Best f1 race i've seen live so far. SO FRIGGING EXCITING.

I could understand why massa would be mad. I mean he just lost the lead in the final 5 laps, and to get a comment like that...I would be pissed too. And it really wasnt his fault he lost the race. Ferrari's car arent reliable; period.

In the press conference Webber found it interesting that Massa also had the same vibrations which he had to cope with on his last set of tyres, so the bridgestones design that everybody was running was flawed instead of it being a ferrari specific related issue.

Robert had vibrations too, but because of the real axle damage sustained when Heidfeld rammed into his car

Posted by nchs09 on Jul-23-2007 21:23:

i think we can all conclude that vibrations = good race

and it would've been pleasurable for women f1 drivers

Mclaren were found guilty but not disqualified

Maybe this happened because it would have been not good for the sport
F1 would have lost lots of viewership and ticket sales would reach super low.
who would like to see ferrari walking away with both the championship with no fight. And whats the point of such winning

I am die hard Ferrari fan but then i would not have liked that.
But i can understand Ferrari and Mclaren's position. Both teams are right in their way
Mclaren has done something wrong but not intentionally not knowing what some of it's employees are upto and even ferrari is right that they have been screwed

Posted by stren on Jul-26-2007 18:25:

i'm surprised they didn't even get a fine

The problem is, distinguishing between a team member and a team can be difficult, when wrong doing is considered. I think Mcl was able to prove (some how) that the documents were not seen by more than a small hand full of people, and none of it was used. The problem with this ruling in my eye is how can you expect a key member of the design team, not to use the documents, when he was in possession of them?

I'm glad for the sport that they are continuing on unscaved, but it is disappointed that real cheating was not punished.

In my eyes, Ron Dennis would never cheat to beat Ferrari. He has been racing for too long, with too much of his life devoted to it, just to throw it away on small performance gains through cheating. I think he would take more satisfaction from beating Ferrari fair and square.

Former Ferrari driver Mika Salo was not surprised by the scandal. According the Salo, it's usual business in F1. He said in to Ilta-Sanomat. "When I was driving for Ferrari we always spied on McLaren, listening their radio traffic. After every practice session I had in front of me, on paper, all the discussions Mika Hakkinen had had with his engineer."

Maybe this is a very small form of cheating which every big team is into

i wouldnt be surprised, its so competitive that every decimal of a second count.

Imo, the ruling was fair. According to Todt, McLaren has confirmed that it had to install a firewall to prevent information from Stepney from reaching the team in the form of documents. Furthermore, Coughlan has been asked to tell the very same Stepney to stop sending him information, so it seems Mclaren didn't approof of this inside information of Ferrari and tried everything to stop it. What is Todt seriously moaning about? If Mclaren were to blame for this then Ferrari has got the same amount of blame for it since they obviously can't control their own employees too from selling information to it's competitors.

Funny thing is, if Mclaren wanted to use the documents, nobody would have found out about it since the documents would have been kept under strict secret in the Mclaren base so Coulghan couldn't have walked out with the documents to a local printshop and made copies there where the Ferrari documents were discovered.

Ron Dennis looks old.

Posted by stren on Aug-02-2007 15:49:

not as old as Bernie

Posted by stren on Aug-05-2007 00:10:

what a chaotic qually, Alonso penalised will start from 6th, its not like it matters cause Mclaren will be stripped of its point gains anyway (I wonder if its the drivers points too) Massa down in 14th. Robert's car is acting up :/ This should be an interesting race (rain possible too)

where does it say so ? i'm not seeing this on any website.

It's really a harsh punishment for not getting constuctors point as alot of money is involved with each point scored in the constructors championship.

Posted by rikhav on Aug-05-2007 09:51:

Even fisichella has been given a penalty of 5 places and rumours are nelson jr. has signed a contract for a drivers seat with renault for 2008
So maybe Fisi loses his place at Renault

Its taken a while I know, but here are a couple of F1 vids from Goodwood Festival of Speed (late June). I couldn't upload them until I got home yesterday.

Michael Ammermeuler:
Red Bull F1 car

RB3 doing a burnout

Toyota F1 Engine demonstration:
Its a bit hard to see (and doesn't look as spectacular on vid) but there were big blue flames shooting from the exhausts on the overrun

I've got a couple of others and about a bazillion pictures. They'll come soonish

The team needs to be punished some how. But yeah, the stewards could have fined them heavily instead of forfeiting their constructors points.

punished for issuing team orders ?

Posted by Trance Nutter on Aug-07-2007 06:46:

what team orders? Do you really think McLaren told Alfonso to sit and prevent their own driver (Hamilton) from qualifying? Theres been no problem with holding drivers to feed them into space before, shit even Ferrari came out and defended McLaren by saying they routinely release their drivers so that they feed into space and not traffic. Every team does it and they always have, no matter what the driving standards director said.

They held Alfonso so he would go into space, thats common. But Alfonso then held himself longer for whatever reason. So punishing Alfonso I can understand, but then stripping points from McLaren just doesn't make much sense to me.

Telling Hamilton to let Alfonso pass in early Q3 is also no problem.

This is qualifying, who gives a shit what team orders are going around. Theres no contrived results ala Ferrari in Austria

I can understand stripping points if McLaren had prevented another team's car from qualifying, but there was no disadvantage other than to their own team.

Why wasn't Ferrari stripped of points when Schumacher parked it at Monaco? That prevented other teams qualifying, ok it was Schumacher and not the team, but then the problem arose because of Alfonso and not the team.

you confuse team tactics with team orders. Its annoying that FIA messes with things that should be dealt inside the team. I bet its only cause it involves the 2 top drivers
