Sorry, these are pretty standard but I don't have the time or energy to search too deeply. Maybe Highmay will provide more of the "artsy" ones... Here's some of my favorites: 70's -One Flew Over the Cuckoo's Nest (one of my 5 favorite movies) -Deer Hunter -Deliverance -Taxi Driver -Chinatown -Clockwork Orange -Apocalypse Now 60's -The Hustler, with Paul Newman (precursor to Color of Money) -To Kill a Mockingbird -Doctor Zhivago (sort of chick flick but damn good) -Midnight Cowboy Before 60's -On the Waterfront (Marlon Brando is awesome) -Grapes of Wrath -Citizen Kane |
Was gonna go just for Ultra... but thats dumb to spend $400 on plane tix for one party, stay one weekend... I'll wait till I'm 21 and can go to 10 parties, then the fixed cost will be worth it... so March 2007 here I come... woohoo

you ever check out the list of all the movies that the Jeopardy champ Ken Jennings watched?

I haven't seen neither Deliverance nor The Grapes of Wrath yet...theyre on my list, but I have to finish off Bergman and Antonioni first (Blowup was fucking awesome)...I already gave people my favorites in a previous thread... 8 1/2 Godard's Breathless Apocalypse Now Amarcord Cries & Whispers Touch of Evil (Orson Welles's Cut) Passion of Joan of Arc Double Indemnity The Descreet Charm of the Bourgeoisie Duck Soup Annie Hall Manhattan Godfather Shawshank Redemption Memento Mulholland Drive Elephant Man Sexy Beast Schindler's List It Happened One Night... The Seventh Seal Forrest Gump ...btw Member of X, if you liked Citizen Kane, you'll adore Touch of Evil...make sure you get orson welle's director's cut and not the bullshit studio release... |
Let's not forget Ben Kingsley in "House of Sand & Fog." To me a wonderful movie even though I wanted to kill myself after watching it. One of the most depressing movies ever.

| Originally posted by Member of X Cool, I own like half your list but there's 7-8 I haven't seen. I've been looking for something to rent besides all the current garbage that inundates the shelves. "Deliverance" is pretty intense, of course famous for one particular scene but also for the "Dueling Banjos" song. Ahhh, "Grapes of Wrath" with Jimmy Stewart. He's in that and one of my other favorite holiday movies in "It's a Wonderful Life." "Sexy Beast!" I love that movie even though it took me like the first 20 minutes before I gathered the accent well enough. Hard to look past Ben Kingsley as one of the best actors too (Sexy Beast, Schindler's List, Ghandi). I first saw "Citizen Kane" in my History of Motion Pictures class at college. It was remarkable and I think a must see for anyone that cares about film because it sparked so much further development in later films. I don't typically like Woody Allen but I thought Annie Hall was very good, very funny. Anthony Hopkins in Elephant Man looks young. One of my most memorable lines too, "I'm not an animal!" |
