Yep, Galaxy S Vibrant.

Well have you found your GPS apps to still be reliable? Or have you just chosen to hold off, until Samsung releases the update. Thanks.

It is just sometimes slow to lock and the compass isn't perfect, but it does work. The worst part is that the lock isn't always super stable, but otherwise, for me anyways, it is tolerable.

Wouldn't it be the shipping carrier they chose?

Probably, but it's just easier to blame Telstra. They are cunts, after all

You can't. /end

Honestly, it is pretty much impossible to get it unlocked, unbranded, and cheap. You can get it unlocked and unbranded, but not cheap. Or you can get it cheap and locked and branded.

Not being delivered until tomorrow

See? Cunts!

Posted by Sushipunk on Aug-31-2010 07:25:

Still no phone.

Cunts.

Multiple calls, today and yesterday.

Whore: "Umm, it's bee dispatched, so it should be there"

Stu: "Ok, but it's not here. I wouldn't call if it was here already. Which courier company was it sent with?"

Whore: "It's normally AAE, but it depends. It could be any of them, really"

Stu: "So, when will it be delivered?"

Whore: "Well, if it's not there by tomorrow, give us another call, and we'll see what we can do"

so i have a cell phone question...

eli and i have to get upgrades.. our phones are pretty much toasted, and of course we just have regular phones, not smartphones. Now that we have to upgrade, it looks like we have a choice between a shitty normal phone, or a smartphone. The only thing we really use our phone for would be texting, calling (obviously) checking our facebook and email.. but we use alot of long distance since eli is working 1000kms away. So that being said, long distance charges eat up most of our phone bill. So i'm scared to get us smartphones that will rack up HUGE charges.. (keep in mind canadian cell phone companies are criminal..) So really i guess my question is.. the blackberry curve, or the iphone..

this is the webpage of stuff i have to choose from.. please help as i am completely retarded when it comes to phones..

Wiener... I'd recommend going with one of Rogers' family plans (unlimited Canadian long distance between you) and add the Blackberry social networking plan, which gives you unlimited texting, BB messenger, and access to social networking sites (FB for BB included). Should fit all your needs while keeping your bills down. Sure you don't get a full on Data plan but if you're not going to be surfing then who cares?

Posted by wienerschnitzel on Aug-31-2010 14:02:

well i'd pretty much voluntarily become part of the human caterpillar then have any business with rogers.. i hate them to no end. I'd like to stick with bell, even if they don't offer as much plan wise, they've been really good service wise. Also the biggest problem is not so much eli and i talking to each other on our cells, but eli calling everyone back home that he used to work with and talk like school girls about work stuff. So that being said.. if we are getting a smartphone, i would like to have some data so i can tether.. or whatever the fuck browising the internet is now called.

Are you with Bell? Go with their fab 5 plan. Unlimited calling, any time, nationwide, to 5 peeps.

edit: sorry, I see you ARE with Bell. Duh. Just get their cheapest data plan (50 bucks/month) and get the Fab 5 feature as your extra. It's included in the 50 dollar price.

Oh man, Android is AWESOME.

I just have to wait a couple of hours to properly play with it, since my new SIM isn't fully activated yet.

Kick ass little phone!

Weeee! Android club! *cock pump*

Posted by Silky Johnson on Sep-01-2010 03:37:

What?

Has anyone tried any bluetooth controllers on android yet? Damn emulators are addictive, and touchscreen D-Pad is practically worthless.

found a couple, but with mixed reviews (or, in the case of the "best" one, no availability).

lemme know if you need app help...

actually fuck that, READ MY INTENSE RANTS WHETHER YOU WANT TO OR NOT!!!!

get a task manager straight up, sense is awesome but there are so many background apps which drain the battery to death real quick, set up "auto-kill" for the apps you don't use, or don't want running in the background...

also only check "sync" in settings for mail, uncheck the rest cause it pretty much kills your battery too syncing facebook and twitter every minute..

sweetest app i found lately is 'visual task switcher' which operates like palm's WebOS... when you hit home it pops up with a list of running apps, and you can switch between, or close apps without going to the home screen... awesome

get retro camera, and fxcamera. both are free, and are awesome.

get all the emulators, mainly gameboid lite, then get pokemon roms

get cestos, online game of marbels, it's wicked

get linda file manager: just for moving/deleting stuff on your phone and sd card without connecting to a PC

evernote and dropbox are sweet online data storage box apps...

that'll do for now....

Posted by gehzumteufel on Sep-01-2010 04:02:

Exgos, no need for Visual Task Switcher. It is built into the OS.
