Combine that with the lock-out year and it's really rejuvenated the hockey scene in my opinion

you can thank the salary cap and imposing a maximum salary that rookies can make for this.

Gotta make sure the future of pro hockey is secure.

there are a few faults with the system, but it has made the nhl more competitive.

Cool, thanks for the tip-off dude. I'll keep my eye out for him

I totally agree.

And as long as guys like Jeff Finger continue to earn $14m over 4 years , I don't foresee too many players vetoing a renewal of the current CBA lol.

He definitely came through against Ottawa, wow... blanked them! Well done.

LOL sharks boned it tonight...

Posted by elFreak on Nov-12-2008 14:08:

The habs played their first full 60 minutes of the season last night. Total pwnage on every front, and Carey played with fire in the belly. Maxim Lapierre is becoming one of my favourite hockey players. He does not get too many points, but on the 4th line he creates all kinds of trouble without yapping.

Sorry Dubam, but i think Jarkko Ruutu is the league's biggest pussy. A dirty player that is scared to fight. If he keeps playing the way he is someone is going to end up killing him. He kept running back to the Ottawa bench, because Guy Carboneau would put Laraque on no matter who was on the ice. He is afraid to be "tough" with anyone other than smaller guys.

your sharks are ranked first this week LEN

http://www.tsn.ca/fantasy_news/feature/?fid=548

also, what a great comeback from the PENS last night, this is the Red Wings the beat. Maybe this is the game that puts their heads back in it. Detroit is going to need better goaltending if they want to win the cup again. They won't do it with Osgood, even if he has won it before.

edit: watch Koivu's pass on the first goal. Jesus he thinks he is Joe Montana...what a nice play short handed.

Ya...what sucks is that they had 57 shot on goal and lost. They pulled that shit against the panthers with 50 shots and lost. WTF? Gotta get it in the goal now...PP still is struggling. Drawing almost 7 penalties per game and only getting one shot in isnt too impressive...they screwed a few 3 on 5s too. I cant wait for it to really click again. We have a few injuries like Nabokov,Mitchel,Chechoo...once they get on the ice it will get near the potential it will take to play into spring.

Really happy for Korpikoski

I know exactly what he's like, and I understand your critique completely. But.. I've always had a problem when someone says he's scared to fight, no matter with who. I've seen him take one for the team soo many times that I can't imagine he's 'scared' of anybody.

Except maybe for Georges, lol.

I do admit that he's done some of the most uncalled for crazy things I've ever seen, 9/10 it's the elbow. I've hoped for ten years that he'd get banned from the NHL and came back to us

He's just one of those guys that you can't like if you play against him.

If I feel unsatisfied with him I just re-watch the Tucker fight and fall in love again.

But I'm biased, I love him to death, always have, always will.

He said it himself in an interview after that incident that he doesn't want to be grey, he wants to be black or white. He likes to be hated just as much as he wants to be loved.

So I was at the Rangers-Capitals game on Saturday.

Verizon Center had a good vibe to it. Although the atmosphere seems a lil forced, the Caps fans were really into it. You can easily notice that last year's 7 game thriller against the Flyers has energized the long timers and brought more curious fans to the gate. Even though it's a near impossible task to overthrow the Redskins as the dominant team in DC, there is definitely a lot of potential for the Beltway to be a very good even great hockey city similar to Philly.

edit: as for the game, the 1st two periods had to be the worst I've ever seen the Rangers play in person. If it wasn't for Ludnqvist, the score line could have been easily 5-1

He got suspended for 2 games, and Laraque even said when they play again in january, he is going to beat him up even if it costs him a suspension and he does not fight back. Watch him run from Laraque here, to drop the gloves with the guy who is 5'9. I understand him doing that, but i can guarantee that because of the gestures he made to fans, he will end up being injured next time we meet.

look closely at number 17..and watch ruutu run.

this is gonna get him killed.

he got pwned by our smallest player

Posted by bamski on Nov-13-2008 23:24:

I'll admit that you don't fucking injure an opponent and carry on with gestures like that, that's just sad. Damn.

Posted by elFreak on Nov-14-2008 02:40:

i have never been so embarassed to be a montreal canadiens fan as i was tonight. What a fucking display of no heart. These stupid french idiots are stuffing the ballot boxes for the all star game when maybe 1 guy actually deserves to be there.

pathetic.

Pens had a fun shootout!

Sharks and flames now. Hopefully it will be a solid game. So far lots of pressure.

Posted by L.E.N. on Nov-14-2008 04:27:

Sharks are on fire!

3 for 3 on the PP

4-0 end of 1st.

Finally seeing the PP pay off...and its scary. We will see if its like that in the 3rd.

Posted by L.E.N. on Nov-14-2008 06:03:

Sharks looked like they should. If this is what it will be like in march then it looks good. Ive been waiting for a game with the results. This system is dangerous when its on.

I saw a replay of that ridiculous goal line stick save. Holy shit

edit: Let me try to find it

Posted by elFreak on Nov-14-2008 15:18:

The pens have been on fire lately.

michal rozsival was pulling his best malik impression but the rangers were still able to beat the leader of the scrub division. (without gomez btw)

hahaha

Fuckin sucks to wait til sunday....

Lundqvist and the penalty kill have been pretty been the sole reason why the Rangers have been in 1st place in the Atlantic. The power play is STILL killing me (0-6 on the PP and give up 1 short handed goal?! )

Posted by L.E.N. on Nov-16-2008 21:42:

Sharks vs. Blackhawks in 2 hours in Chicago. Should be a fun one. First time we are playing Campbell since he left. Cheechoo is back on the ice after a 4 game injury. Nabokov is still injured but might play tomorrow but I doubt it. Sometime this week he will be playing though. Our 3rd jerseys unveil this week too.

Posted by L.E.N. on Nov-17-2008 02:13:

Habs had an interesting one!

Sharks look so sloppy tonight. There was a good fight and solid hits but way too many mistakes.

Its 5-5 in the 3rd now...so hopefully they can win while playing like shit.

Posted by L.E.N. on Nov-17-2008 02:48:

Well they pulled it off...now it nashville again tomorrow. Gotta avenge that loss.

First team to 30 points!
