It makes me angrryyyyyyyyyy Last year Ferry did a ripper of a closing set... it made alot of peoples day, and it was like 20 Fity Billion FOusandz times more energetic that Chemical Brothers were... WHen i left FMF 07, i was so pumped, the set left me with energy and happiness This set... left me a little dissapointed... it lacked energy, the crowd is so fkn fake, everyone sat there pretending to like it, i couldnt handle it i had to leave... i went home saying, well it was good when Digweed came out.. Come on, a closing act should be of epic proportions... EPIC Ferry = Epic Halliwell = Epic Eric Morillo = Epic David Guetta = Epic Daft Punk = Epic Chemical Brothers = Too flat to close |

although i enjoyed their set i agree that they would have been MUCH better at their own show.
the only reason i went to fmf was cos i missed out on tix to their main show so im def not complaining about getting a second chance to see them

No Pass Outs until 4pm
We should have all gymnasiums in the Western suburbs closed down. Maybe we could stand out the front protesting with plastic muzza's stapled to a sandwich board??
I think you really need to be up for the festival vibe or else you will always be disappointed. It can fall flat very easily. I think thats because of the high expectation.
HOW GOOD WAS STEVE MAY!!

what a crap event..seriously
I know it has nothing to do with Future but the sound at their recent events at Myer Music Bowl has been nothing short of terrible. I read a thing in The Age about neighbours of the venue complaining so it looks like they have won.
Future really needs to find a new venue for this sort of thing i think. I love the bowl and have a lot of great memories there but there really is no point having events at a venue where any side stages are like listening to music on a home stereo.
I thought Digweed and Vath were actually quite average. Saw Diggers at Q-bar and was looking forward to his set here but it was just way to flat.
I'm sorry but minimal just doesn't belong on a main stage at a festival like this in the middle to late part of the day.. I love it as a genre but it belongs in a dark, intimate environment not main stage at FMF. Vath (who i have loved since i started partying all those years ago)bored the brains out of me so bad that we left.
Future last year was my highlight of the year and i was so looking forward to this one but this year's was the event i have enjoyed least of all the events i have been to.
this thread has turned to shite
it must be ended
lol
T-soma... let me explain my comment...a group of friends, who happen to be younger (18-19), did not know the likes of chemical from the early days... this is because no 6 year old will go to Brashes (back then) and request Exit Planet Dust or Dig your own hole... These kids were still listening to Chip Munks christmas albums and the wiggles if they were even around back then.
All of a sudden future puts up the lineup for FMF and they are all like OMFG JIZZFEST its the Chemical Brothers !!!
I wasnt even matured enough to know what electronic music is when they hit it big but who cares everyone else is doing it, yeaaaa lets go to FMF and pretend to know who these guys are...
No wonder everyone is complaining about how average FMF was... Its because the die hards went to see Chemical in concert, and the only ones who liked them at FMF were the ones who missed out on their concert.
Just because people drop pills at go nuts at events doesnt mean they actually like the music... its most likely the drugs talking
kids
Scott you are just pissed off that you didnt get to see me!!

FMF this year wasnt too bad, i had a fun time, however it was more about the friends i was with then us going to see 'professional music spinners'. thought diggers played some solid tunes, however i do have to say that Markus was the highlight for me... i wasnt gaga like i have been about markus previously, however he smashed it out and dropping VDM - Fly Away (pity it was a remake) and then having the fireworks in the background was a *tear/gurn/wow* moment....
had fun, probably at the end of my festival career, and must say i had more fun the year before, but that couldve been the fact i consumed two pebbles right before nick warren thx to a bald headed TA's text msg. ...

Agree with everything said in the last two posts.
Eddie Halliwell should have played though instead of Chem Bros, just my choice of music. Halliwell would have tech-tranced it, and whipped those muzzas from here to Grease. I saw Mark Sherry even and, man, having him at the main stage @ FMF, would have rocked. I love trance, so that why I'm bringing up these two driving dj's.
But hey, what does Future know, just commercial stuffies
Yeah I can see Mark Sherry headlining would have been a great idea
Future knows nothing. You should run the next one
u know what I mean, gosh!..lol I'd stand by the statement now, if it said Hardware + KRS (Ultraworld team) doing it there.

As stated previously, I think most of the time our feelings/expectations for an event are generally high and we are easily let down.
I would say this has been the case for me the last few years. I am pretty much at the end of my partying days and am sometimes hoping to re live the crazy experiences back in 2001-2005 (more so 2001-2003), which is just not going to happen. Partly due to the fact that it aint as much as an adventure any more, its not 'new and mysterious', nor do I have a large crew of friends that are in the same boat as me. Nothing beats these experiences when you are with a great bunch of 'up for it' friends.
I would also agree that a party is what you make of it, if you really wanna have a good time you will make sure of it and ignore the things that generally give you sh-ts which is generally a lot more as you get older. As I dont go out much, when I do go out I try and enjoy myself!
Once upon a time I would go out in a heartbeat, didnt care who was playing or where it was. Nowadays I am much more selective. The key criteria being
probably sounding like a grumpy old man now)
1. DJ's I currently like or would like to see
2. An expected good atmosphere and vibe.
3. Expect room to move on the dance floor and be able to see the DJ.
4. Friendly up for it a crowd. With similar mindset to me. Love chatting to people.
5. No stupid lining up.
Standard stuff really...?
I went to Future hoping it wouldn't be like Summadayze and I could experience something similar to a summadayze of old back at the bowl. Unfortunately I was wrong in most regards. I had an OK'ish time in the end and am glad I went in the scheme of things. But I think that if points 3 and 5 were met I would have had an awesome time as I would have gotten into it SO MUCH more. Even if I didnt really agree with what some of the DJ's playing and where they were playing (like bateman said). I also just refused to line up and get mangled on the dancefloor, despite some of the other annoying things I managed to turn a blind eye to.
The main reason for my not having such a good time is because Future are massively over selling these events now which is beyond ridiculous. Nothing more than greedyness and obsene money making. This is easily summadayze part 2 for the year. Gone are the days where you could easily find a spot on the grass, get a drink, then have a quick wander on the dance floor for a boogey. I remember being on the dancefloor for the full day at summadayze 2001-2002 and never had issues finding friends or square centimetres of space.
I can't see future selling less tickets to these events in future. Because of this it will take a bit to get me back to the Myer Music Bowl. I could easily say right now I wont be going back again...
