Since this in now a picture/video of the day thread, here's one of my favs from youtube...

the dichotomy between the beauty and distructive power of nuclear weapons has always fascinated me (yeah, maybe I have a problem ), and the addition of the haunting music mixed with the words of Oppenheimer ala the Bhagavad Gita makes it that much more dramatic... enjoy

its not seldom that the most shocking events are also (in some way) the most exciting sometimes. it definitly has some artistic beauty, if u only take it for the "appearance".

Those soldier you see walking into the mushroom cloud were there intentionally - it was a test to analyze combat effectiveness of ordinary troops after a nuclear detonation. Some of the stuff that happend during the nuclear development era was pretty F'd up.
