Why were you teaching that?

It gets me continuing education credits so I can keep my state licenses active. You need 48 credits every 4 years. This teaching gave me 24 all at once.

How'd you get into that line of work? What exactly does a Financial Planner do?

I was a finance/marketing major in college. This was the natural progression. Financial planners are pretty much like financial advisors with some perks. I work with private clients and corporations working with stocks/bonds/mutual funds/401k's/403b's/life insurance/disability insurace/IRA's/Roth IRA's/College Funding/Estate Planning/Long Term Care/etc...

Thats the most general way I can explain it

It's also nice because I work for myself so I make my own hours and take as much vacation as I want
