I see more and more people dropping out, but so far only one because of the genre he got. Apart from that, some other people seriously need a kick in the butt. Get your stuff done!!!

Posted by david.michael on Apr-02-2009 12:49:

I haven't ditched you yet, I promise.

I recorded something last weekend, but wasn't really satisfied with the mixing. However, the tracks and the order will stay as is. I just need to record it again, but that might take a while due to this fucking ear infection I got. I stayed home sick today because of this, so I got the time, but I really can't stand anything loud.

Just hang in there guys, I will come through!

Well, it shouldn't be more than a week. All next week is a national holiday, so I will have plenty of time for my ear to get better and to record it. Sorry it took so long guys.

ha me also, i've been fucking swamped with school this week. it's ready to go i just gotta finish the important shit first.

anyways

@Mr.Mystery - i listened to your mix twice just in case i'd feel differently about it the second time around, but i kept thinking to myself, "man, i can't believe i used to get down with this sound" mixed great, especially since you mixed it entirely with vinyl (which i respect more than someone spinning CDs) but the whole genre was just.. eugh.

@ahp2002 - apart from one out-of-phrase mix at the beginning, i enjoyed the mix (listened to it while exercising). again, i had the same mr.mystery phenomenon where i thought, "man, i can't believe i used to get down with this sound."

@ZeJayMan - i always liked your mixes and i appreciate the fact that you introduced me into a flavor of techno that i haven't paid much attention to. excellent mix. and tbh i'm glad you kept it short for this competition- working through 7-10 70 minute mixes would be too much in too short a period of time.

thannks very much dude. i still listen to your boratto vs hamptons tune. i still think it's better than the original which is an awesome song.

wanna swap fuck faces?

This was a great mix and a definite keeper!

Also listened to the Italo Disco mix...love, LOVE the first song but the transition into the next one was absolutely terrible. Rest of the mix flowed well though and I quite enjoyed it, even though it's a genre I haven't really listened to at all in the past and didn't really even know how it was defined musically.

thanks a lot mate nice to hear some appreciation. it was a chore for me to do as this style is the furthest point away from what i listen to.. and yeah lol the firsty mix was god awful, basically the first 50 seconds to the 2nd track is no rhythm or anything, just random talking.. i thought id got it right, then when the synth came in it turns out is was out of time, so i hit the 'sync button' in traktor to try to quickly rectify it, but it sent t further out :S

but yeah i mixed this using traktor and without headphones also, and im new to traktor, i got it purely to do this mix. there was another ropey mix later on, but other than that im pleased with it

but anyways, thanks for your kind words

Mixed mine [Dubstep] tonight... twice. Will upload sometime tomorrow (when I decide which version to upload)

Bump

Where are those fucking mixes people

Posted by wotyzoid on Apr-07-2009 03:08:

Honestly, it's not even worth it anymore. It's so stupid that half the people can't even come around a post a stupid little short mix. I can't help but be a bit disappointed.

Forgot to mention that I listened to your prog breaks mix, mate. Definitely a solid mix for something that can so easily have the genre police jump all over, because no one can really give a true identifying sound to that specific niche. All around very enjoyable on my end. Great job!

People where so enthusiastic when signing up, but apparently some realised that it also requires work from them. I certainly see how one can be pretty busy, but it's over a month now and one should find find a few hours to record a mix in that time.

Posted by david.michael on Apr-07-2009 12:43:

Sorry guys, I actually really was that busy, and am still as enthused about this as ever. I recorded my mix and I'm uploading it now, will post it in a few.

Hopefully you'll find it worth the wait... I don't have the tracklist with me, so that will have to go up later.

(Just for what it's worth: I only have about a 2 - 3 hour window when I get home from work until our little girl goes to bed, and we are in the middle of trying to buy a house, so I simply never had a sufficient window of time to find and mix the tracks. I finally was able to do it this past weekend, but my router died and I couldn't upload it. So, I burnt it to a CD and brought it into work, which brings me to now. So, it's not like I was just too lazy or anything.)

Many different reasons from different people.

Why did you even took this challenge in the first place if you all are too busy?

1.) I said I'm uploading it now...

2.) I didn't know that we were going to find a house and try to buy it suddenly. Sometimes life happens.

Posted by Lebezniatnikov on Apr-07-2009 13:17:

Shit man, you gotta put life on hold for stuff like this.

Posted by david.michael on Apr-07-2009 13:59:

Alrighty, here it goes. Again, really sorry for the delay! Hopefully I don't get banned from further contests. I was able to piece together the tracklist from my Beatport receipt.

Also, I'm also almost certain that there will be some argument as to whether or not all these tracks are able to be purely defined as dubstep, because: A.) Dubstep is widely disputed and undefined as a genre, and B.) I leaned a lot more towards the "listening music" side of Dubstep, rather than the "clubby/gathering" side of it.

I'm very, very happy that I was able to enter this contest and get this genre, because it's one that I have wanted to explore for a while now (I wasn't much familiar beforehand, outside of Burial). As with other genres, there is a lot of garbage to be sifted through to get to the gems, but the gems are amazing.

Anyways, blah blah blah, on with the show.
