15 games up. i think the white flags are flying across the AL Central.
anyone hear the rumors that griffey is going to go on waivers?
You can't place asterisks next to his stats... Why do people always say that?
bret boone once again got dumped LOL

Ryan Franklin today busted for doing the juice. Wow... just think if he didn't have it.. the guy is 6-11 with a 4.61 ERA this year. Yikes!!

| Originally posted by Shamez214 I know about Maris' asterisk. But... it can't be proven that these guys 'cheated' back when they compiled their numbers. Plus, it wasn't against MLB rules back then. When Bonds hit 73, it was perfectly legal. Not to mention that if they get asterisk'd, then players like Cy Young and Eddie Ciccotte's stats should be asterisk'd as well for using shine/spit/scuff balls. They were legal while they were using them, but then became illegal. Same with Satchel Paige's hesitation pitch. |

But I think that the home run records by Bonds, McGwire, and Sosa are at least severly tainted and people like me won't consider them true. That's my mental asterisk. Obviously you can't go back in time and test them anyway. There's no proof. I get ya, I'm not disagreeing here. By the way, Jim Thome on the juice? |
what about Giambi? 14 homers in one month...his arms and neck are looking a little big again.
I hope for his sake and mine as a Yankees fan, that he's still clean.
Giambi's actually a pretty decent guy when it comes down to it.
I like Giambi. But there is almost no doubt in my mind that he's doing something. Look at how terrible he was last year and early this year. Now, all of a sudden, he's hitting like he did in Oakland.

anyone care to run down a list of players that are significantly smaller this year?
bret boone
sammy sosa
giambi (he admitted to it so no surprise)
ivan rodriguez (he looks like a little kid, they cant call him pudge anymore)
i havent gotten to see thome or helton a lot so i cant really comment on those guys.
and i dont get what your saying about steriods not being illegal? by law they are illegal and i think that trumps MLB rules. they just never tested for them because of the union or at least thats the excuse they gave. the sports guys are reporting that when congress comes back they are going to vote on a bill that would force professional athletes to adhere to the same guidelines as the IOC with the same penalties.

See what I don't get is why is Palmeiro only suspended for 10 days? I thought Selig was imposing a strict 50-day suspension for steroid abuse? I can't remember if that was a mandate or just a proposal.

baltimore fires their manager lee mazzilli ..
who didn't see this coming ?
.. baltimore is in a very tough situation right now .. being next to the d.c. capital, and in a very tough division with the yankees, red sox, devil rays, and blue jays ..
but everyone knew that sooner or later, baltimore would come back from cloud nine .
at least their cross city counter parts the washington nationals are making some kind of effort to make the playoffs .. and they're also in a tough division with the braves, mets, marlins, and phillies .
who wants to predict the orioles will finish last behind the devil rays when the season ends ?
yeah i was just about to post that.
wow.
at the rate they're going, they'll be dead last in all of MLB.

baltimore seems like a crappy organization right now. they've had a lot of injuries to key players this year (lopez and bedard to name a few). they didnt make any moves to help the team during that stretch. they didnt make any moves to better themselves before the deadline. they spent a lot of money to get a washed up sammy sosa. not to mention the palmeiro fiasco going on. i feel bad for mazzilli.
