I've never heard of or seen a Schneider, so my rating might be flawed.

As for the drink I posted - Club Mate, pronounced "mah-teh". In Argentina they all drink this really bitter tea all day long. Pretty much anywhere you go, offices, bus stops, pools - people have their thermos and a bag of leaves. It's always served hot there.

I have no idea why, but a chilled, carbonated version has somehow made its way to Germany, where it's extremely popular. It's low in sugar but tastes great anyway, and full of caffeine. Night clubs in Berlin tend not to serve a great deal of Red Bull, it's all about the mate. I'm hooked on the stuff.

You think it's horrible, I think it's delicious

Perhaps you should try Edelweiss:

I had this when I was randomly picking out beers on a menu. It's reaaalllly good!

Also, there's this pizza place by my gf's house that stocks single bottles of a wide variety. Have to go and check some new stuff out.

edit- might've posted this before, but an amazing stout:

very heavy though, so only one or two in a session for me

Posted by Frenkieee on Apr-19-2011 22:13:

I don't know what it is, but I love me some 'special' beers lately! Other than just the plain and simple drafts, I like to try some others. Had a few of these tonight:

Quite tasty I might add!

$3 on draft at my local on Saturdays afternoon. Win.

Just bought myself this yesterday

The price of beer has been creeping up. With tax an average 6 pack is little over $10 USD

Nice man!
You really like Brooklyn Brewery eh? I'm planning on checking that place out one upcoming afternoon. Should be a great time.
I wish I still had a bottle of that Yeti.
I still have a few bottles of Sammichlaus hanging out in my fridge though, as well as one of the Cuvee van die Kiezer Blauw.
What's the waxed bottle? And what's in those cans? My initial thought was boddingtons (disgusting, putrid swill) but that can't be right.

It's a result of the increasing price of commodities I guess - and I think the BMC beers have been losing some market share. The slightly more expensive big-run beers like corona are probably taking even a bigger hit (god knows how they afford all that marketing)

I saw some fag German guy wearing a Foster's shirt last night. I let him know the score.

Tried one of these last night and I really must agree with the B-grade composite. I actually did not find it anywhere near as potent a flavour as I'd expected it to be; it was actually very smooth to the point of obsequiousness, belying the decent ABV with a kind of heady foam with hints of tangerine and hopps. Still, at $9 for one bottle, I could get a 6-pack of Raging Bitch, and have a slightly more hopps-laden experience.

Posted by LAdazeNYnights on Apr-22-2011 17:47:

Hal, my own experience with Left Hand brews (though, I haven't tried that one) has led me to think of everything coming out of their brewery as being just about average.

Lacksesepsotygh-- I've never even heard of Ska Brewing. Are you in Colorado? Or do they have a wide distribution?

Do any of you guys rate beers on BA?

Posted by Halcyon+On+On on Apr-22-2011 19:25:

I'm in Colorado, and the sheer amount of microbreweries we have is impressive, though the quality of them tends to fall on the disappointing side. New Belgium is probably my favourite/most consistent one, and even then it has very few 'special' brews that I've happened across, more like just good, gulping ones like Fat Tire.

There is one based in Breckenridge... called, um, Breckenridge Brewery or something unimaginitive like that. They make a great Vanilla Porter, if you are a fan of the more brassy flavoured varities.

Posted by LAdazeNYnights on Apr-22-2011 21:16:

Breckenridge Brewery Oatmeal Stout got me through many a cold night this winter love the stuff
Haven't tried the Vanilla Porter but I'll make a point to if I come across it sometime.

Enjoy the Great Divide offerings in the foreground. Loved to see that Ska Brewing is offered in Systembolaget somehow. Some of those Colorado beers arent offered in Colorado!

Posted by biznology on Apr-23-2011 01:16:

Jesus, guess I am behind. Just saw the pic, didnt read the rest.

My fav after visiting San Die-ahgo:

Better on the beach, and something that System would charge 20 bucks for, but serious beer. Hoppy but balanced, and in SoCal they sell a pint for 6 bucks and in Fort Collins it would be 7 for a 1/2 pint...boo

Posted by kadomony on Apr-28-2011 14:55:

draughts had last night:

Magic Hat #9 - I've had this before, and I'm pretty fond of it. First time having it as draught, though. Very nice.
http://beeradvocate.com/beer/profile/96/299

Sixpoint Bengali Tiger - I may have a new favorite IPA! Hops are amazing in this.
http://beeradvocate.com/beer/profile/10607/22189

Great Lakes Eliot Ness Amber - Wasn't much a fan of this at first, but developed better as I drank it. It's alright.
