I just went to the Oakenfold show at Premier in Seattle and just realized why EDM is dead.

Sandra Collins was before Oakey and she was great, but the croud was so f'ing lame they kinda stood in confusion as she played Kosmas Epsilon - Innocent Thoughts, which is an awesome ethereal tune, but the croud was too antsy and didn't appreciate..

Then the Oak came on and he was ok for a while until he played Tiesto - Traffic and Yilmaz Altanhan - Eighties.. twice! I realized he had comepletely lost any originality he had but the crowd just ate it up.

Oh well, I guess thats what I get for hopeing Oakey would pull a miracle and remind me why he was a trance god. I'm going to Vancouver to see James Holden and hopefully that will revive my clubbing enthusiasm.

edit: OMG

how queer of oakey tokey.

The EDM scene in the Midwest is growing, as mentioned, the knowledge of specifice edm tracks and genres is unknown to the common person. Though the midwest has alot of great talent locally, and guests: Liebing, Beyer, Lekebusch(canceled sadly), and Ferry, just to name a few.

As long as he didn't blast out Southern Sun. I don't know why, but the vocals in that track are gah!

i go to Cubik(formally Buzz) at Nation in Dc all the time...it quite dead to the big names of trance cuz they let Glow take them which is fine with me...cuz they suck anyways...the one good thing is the new bi monthly psy parties....so its boosting up a bit here...edm is not dead in america it jsut depends on where u go..buzz is a club where to people go for the music not the names all the time...but i do agree that the kandie kids get old...u gotta look semi nice for a club...well at least i try to...but i hoope it gets better around here cuz at the moment it sucks

Yeah, the vocals seem kinda "old lady"-like ... but me likes.

I actually have never really heard about there being too much of a scene whatsoever in DC. There isn't too much a scene for anything in DC. My guess is that the governmental facets are right next to you whereever in the hell you go. Can't have a decent rave with presidential security guards standing five feet away

what are you guys complaining about. atleast you HAVE a trance-scene.
we are happy if mike and armin can spin 3 times in a year in our country
anyways... I know the feeling guys, you kown the tracks and go freaking nuts on those. but the crowd just doesn't move, and they look at you??? "wtf are you doing? nobody knows this, so stop dancing.
but suddenly they hear traffic, and they start jumping around like little kids who see the icecream van arriving.

the little club-scene just sucks big time

For some reason, people only like what they're told to like when it comes to trance in the US. If they hear that Tisto is the be all and end all of trance as we know it, then that's all they want to hear.

Posted by denys envy on Apr-10-2005 18:26:

we all know Oakie has done too much cokie and is now on permanent brain damage.
as for the topic -

EDM is not dead in the US, clubs get packed everyday with acts like Armin, Hernan, Holden, Deep Dish, etc. - I could go naming acts all day long.
The point is that our genre of music should never be as mainstream as the rest of that crap like Lil' Jon and Britney because then the genre and the reasons why I like it would truly die. MTV would play the fuck out of tracks, artists would sell out to make more dough, and little 12 yr olds would be going "OMG I WANNA HAVE TIESTO'S BABY!" - it would suck and if none of you see this you are stupid.

I am tempted to keep this thread open just for Orbax as he seems to be the only one using it for the purpose it was posted for.

Krysta, continue to spam your site in every one of your posts and i will ban you, simple as!
