Yeah, too bad it had to go this way, but I'm still glad we finally ended this.

I'm also very glad to see I actually made second place! I had no idea what kind of competition I was dealing with and what to expect, so this comes as quite a suprise

A lot of high scores in the list, well done guys!
Can't wait to see the comments and more importantly, to hear the other 4 mixes that are going to be hosted

Posted by sEpH on Sep-26-2005 16:56:

18th place!!

what a sux0r..

Well i made this mix long time ago and i made it live since i dont know how to make it non-live.. lol

i deserve it

Posted by mr2gti on Sep-26-2005 16:58:

Aye... I did OK too for a fairly rushed job, and know that Venik had me 2nd too

We'll do another next year, but we really need to sort the judging problem out.

Posted by DJTT on Sep-26-2005 17:02:

oh well 19th, better luck next time 4 me

LMAO! This competiton has JOKE writing all over it!

Congratz to the winner though!

Posted by psylo on Sep-26-2005 17:51:

Well personally, I think 10th is pretty good for me. I am only 15 years old after all so there is a big room for improvement.

Posted by OhMyGod on Sep-26-2005 18:11:

Ha... can't believe it...

Still, i wish there were more judges, although there results are pretty tight... can't wait to hear the other mixes... Congrats to the other participants.

Not really right for the results so we've gone with 2.

Not null and void but a rather disapointing climax.

Get the f*** in!!!!!!!!

Posted by djsphere on Sep-26-2005 19:18:

Actualy I had you on first place too, but Venik judged "Pete Lee - Good Shit" cuz it had a TL, so your "MarathonMan" mix has left out.

Posted by Belgian Bonzai on Sep-26-2005 19:47:

YES, managed to do better than 8 of you (that's one way to look at it, isn't it), pretty happy with that for my very first mix; think I'll make another one one day

Special thanx to TOR, he gave me some general and some more specific pointers, so thank you!

Just for the record I would like my dj name to be 'IAvA Collectif', think that has a nice ring to it.

If I find the space, I might host it for anyone interested, just because I think the tracks are nice

Thanks, Venik & DJ Sphere for checking out all the mixes, including mine; and mr2gti, for the arrangement.

Congratulations to the top-5! Looking forward to those, you bet I'm going to check em, work my way up the learning curve. Only one thing bothering me (aside from the blatant tardiness of course); I couldn't hear any serious double beats in the set (tranceseed?), which means I'm probably losing my hearing, and that is bad news; or worse yet (mmm, well... not worse really), that I can't distinguish between bad and good beatmixing, and that has 'red alert' written all over it

For me, it was a personal project that turned comp when this thread showed up; lately I wasn't expecting much. Glad to see results though. Didn't do too bad imo

cu, guys!

I listened to the "MarathonMan" mix at the very end and it indeed was awesome. But in the thread MarathonMan said something along the lines of "sign me up as Pete Lee" so thats the mix i judged.

Posted by MarathonMan on Sep-26-2005 20:18:

Aye! Thats right - sorry for the confusion!

Glad you all like it, i am actually chuffed to bits. Thank you!

Posted by Protege on Sep-26-2005 20:24:

You guys should do this again, but more organized though. And maybe only like 30 min mixes so that its not so hard to listen to them all.

Love Poundin' Sensation

haha, cant belive this! i actually finished in tied third place? man, im overwhelmed. didnt think i'd better than top five... from the bottom that is. right, should be intresting in hearing out all of the others mixes... but im sure hope the next competition will be better with deadlines for boths competitors and judges. luv u all ^^

Posted by evelon on Sep-26-2005 21:50:

Geez, I did better than I thought...

Posted by MekkaFIN on Sep-26-2005 22:04:

Shared 3rd place, wo-hoo! :P

Posted by Trance Seed on Sep-26-2005 22:57:

Yeah i would have to say i wet the bed on this one guys... I read the judging criteria the day of submission and was kickin myself. The mixes should be shortened next time... or else find someone without a life to listen to almost 2gigs of tunes in a week. Also next time the judges should be given access to the mixes on the deadline date instead of a month later. Props to Mr.2gti for challenging everyone into competition, and to All the contestants: I had real problems saying that one was better then the other, except for the obvious mistakes there was alot of clean mixing there. Dont make a competition a reason to mix, let the music be that reason!

OH yeah almost forgot to thank Mr2Gti!!! Thanks for the server space Dude

Yeah thanks a lot for that indeed, also for the hosting during the competition. It could not have been done without you

Posted by trickysaer on Sep-27-2005 09:59:

Right... so i listned through my mix last night. And i must say, i dont really understand how i came that i ended up in the tied third place. I remembered that i did the mix in short time because of the deadline (wich later on was extended quite much), and there where a few horrible transitions.

And i know many of you guys who participated in this contest are better than me and still ended up below me. How is that possble? Either there are criterias i dont understand, my results got mixed up with someone else or rest of the mixes where more or less crap.

Anyway, of course im pleased being "highranked" but i honestly dont feel i deserve the spot. Havnt listned to the other mixes, so i cant say anything about the quality there. But it will sure be intresting to hear the other top five mixes.

And thx to mr2gti! Fun competition, looking forward to the next one! But that one MUST have deadlines wich cannot be extended. Next time, people who participate must respect the deadlines and signing up means that you forfill what you've been asked too and not quit like 2 days before deadline. This also goes for the judges of course.

Many great thanks to all of you who participated and of course, the judges that took time in listening through all of the mixes! I agree with you, 30mins mixes next time!

This comment applies to pretty much everyone. You guys should listen to some of the Bobina mixes on Di.fm and see how they vary tracks throghout the mix, how the styles changes and makes the mix so much more interesting.

This was a non-live competition, which means you have a gazillion tries to make that transition right. DO IT!.. get it right. I hated to take marks off on the beatmatching. If you did a live mix that was purely your choice and i did not give those people any special consideration. In fact all beatmatching problems were punished severely. I was really dissapoined with some mixes. Some had awesome track selection but beatmatching and harmonics really killed the overall score.

What i noticed that overwhelmingly people are mixing progressive, house-like and chillout songs. I understand that these genres are much easier to mix and get smooth transition than trance and psychedelic for example. But comon, experiment, show me something different. The first 10 mixes i listend to were all nearly same style. Another things is that some of the better mixes have amazing 1st half and then the talent runs out. I think that when you mix, mix in stages. Do 1st half of the mix, listen to it a couple of times then let a week go by, then do the 2nd half. You'll see much better results.

Thanks to everyone who participated. I had tonns of fun listening to these. I even bought some vinyls based on the songs i heard

Good luck to everyone next time!
