And porsches are one of my favourite cars, even if money was no object i would take a porsche over any other supercar with the only exception of a Ferrari, but that holds a very special place in my heart.

me too.

i totally agree with u on touching a GT2. i'm not a fan of rims on porsches unless it's the cayenne. maybe some custom interior but that's it.

I can't tell you how much I hate people who cannibalize the GT2. As you said, that car is crafted to perfection. I personally find the only one that tops it is the GT2 Club Racer and only because it is the club racer.

Who knows. I saw a USDM Monaro here once that a guy swapped all the AUSDM body parts onto it including the badges. I was surprised as hell when I saw it. Almost NO one here in the US knows that the GTO is the Monaro.

You're not a fan because most of the rims that people put on the beautiful (and imho the most gorgeous car around) GT2 are ugly shit wheels. You need to go to some more exotic less bling bullshit rims for those cars. That is a car that means business.

lol the cheapest Porsches here, Boxsters, cost 70 000 (~$102 000) and the GT2 330 000 (~$484 000) so talk about "expensive" with your US prices!

Posted by L.E.N. on Sep-24-2008 06:39:

Id still rather have this over the new ones.

Posted by bas on Sep-24-2008 06:45:

The Boxster is so useless it's now slower than a Hyundai.

Here the Boxster is USD40,000.

I would like 2 of these cars. One that is original, and one that is a replica but with a fully modern suspension and motor.

What about the Cayman?

Winner

Love this car. So classic.

I love classic Porsches but not so much the new ones. I respect the new ones, but don't lust after them. The Cayman comes close as do the GT2 and GT3.

I would also love a 904, 914-6 (or 914-8 yes, there is one in the museum!) or a simple late 70's 911 SC (Guards Red, or Black, with Fuchs alloys) with the tea-tray spoiler.

How could any proper porschefile like a 914!?

Poormans Porsche. Never liked them. There are a few that have some sweet engine swaps and are fast as shit. I can respect that, but no fuckin way is it on my list of favs.

Exactly. It was the WORST Porsche development platform EVER to be made.

I can accept that some people like them and did engine swaps on them, but any proper Porschephile would prefer the 914 to be wiped from the annals of the their history.

LOL

Ok, fair play on the poor mans Porsche, BUT! The 914 didn't have just a Beetle motor, and it was air-cooled and handled well.

The bastard of the bunch was the shitty 928 which had a VW Rabbit / Gold lump and tacky styles. The 944 was badass but even true Porsche nutters don't acknowledge it's existence because it was front engined and cooled with water

The 968 was also quick, but quite fat and heavy. It only came in auto in Canada (and maybe the US). The 968 ClubSport's were super quick, but again, not a proper Porsche.

For me, the missing element of cheating death will always leave the nutty ones (old 911 Turbo, Kremer K3 etc) on a higher pedestal than the "tame" ones that handle well. The GT2 (and any other 911) will still bite you if you drive it poorly. you don't often argue with Newtonian physics and win.

If by handled well you mean it handles like a boat, then yes it handled "well," but otherwise it handled like shit, was grossly underpowered, and had the ugliest body style ever.

The 928 was actually quite a lot better than the 914.

Peugeot 207

Awesomeness all around

So many to choose from. Surprised to see so many Porsche fans considering everyone usually jumps on the Ferrari/Lambo bandwagon.

One of my favorites is still the BMW E39 M5

I wouldn't mind a Porsche 997 revision 2 Turbo, either...

Posted by nchs09 on Sep-25-2008 20:48:

Ya that m5 is one of the sickest. The new one has grown on me so much though.

it's really almost perfect in every way. i've had one for 7 years now and still love it! the s62 engine is AMAZING and the torque curve is abundant. the suspension is a nice compromise of roll vs rigidity and the luxuries in the car are nice, even by today's standards.

the e60 m5 is okay... not my cup of tea really. if someone gave me one i'd definitely not turn it down, but i'm waiting to see what the next model brings. i wasn't that impressed with this go around.

To be honest I haven't been impressed with most BMWs after the E36, E39 and E49 (I think that is what the old 7 series is. The one before the change from IL to LI) models have brought. Mostly they are all fucking boats now.

the e36 m3 is still one of my favs too...

the new m6 convertible doesn't look all that bad to me, but i haven't driven one.

Well I just hate how they are not as distinctly "BMW" as they were back then. Also, they have gained so much weight, especially the 3 series, that to match the performance of their real ultimate driving machines, they would have to have 500+ horsepower in ALL their models.

Oh and my FAV BMW is this one. Not the conversions either. You can tell it isn't a conversion because of the rear quarter, the rear window, etc.
