i miss ultra.
oh well, till next year!
^ i feel you =(
carl cox tent was simply amazing. best vibe in the festival hands down. caught sasha and diggers when i got there till the rain made us retreat to the cox tent. in there caught fatboyslim which tore it the fuck up. then danny tenaglia came and kept the energy flowing and finally carl cox himself took it to another level. moment of the night was when he dropped Dancin'(dont remember the mix). the place just exploded. then headed over to the house area to catch benny benassi who was throwing down sick electro that had me going insane. then headed over to see PVD who played a decent set. altogether, rain and all it was a spectacular time.
Next year its Ultra 10. 10 yr anniversary !

just like it was said before, the rain brought a whole new element to the experience. it rained on and off about 5 times. when it would rain, it would come down hard and suddenly. one time i was worried because there was a fucking stampede of people running to the carl cox tent! it was chaos! it was surreal to see the giant mob of people running and then slamming into the already packed carl cox tent further squishing and packing everyone in the tent. people were yelling "move move" and all that. it got scary because there were people falling down and almost getting trampled in the stampede. meanwhile tenaglia is playing a sick awesome soundtrack to all the chaos. it was ironic with all the chaos when he gets on the mic and says "it feeeeeeeels soooooo nicccccccccccccccccccccccce muwhahahaha".
I heard the place will be different for ultra next year because the buildings around it will be completed and that will prevent the use of lasers and what not (got to have them lasers haha). Wonder where it will move to now in miami...
best ultra ever !!!!!
i agree. best ultra ever.
either the stage will be set up differently or the lasers will.. there is space to accomodate the lasers. I was telling my friend while at Ultra that it would suck to be on the apt where the laser's were hitting ( right on the apts )
The festival has become so important and so big ( if not the biggest event in South Florida ) that I would think the City of Miami won't want to prevent the Festival from happening. The article that I read on the Miami Herald was that Faibish and the other guy said that we should look forward to Ultra 19' and 50 lol

Besides, they did extremely good this year, with double the ticket sales... Just imagine how it would have been if it had been a beautiful day. Im pretty sure that would have totally sold out.

there was only one laser on mainstage. very dissapointing
I loved the lasers this year. So much better than any other lasers ultra has. Also the laser bend effect was real neat. Lasers add so much more than simple lighting. When the rain was going on and all of a sudden the lasers went on, it was like a switch to forget about the rain and that some Electronic festival action was still going on!!! WIth no lasers - the festival will blow. Yea its about the music, but come on.. THE LASERS OWNED lol!!!

Yea i agree. I am all about the visuals. People will attack us saying go for the music - but we are. Its just that you look for the visuals in a festival. If i went just for music and no festival vibe id go to a club. Anyways, least its a step up for ultra and maybe they will add more when they move locations.
Well people, I think that all your complains will focus on the following : Where will Ultra be held after this goes through ?

| Miami Needs Museum Park Museum Park is the City of Miami's urban redesign vision for the area now known as Bicentennial Park, an underused 29-acre property on Biscayne Bay, in downtown Miami. The Park, a catalyst for the transformation of downtown Miami, plays a key role in the Citys efforts to make Greater Miami a global capital in the twenty-first century. A vibrant mix of green space and cultural offerings, the project includes a premiere public park anchored by landmark new facilities for the Miami Art Museum (MAM) and the Miami Museum of Science and Planetarium (MMSP), which will host a branch of the Historical Museum of Southern Florida. | Originally posted by the unknown Honestly?? They need to move it back to Bayfront park with the amphitheater....i dont know WHAT IN THE HELL they were thinking moving it to bicentennial park...Bayfront was soooo much better in my opinion! You guys talk about the "visuals" making a party what it is...I think location plays a HUGE part in it. Anyone else agree about moving it back to Bayfront?? The last time they had it there was in 05' What happened with that? |
The amphitheatre can be defined by Oakie's set for Ultra 5. He was chugging vodka from the bottle during his set. And then they showed the WTC Towers on the screen and he just pointed to the screen as the song started to blow up. I still get goosebumps thinking about it.
They can't go back to the old park. The new place is 100x better anyways. I do wish they had more tents like they did the year before.
actually it was when Underworld was at Ultra (04?) was the first time they closed off that area. I remember people climbing the fence for Underworld and then PVD.
I like Bicenntenial way better.
maybe its just me then...i dunno, i LOVED the fact that you had to swim through a sea of people at the amphitheater to finally cram yourself and a couple of your friends onto a wooden bench that feels like its going to give everytime you jump in the air in unison with the other 40 people standing on it =D damn that was a run on...haha, and then the fact that i could turn around and look back at the sea of people moving up and down like a wave...that did it for me! whatever though, hopefully they will find a better place...i dont think i would like it too much if they moved it back to bayfront and then sold a limited amount of tickets....i mean, higher ticket prices than they already are?
