Originally posted by trunks1022 the yanks/sox game was boring as heck. i'm not sure if i can make generalizations, but it seems AL games are a lot slower/go longer than NL games (they're different notions). perhaps it's having the DH, and having longer at-bats than pitchers, less sacrifices being employed, but i always complain about the lack of rhythm that AL games have. all the national league games i've gone to move around at a pretty decent clip. does anyone else have this problem when going to games? (high scoring games add to this phenomen, but there can be exciting high score games, and not blowouts like the one i witnessed today at yankee stadium. that was a massacre, and quite boring.)
I think people are biased towards whatever league their team is affiliated with. I've been trying to watch more NL games lately. NL games are definitely much shorter in time and I would say for the purist, much more enjoyable to watch. Things do move along better, not everyone is waiting on the 3 run bomb. AL can be too much position to position. Definitely less strategy involved of course. I love speed more than the next guy but I still like to see A Rod blast one out to deep center. It really depends... I agree some 9-8 games are really boring.
I LOVE Jake Peavy, that's funny you say that. He's probably my favorite pitcher, he's so money. I needed pitching and tried to trade for him again and again but the guy wouldn't relent. A lot of Yankee fans don't even know him, it's pretty pathetic.

seems like tonight's Yanks vs Sox game is gonna be a home run derby
In the 1st inning alone, first an upper upper deck shot absolutely crushed by Ortiz, and then dingers by Jeter and Sheffield.
Both sides are getting lots of good cuts.
Dang, another ridiculous shot by Ortiz in the 3rd, right after Renteria's leadoff homer.
And Moose is out after just 3 innings
the slugfest quieted quickly, thanks to Wells and Wang
After that first inning, Wells settled in and was lights out
Sox win this one 7-2 to take the series

Harry Kalas is also mint when he does Phillies games
he's also the voice for NFL films
The Braves guy needs to be fired! I personally like Vin Scully, he such a classic voice. I also wish Costas would do games more often

Originally posted by Member of X Vince Scully is the best! Costas is good too, he just thinks he knows everything (but he is a smart guy). I can't stand Joe Buck and Tim McCarver because something always bad happens to the Yankees when they are announcing. Plus, they kept rehashing last years playoffs over and over. Ok I get it, thanks for the reminder. Nice coming into work today to work next to the Boston Red Sox girl. You know the type, the one that likes to instigate with me even though she knows like 4 of the players. Smile and take it... that's all I can do. memo to the Yankees: DO NOT ATTEMPT/SUCCEED TO TRADE/RENT FOR ROGER CLEMENS!!
Personally, I'd trade Wang. But that's me.
As for the Red Sox girl... is she cute?

Originally posted by trunks1022 i would also suggest they don't trade away cano or wang when the time comes

Originally posted by Member of X Any trade for Roger alludes to losing Cano and/or Wang. That will piss me off more than any Mets fan after trading Kazmir!! Matsui... BANZAI! First HR in 180 bats...

Originally posted by Shamez214 I wouldn't go crazy if they trade Wang and Cano. However... if they trade Eric Duncan... that's where I'd go Cuckoo!
Yanks help make Buddy Bell look really good in his managerial debut for the Royals (with the worst record in the majors!), as the Royals win 5-3
What will Brian (who was there to see it in person) and the Boss do?
BoSox won today, so they moved ahead and gained some ground on the O's.
Blue Jays also won, so they'll move ahead of Yanks, and push them down to 4th.
Those damn Mets, they couldn't take advantage of both Marlins and Braves losing 2 in a row.
Granted it's his first day back from injury, but Beltran had runners in scoring position three times, but couldn't drive anyone home.
Looks like they'll move down to 4th as well, with Nats beating Braves to move up, and Phillies are not too far behind.
