and where on earth did you hear this?

My track (in the sig) had been played by Perry O'Neil, I think that Perry doesn't play McProg...

Perry both makes and plays McProg
your tune however isn't that, it's half decent, congrats

lol no not at all, i dont like alot of music, no matter how good it is technically, but i dont hate the people who made it just because i dont like it.. thats what my point is

I hate inferior music, I don't necessarily have a personal hatred of the producers. Some, but not all

Posted by Mike_Foyle on Dec-21-2004 19:21:

well i guess it came across wrong, some people in here are saying they want to see markus dead, and that all "mc prog" producers should die. I hate alot of music to, i can relate to your argument a bit more easily now, but i still think alot of people in here have a really bad attitude about it all.

Opinion and taste has to do with it, yes. But it's not only a matter of opinion. Otherwise there would be no distinguishing Brian Eno from Yanni, no difference in quality between Sasha and Lasgo. That's patently false. Because there is some measure of quality independent of opinion alone.

I think it's even more subjective than that. One could argue that Lasgo is better than Sasha because it's more fun. We probably could only argue that Sasha is better than Lasgo because it's deeper or possibly because it's more original. It depends on the point of view and what attribute is used to measure quality.

I think they're using hyperbole, mate. I doubt anyone actually has desires for them to die.

The fact that we are turned off by this music doesn't make us elitists, it just means that we aren't bandwagon jumping 'progressive' lovers who, ironically enough, criticize 'boring progressive' to an even greater extent with a generally more limited knowledge of what they are criticizing.

yes, and i have 2 of derek howells most recent releases. trust me, there are VERY similiar elements in both of those tracks which you can hear are reused.

See thats where you're wrong buddy.

Take a ride to the past and go back to 1999-2000

Matt Darey was at his top of his game producing real epic trance.
He used very similar beat formulas but produced tunes which clearly were different from each other. Each tune had a beautiful magic spark to them
EX:
NightCrawlers-Never knew Love(matt darey remix)
Gigolo-Al PAradiso (matt darey remix)
M3-Bailamos
Gabrielle-RIse(matt darey)

GO listen to those tunes...similar formula but gorgeous sprinkle of pure talent

Lets flash forward to 2004

Derek howell is a producing Genious
Similar Prog Dreamy Breaky Formula but complete perfection and finetuning to never allow a rehashed melody like those McProg CHeeseHeads.

Ex:
Derek Howell-Come Again
Derek Howell-NonTechno Piece
Derek Howell-Aphotic
Derek Howell's remix oF Smight-God Strike's here

Compare now with today's McProg Pioneers

All of Markus S. ColdHarbour Remixes?----WTF???
All of Prosbot's whack ass tunes...Name some that exemplify perfection and nonsimilarity of formulas?
Perry Oneill--......... *sigh* do i need say more?

Hey Derek. Nice to see you on the boards. I do have to say that "Simple" was a lovely tune.

Posted by UWM on Dec-21-2004 19:49:

I'm surprised people even remember that name

unfortunately, i never said that derek howell didn't make good productions and i never said that markus, probspot, or perry o'neil are better producers, because thats just not true. I was making a point that Derek Howell does reuse similiar sounds and instruments in his tracks just like probspot does, and you can't honestly say all their tracks sound the same because you can easily pick out tracks which don't. Probspot - Blueberry or Probspot - Midnight. howabout, Perry O'Neil - Cold Fusion, Perry O'Neil - Wave Force (possibly the most hated prog-trance song on ta ever, lol!). and markus schulz... well i dunno his productions too well. never really got into his stuff. but look, all i'm saying is technically, these producers are pretty good and don't nearly deserve all the hate you guys give. you guys really go to extremes when your describing the quality of tracks and i think you should be a little bit more realistic.
