A lot of tedious crap to do

cool, i got into automated stuff this summer, we were able to get the test cycle down from 4 weeks (manual) to 4 days (automated)on an entire platform of products. it was pretty cool to play with big computers that had a ton of I/O.

we weren't able to automate everything but the stuff that we couldn't could be completed in the 4 days it took the automated stuff to run. although we did miss some bugs somehow. =(

We're working on automating all of our tests. We'll eventually have it.

The one joy I have with being in QA in breaking the build...just a nice satisfying feeling. Our of the last four builds that we got, three of them were broken in less than 30 seconds (25 seconds, 10 seconds and 3 seconds)...and we were running manual tests too

edit: I just remembered that we automate our smoke tests

what do you mean by "breaking the build"? We use it as the build NOT running--some fatal exception happening so that the code can't compile--I'm surprised QA would get a broken build--should get caught sooner, as in "damn, the build won't run anymore".

Or do you mean finding a fatal error post-install?

yea this movie looks fucking HOT HOT!

i've always been a fan of mr.dick ... some of his recent movies have been avg (minority report), poor (paycheque)... but bladerunner will always remain a classic.

i'm excited for scanner darkly b/c i've read that it's his best novel (and semi autobiographical too). plus the graphics look amazing in the trailers.. whoa!

i dont mind it at all. in fact, i prefer sleeping til noon, doing whatever i want all afternoon, and then going into work at 5. i love my job, and i dont even notice i'm there almost 12 hours, and it doesnt bother me getting out that late. i'm actually really goign to miss it.

i dont even rent anymore though. i owe so many late fees to blockbuster, and i prefer to buy movies anyway. if you buy previously viewed, they usually dont cost all that much. but danny is going to kill me if i buy another dvd before we move. as it is, we have about 500 dvds between the 2 of us, and not enough room in the u-haul.

Posted by Highmay on Feb-26-2005 15:04:

just get fucking Manhattan and stop complaining...you know, develop some taste, ok? for your own self-worth, please??

Posted by glittergirl on Feb-26-2005 15:10:

*raises an eyebrow*

"for my own self worth?" !!!!!!

i am jumping out of bed as we speak and hurriedly throwing on shoes and going out to get. i dont want to degrade myself any longer with my ignorance!

Posted by Highmay on Feb-26-2005 15:13:

now THAT'S MORE LIKE IT!! I expect a full report of the movie by noon today...

Posted by glittergirl on Feb-26-2005 15:14:

oh, did i say i was going out to buy it??
nah... i am just rolling back over in bed and i'm going to dream about it, lol.

soon highmay!! soon!

im terrible with late fees at blockbuster... get netflix.. i highly recomend it... you can pick all your movies online, and they come in the mail, you send them back in an envelope with the postage already paid whenever you feel like it.... no late fees!!! its definitely saved me some $$$

Posted by glittergirl on Feb-26-2005 15:27:

nah, renting seems like such a hassle to me.
i would rather own the movie and get to watch it any time i want.
and if it sucks, i trade it in to get the new releases cheap
