to explain]. i'm impressed, and definately enjoying the majority of it.

I thought 7 was great. I just haven't really heard anything since then that impressed me.
