Question... if you had to keep one goalie which would it be...

Backstrom, T. Thomas, C. Price... which would it be?

I ask cause Broduer is out and the guy in my fantasy league is gonna be needing a goalie (possibly 2 cause Toskala is is second goalie)... I have Lundqvist, Backstrom and Price... initially I offered up Rick Nash and Backstrom for Dany Heatley... but I really like Backstrom, so Im stuck.

I am in first place in the league by 111.20 points.

My team looks like this:
C: Statsny
C: Getzlaf
LW: Zetterberg
LW: Nash
RW: Iginla
RW: Perry
D: Lidstrom
D: Phaneuf
D: Markov
D: Ehrhoff
Util: Sharp
Util: Selanne
B: D. Roy
B: Horton
B: Sakic
G: Lundqvist
G: Backstrom
G: Price

I would keep Price. Beside the obvious bias, he is the only goalie from those 3 that has been a proven winner at every level he has played. His stats this year are also near the top.Thomas should not even be in the running there.

both the trades you offered, you come out as a loser. Always offer less and work your way up to more.

you tnink id be giving up too much with nash and backstrom for heatley? I was thinking of trading them and picking up Auld.

is this a one year pool or franchise mode where you keep the team?

one year it is not so bad.

franchise mode, that deal is crazy.

Its not a keeper league... otherwise I wouldnt even think about trading Price. Price is on a better team too, my only reservation about him is that Halak gets a bunch of starts - but I know when hes on the ice, the Habs win.

Ive been thinking about dumping Sakic and picking up Thomas or Auld, kinda monopolize the market and force trades with me.

Posted by elFreak on Nov-07-2008 19:13:

I think Halak will see 25 to 30 games this year at the least. He is a good goalie, and a great trade bait if the habs need to pick someone up before the dealine for a playoff run. He is starting tonight, Carey on sat against the leafs. A player has no value if he does not play, and there are quite a few teams in the league where Halak would be number 1.

Stay away from Tim Thomas lol. I don't know what you expect to get for Joe Sakic.

I want Thomas as trade bait... cause hes off to a hot start, but hes so inconsistent. Try to sell high on him. I have absolutely no intentions of actually using him for more than trading him.

Posted by elFreak on Nov-07-2008 19:28:

what will happen is you get him, and he will start sucking it up big time (like he does every year...big start and fizzle) then you will end up with tim thomas on your team. Never trade for trade bait...it does not make sense. It is impossible to improve your team like this, think about it.

Im not trading for Thomas... Thomas is sitting in the free agency. Im not fucking crazy.

not impressed with halak tonight. this team can't lose in regular time, and i was happy with scoring with the goalie out and 1 point....but fuck me there should not be a shootout with columbus.

I was expecting the Habs to kill them, chose not to start Nash versus them cause I thought that.

Posted by elFreak on Nov-08-2008 06:58:

it is not the end of the world, but halak disapointed me. Steve Mason stood on his head. He deserved the win after stopping 34. 8-1- 2 is not bad, but we should beat fucking columbus. If we lose to Toronto though i will kill some jews, that is a rivalry that i need Carey to step up to. We lost 4 points so far, better than your rangers

Posted by Ian on Nov-08-2008 10:51:

I'm pissed but i dunno why. they're not showing leafs/habs tonight live, but showing calgary at columbus, so in one way i'm happy to see calgary but the local hostilities and atmosphere from a leafs/habs game would've been win.

Ducks got stomped 5-2 by Dallas. Sharks get dallas tonight with a backup goalie in the net. I wanted dallas to win just to knock the ducks back but it was a pretty busy game lastnight so the pace is going to be good.

Posted by L.E.N. on Nov-09-2008 05:37:

DAmn sharks pulled it off 2-1 . Slower game. Still undefeated at home (9games) Nabokov should be out for only a few days so thats good.

Posted by Vlad on Nov-09-2008 14:47:

What happened to Montreal and Price? 6 goals given up to TORONTO?!?!? WTF is this shit?

Posted by elFreak on Nov-09-2008 16:59:

was not price's fault.

the defence did not show up and the leafs had 41 shots.

when a team thinks it is too good to play 60 minutes against a weaker opponent this is what happens.

man oh man is the refereeing inconsistent this year.

35 penalties in the last 4 game lol...you can't win no matter who you are when this happens. Either way, first loss in regulation time comes in november. I am not to worried, we weren't going to be undefeated all year.

B.J. Crombeen vs Ryane Clowe

Posted by L.E.N. on Nov-09-2008 17:53:

Got the coyotes tonight.

Posted by L.E.N. on Nov-10-2008 03:32:

Finally lost. Odd game, but it was about time.

Posted by elFreak on Nov-11-2008 15:48:

they better win tonight because i have tickets.

Posted by MagikMan_643 on Nov-11-2008 18:46:

Move over Carey Price, hellooooooo Jeff Drouins-Deslauriers

The kid made some great saves against the Blueshirts at MSG last night. Obviously it's a bit of a stretch to compare him with Price, but it's nice to have a young talent on the Oilers roster who looks like he'll be capable of stepping into the starting goalie role in the not too distant future

And Ales Hemsky just keeps on pulling those highlight-reel goals out of the bag, what a talent

Posted by elFreak on Nov-11-2008 19:08:

let us not forget 20 year old Steve Mason for the Bluejackets...he stole them some games this week and won the second star in this week's player of the week. He should push Pascal Leclaire to be better through competition.

Carey was very ordinary against the Leafs, but had absolutely no defence and had not played in a week. I have a feeling he will be giving the Sens fits tonight, because in the media he was really pissed off. I can't wait for tonight

The amount of young talent playing in the NHL at the moment is quite incredible. I've been a hockey fan since '94, and don't think I can recall such an exciting group of youngsters breaking through into the league in that time. Combine that with the lock-out year and it's really rejuvenated the hockey scene in my opinion

McGinn is a stand out for the sharks....really a great future player.
