Originally posted by DJ Mikey Mike A possible twist in the tale... Lewis Hamilton could yet be crowned world champion after Brazilian Grand Prix stewards summoned representatives of BMW Sauber and Williams for alleged technical irregularities. Representative from both teams are meeting with stewards to discuss a technical infringement, which is believed to be a fuel temperature irregularity. Williams driver Nico Rosberg finished fourth, with BMW Sauber's Robert Kubica and Nick Heidfeld fifth and sixth respectively. It is understood fuel temperature issue can give a car extra horsepower advantage, and so is a clear breach of the rules. Should they be disqualified, Hamilton would be promoted to fourth place and therefore earning him enough to be crowned world champion above Kimi Raikkonen. Raikkonen won the race and, should the orginal result stand, would claim the world title by one point from both Hamilton and his McLaren team-mate Fernando Alonso. However, a precedent from 12 years ago means that Hamilton's title hopes remain slim. On that occasion - also in Brazil - Michael Schumacher, driving for Benetton Renault, and David Coulthard who at the time was with Williams, were initially disqualified as their fuel did not conform to samples approved by the FIA after finishing first and second respectively. But a week later the FIA chose to reinstate the drivers' points, while the teams were not allowed to keep the points in the constructors' championship. http://www.skysports.com/story/0,19...2816759,00.html
Oh well, that didn't last long
Stewards confirm Brazilian GP result
Kimi Raikkonen has been confirmed as the 2007 Formula 1 world champion after Brazilian Grand Prix stewards upheld the original race result.
After lengthy deliberations at Interlagos on Sunday evening, the stewards decided not to penalise Williams and BMW Sauber for minor technical irregularities.
FIA technical delegate Jo Bauer said fuel samples taken from the two teams cars during their pit stops in Sundays race revealed temperatures outside the permitted range.
But in a statement issued more than six hours after the end of the race, the stewards said there was sufficient doubt about the fuel temperatures as to render it inappropriate to impose a penalty.

Mclaren has notified FIA its intention to appeal the stewards decision
So if the decision is overturned and BMW and WILLIAMS cars disqualified, KIMI will no longer be the champion and Lewis will be one

What an ending at last the ICE MAN has become World Champion, couldn't be more happier. Congrats to the Ferrari team working very hard and never letting go even when I myself felt the championship was to be forgotten.
Don't feel sorry for McLaren after the spying scandal although i feel sorry for Hamilton after putting brilliant performances all year round as a rookie. HAHA TO ALFONSO.
FORZA KIMI
FORZA FERRARI

I do think McLaren might have a case here, but Lewis won't come out champion out of it.
Fuck yeah, what a way to end the season! (except for the controversies afterwards..) The race was absolutely perfect, insanely tense, and the completely unlikely, but right result came out of it.

Lewis Hamilton has admitted that his bid for this year's Formula One Championship seemingly came to an end during the last race of the season following a moment of human error. "My finger slipped on the steering wheel and I accidentally pressed the button used for the starting sequence," Hamilton confided several hours after the event, according to Montreal's French-language daily newspaper La Presse. That error cut power to his McLaren for an interminable minute, dropping him down to 18th place as the Brazilian Grand Prix entered its eighth lap on the Interlagos circuit. "The car went into neutral and I had to reinitialize the system, that is, reload the gearbox management program," he explained. The onboard camera recorded images of Hamilton pressing several buttons on his steering wheel while other drivers sped by. Once his McLaren car was back up to speed, Hamilton would afterwards work his way back up to seventh place, two positions away from the necessary number of points that would have allowed him to be the first rookie World Champion. However, his title chances might not yet be over: the McLaren team has announced it will appeal the stewards' decision not to sanction the BMW Sauber and Williams teams for possibly using 'cool fuel' during the Brazilian GP, claiming that precise information was not available. If the FIA's Court of Appeal were to overturn the decision and sanction both teams with exclusion, that would remove drivers Nico Rosberg, Robert Kubica and Nick Heidfeld from the rankings and allow Lewis Hamilton to jump from seventh to fourth position in the race's final standings - thereby giving him enough points to become the 2007 World Champion. While McLaren have declared their motive is to support their drivers' best interests, Hamilton himself does not at all feel comfortable with the procedure. "Being promoted after some people have been thrown out is not the way I want to do it," he told Reuters. His thoughts also went to Ferrari driver and provisional title holder Kimi Raikkonen: "To have it taken away is a bit cruel and probably not good for the sport."
So its not bad luck or reliability, it was 2 rookie mistakes. I guess Lewis doesn't have as cool head as many would like to think.
Come on, this is his first year. He will make mistakes. Look at his achievements. Staggering for a rookie.

Originally posted by Orko Yes and no. Yes, he did very well in his first season, better than any other rookie has ever done, but he did it with help. He had the best car on the grid, along with Alanso, and he has been groomed for 12 years by Dennis. The second half of the season, really showed him to be a rookie. In the first half, I think he was just having fun, excited to be even fighting for wins, let alone the title. Once it kicked in, that he may actually have a chance, his nerves came a bit undone. I won't say he failed or chocked, just that he acted like a rookie when it got tough. China and Brazil were both a case of him trying too hard. He could have backed off and just a bit, and gotten much better results; infact his race engineer should have told him to do so. "Calm down, you will get through this, just keep your car straight, and don't over drive". The others played it really cool, and well since they have all been there before, why shouldn't they? Great season by Lewis, hats off, but he is not as cool as the Ice Man.

Massa and Kimi were playing with each other at the end of the race, awesome. They both set fastest laps near the end.
Kimi set the fastest lap of the race on lap 66, @ 1:12.445.
Massa set the 3rd best time on lap 71, @ 1:12.584.
I think this is going to be a great rivalry next year. Massa has battled with everybody this year, and we know he likes to race. He will be so hungry for a championship, he will go all out. Although he was fairly beat this year, I expect him to really fight next season.
Now the question is, who is best with out traction control? I can't wait till the shut that shit off. I want to see more mistakes dammit.
Alonso and McLaren parted ways today. I don't know if one party paid the other to get out of the deal. It sounded like a mutual split according the report on Autosport.com
Don't let the door hit you on the way out.
When Alonso joined Mclaren as a world champion, he expected the team to revolve around HIM. In comes a rookie driver with no formula 1 experience and turns everything upside down ! To the point that the former world champion is out of the team now.
And in other news,
Schumi fastest on day 2 in Barcelona
WTF is up with this man ? Jesus
World Title hearing takes place today
Mclarens are such little bitches. Can't seem to take their $ 100 million fine quietly. Want to stir more shit.
