Pretty much 80% of the NE 1, 2, and Expeditions tracks belong on this list...

I follow producers. I don't buy music based on what dj licensed what for what compilation. Who the fuck cares what they hype?
Dj compilations are nothing than a marketing thing for people who don't know any better....
I payed 80$ for my mint copy and this is more than I payed for some of my rare UR singles that were never featured in any superstar barbie girl Dj comp.
80$ for one 12'' because of some empty compilation hype.

This is what's wrong with our scene in so many ways!
See... it went from being a subculture to a fully blown industry too fast and too soon and now people will not buy ''Charles May - Expander'' like they will buy 'Sasha - Expander' even though Charles May wrote the track...

Now I know this is a breakbeat tune so I will try my very best to 'somehow link it to trance DJs' since most trance consumers follow trance djs.

Hmm... *scratches head*... upon a time 'big room electro/neo prog',/'watered down minimal' laptop dj Sasha played this track next to the progressive trance and epic trance stuff like BT and Paul van dyk.
BT made and Paul van dyk played tracks sold under 'Tiesto'
Tiesto is a trance businessman ...

As you can clearly see now this is not 'too far from trance djs'.
Add it to the list!

consider it done man
i just hope you understand my point of view. there are no rules in this topic, but thats the way i started this topic. and to keep things somehow structured, one must have some rules/borders in which you can suggest things. as i said, there are sometimes thin lines in which release can be 'trance-related', or not .. most of the time, it'll be trance-related. but (some) techno is good too to be added .. btw, not trance-related comes from the fact that i started this thread because i like trance most (at least, at the moment i started this thread). for instance, BoC is EDM too, if im right, but too submit all their rare releases might be out of the concept of my original question. although has grown a lot since i started it, my question of course becomes less important. its not that i now want to keep the list strictly to what i want in it (ith regards to genre's etc), and what not ... there's room now for more genre's/era's/etc...

just keep em coming

This is a FAKE release, ID&T did never release this. I got this confirmed from ID&T insider.

This pretends to be rare, but I think some dude made a cover and someway sold it or something? 18 people say they have this Tiesto at Sensation album, but it never got an official release. Please help me out here

The rest of the rips on the 2x12" are from half decent sources .. the fact that it's named 'Born Sloppy' and that it is identical to a version i asked a TA to do years ago using a rip from a Fritz show confirm its 'dodgyness'

Blighty,

Sorry, there's no way I'll record this to an mp3, which is exactly what my Discogs.com profile states. I don't want to see bootlegs of it appear, like what's happened with many other previously hard-to-find records. Even if you promised not to distribute it, I can't be sure it wouldn't happen. Besides, if you paid quite a bit of money for a record b/c the song was very hard to find, I'm sure you wouldn't want it to suddenly appear all over the place (mp3, vinyl, or otherwise). If Dtox Records wants to press more of these, that's cool w/ me, but I'm not contributing.

This is a repress of the original release, which is why it's available now. If it hadn't gotten one, I would've wished you luck finding one cheap. Apparently Orbital and/or Internal Records needed some more cash.

Actually, it's because of DJs that we're exposed to as much of this music as we are. If they didn't play tracks by new/unknown artists, how would you hear them? Granted, in the current age of electronic distribution, it's easier to get access to more people via the 'Net. But, back in the mid-90s or earlier, most of the tracks played by major DJs (Sasha/Digweed/Oakenfold/Carl Cox/etc/etc) would never have received the popularity they did, because there wouldn't have been any other way to hear them.

Also, just like some people will buy any track certain DJs play, there's plenty of other people would appreciate QUALITY music, and will buy a great track regardless of the name on it. Sasha or Charlie May, I'd buy "Expander" either way.

Found a copy a long long long time ago in a local secondhand store, cost me only pennies at the time because the owner didn't know what gem he had there and to be honest, i didn't really know either but because the sticker on the sleeve said "Orbital Mix" for one of the tracks, i needed to grab it right away as i already was a huge Orbital fan(atic) back then. And oh boy have i praised the old man upstairs several times for giving me a chance to find it like that.. i'm soo happy! Nowadays i think i have everything Orbital related, every single one of their releases and remixes and then some.

It's definitely gotten easier to find "rare" stuff in the past year. Picked up quite a few ridiculously hard to find records in the past months for not much at all.

Regarding your Orbital stuff, I have quite a few of their releases, the hardest-to-find probably being these:

Orbital - In-Sides (4xLP)
EMF - They're Here (D-ream mix) / It's You (Orbital remix)

Got the vinyl editions of all Orbital albums and i also have the It's You remix on promo vinyl but it's the release with more It's You mixes instead of that one you have there... damnit!

I need to pay more attention which out of all my Orbital related records are rare or otherwise hard to get but maybe on another day. I do have pretty rare Orbital remixes on 2 Japanese CDs tho; a compilation and a single and them i have never seen on any other releases anywhere letting alone vinyls. Those CDs alone took more than enough effort to get hold of even back in the late 90s so i'm done with those tracks as i now have the tracks on some actual format and as they are CDs, i'd leave them out of here.

hey Chris/Nick (fc*k, i forgot your name, but youre the one i sold cranberries to, right?)

thnx for the suggestions. they're added. nunca should indeed definately be in it. it was sold recently on ebay for 60 euro's. dont know the exact amount of cash anymore, but it was far more then i would have expected. that other release, from The Beloved, i've seen it before on ebay. anyway, both have been added.
and you keep up the good additions too mate

how bout this one; Suzuki K1 >> 7.5cc - Satellite Serenade Part 1 (AO Records) ?? its from the original nothern exposure 2xCD. seen on the # of wants, it quite wanted. but i dont know the tune by even the slightest bit, nor know if its within this thread regarding the genre ...

Regarding the genres, stop worrying about it. Almost everything that's been suggested is electronic music, and if you're gonna trim the genre down to just trance, you'll have to remove a bunch of stuff that's already in the list. The release you mentioned is wanted b/c it's on the first Northern Exposure set. The first two Northern Exposure sets are as much techno, ambient, progressive, etc, as trance. It's the type of music which inspired the trance which is constantly talked about here, the stuff Armin, Tiesto and PvD play to death.

To that end, I suppose this release should be in the RareRecords wants on Discogs. It appears fairly often on eBay and other sites, definitely not as hard to find as the blue vinyl version:

Satellite Serenade (blue vinyl)

That one should DEFINITELY be in the list.

Also, the amount of money a record gets on eBay is NOT RELATED to how rare or wanted it is. It might've been different a few years ago, but not anymore. I've purchased plenty of records in the list for next-to-nothing on eBay, so monetary value on eBay is a pointless measure. Sure, some records will go for a lot of money, but many will not, and it's not a useful way to figure out what's wanted any longer.

EDIT:

This NRC - Here Comes The Rain (Push remixes) 12" was apparently limited to 50 copies. 50 for the entire world?!? You'd think it would sell for more than $26, which it just sold for on eBay this past weekend. $26 is a whole lot less than the other records you've mentioned for other records, and those other records are much easier to find. It's simply not a way to measure how rare a record is any longer.

i agree 100%. prices are no measures. but im (especially compard to you) still a big n00b in the rarities-business
anyway, i sometimes find it hard to exactly, and directly, make myself clear. my point is just this; i just hope all suggestions (of rare records) keep close to the origin of the thread. and as long its EDM, im okay with it. i couldnt agree more with your statement/opinion, waxHead. thnx again for helping keeping this thread alive, and clear .. i hope you understand me too

Nice ones!

Actually, I think that this one is the first original release of Universal Nation.

Your copy is actually more worth and sought after I think
