youve become a handbag dj just like our dear friend from Way Out West Teknoscraper

Posted by djway on Mar-10-2005 12:28:

Gilly; that's the shit I'm talking about Take it a bit more tech-house and I'd be in heaven. Very solid looking set tho.

A big fan of quite a few of those records.

Slade: That TL looks sweet too, hit us up a copy if you don't mind?

w3rd

I wouldn't call this handbag anyhow. Not that genres really matter when it comes down to quality music This is not what I think of when I think of handbag house. It's not cheesy, it's not commerical.

Gil: Mixing on fucking fire mate!

Slade's TL is looking very much so like good tech-house, nothing handbag about it.

i used a couple of effects that are standard on the cdj-100 but didnt loop.. unfortunately it doesn't have the option to do that ! dam pioneer!

Posted by muli on Mar-11-2005 02:55:

wade just told me it's actually the track, the zabs remix.

Had me there for a second :P

I've been playing around with similar things on my cdj1000 so thought it was tres cool.

Ok this mix sucks now, lies all lies! hahaha just kidding, tight as fuck mix

Trafik - Echoes (Petter Remix) [Global Underground]
Mathew Jonson - Decompression EP (Ultraviolet Dream) [Minus Inc]

Sequence Date: November 2004

The set's 48 mins long, so sorta a mini mix, it was made to show a slice of prog and a slice of tech house, any longer and I'd of thrown the balance off. (It's 3 tech house, 3 prog, and a 1 min intro to and from each).

Thanks to TranceTribe for their hosting, greatly appreciated.

Posted by Sid on Mar-14-2005 10:59:

Posted by 00soups00 on Mar-14-2005 21:33:

I will be playing at Altitude this Thursday 17th March

at 7pm

cheap drinks... and free entry and some cool melodic prog/trance

doesnt get too much better then this on a thursday night, unless you're gumble and choose to stay home and have a pull in front of the tv...

See You There...

Posted by JayKuE on Mar-14-2005 23:19:

gil and wade. those are some awesome mixes.
its good too see everybody diversifying into their own now.

soups, if all goes well, i should be playing right after you on the 17th

Posted by 00soups00 on Mar-15-2005 00:17:

well just so you know ill be finish with prog around the 135bpm mark

and make sure u come down at 7, and ill stay for your set

oh, and they use Xone92 or Xone62, so theres no bpm counters no the mixer or anything..

Posted by Slade on Mar-15-2005 01:23:

What kind of idiot predicts what BPM they're going to be playing the end of their set at?

you really are a fuk wit mate.

the reason for me informing him, is because its an open decks night.

just like the new horizons, its generally people who are new to playing otu and may already be nervous as fcuk about doing it, so giving them a heads up is anice thing to do to relieve their stresses. Also because the xones dont have any bpm counters, i thought he might want to know, because during the new horizons the person who was playing after me didnt know there wasnt going to be any info on the xone mixers..

Posted by escee on Mar-15-2005 03:37:

i dont want to sound like an elitist

but do you people that use djm600s actually look at the beat counters? for real?

Posted by Aesthetic on Mar-15-2005 03:38:

yeah, i thought no one bothered

Posted by escee on Mar-15-2005 04:42:

To keep this thread on track gil's mixing was excellent. I didnt really like the tracks, but the mixing was spot on. I enjoyed djways mix more since I liked the tunes better. In summation both were pretty good.

hehe thats cool man.. wait for the 'grow of electro' as i like to say and maybe one day you will.. personally each and every part of me is being owned by it right now and most probably for a long time to come, but i'll never limit myself to only one genre.. wades mix was great as i said before.

in reply to the other threads about BPM's.. yeh how can you possibly rely on the counter to give you an exact match? It can definitly be used to give an indication of which way you should move the pitch if you dont already know, but 9/10 times i am assuming the beats will not be exactly matched and will slowly go off sequence. You would probably need a BPM which has an in-between beat counter if there is such a thing to get any useful assistance out of it.
