maybe when he learns to hit free throws
Bosh + Parker for Biedrins + Ellis
GS has a lot of guards and could let Monta go. Salaries match with Parker's inclusion and his contract is up anyway, so GS gives up 20 mil and takes on 15, giving them cash to find an experienced C to split time with Turiaf.
think GS bites?
Calderon-Ellis-Marion-Bargnani-Biedrins

yeah...I don't mean for that to sound like it would 'suck' to have him on the Raps. just a little dig (I don't like the Magic for some reason)
now I feel guilty for supporting Bosh being traded. he even invites everyone to his party, haha:
Hey I'm not hating on Bosh when I say he should be traded. That's just the reality of it all. We all know Colangelo drafted Bargs to be "THE MAN" on this team. Bosh was just a hold over until Bargnani develops imo. I just really really hope that when the day comes that Bosh is traded the goddamn tools in this city don't boo him when he comes back.
Bosh-Parker for Ellis-Biedrins....hmmm..I think like we're giving up too much talent. I'd still want Randolph and a draft pick since Colangelo brilliantly traded all of them away for God knows what.
Finally a win!
Raptors played really well today, Bargnani still emerging and hopefully stays consistent. That third quarter was really fun to watch, high intensity and good defense.
LOL yea nothing to bitch about after yesterdays game. Cept for Marion...this guy has been AWOL lately (except for that vicious dunk on Granger: see below) My fantasy teams are hurting!

TORONTO STAR
Raptor Bosh a deadbeat dad, lawsuit says
Dave Feschuk
March 24, 2009
Allison Mathis is demanding child support from Raptors star Chris Bosh, saying he paid for fertility drugs, then left her when she was pregnant.
Chris Bosh, the face of Toronto's struggling NBA franchise, is being cast in U.S. court documents as a deadbeat father who broke up with his girlfriend when she was seven months pregnant, leaving her destitute and without medical care even as she fell ill.
The court documents, filed in Maryland on behalf of Bosh's former live-in girlfriend, Allison Mathis, who is seeking child support and sole custody, allege that in early 2008 Mathis and Bosh planned to get married. According to the filings, whose allegations have been denied by Bosh, they made a consensual decision to have a child together and Bosh, who is earning a salary of $14.4 million (U.S.) this season, paid for a fertility drug to hasten the process.
Not long after Mathis conceived at last year's NBA all-star weekend in New Orleans, according to a sworn affidavit signed by Mathis the couple moved into a jointly owned $1.6 million home in Frisco, Tex.
But upon Bosh's return from the Beijing Olympics in August of last year, the player signalled his intention to, according to the complaint, "move on" from the relationship. With Mathis seven months pregnant it is alleged Bosh stopped supporting her financially and attempted to have her removed from their home. Without money to pay for her obstetrician appointments, let alone a means of transportation to attend them, Mathis, according to the documents, suffered "breakthrough bleeding and a constantly upset stomach" while utility companies threatened to disconnect her electricity, gas and water.
According to the filings, Mathis returned to the Maryland suburbs of Washington, where she had grown up, to live with her mother in a two-bedroom apartment; was admitted to hospital due to complications in the pregnancy; and delivered the baby by emergency C-section on Nov. 2. Four-month-old Trinity Meyers Mathis, according to the documents, has laid eyes on her father but twice, both times in his hotel room when the Raptors were in town to face the Wizards.
The complaint, which contains allegations that have not been proven in court, says Bosh contested his paternity before genetic testing determined a 99.97 per cent probability that he is Trinity's father. Bosh, who turns 25 today, did not return a request for comment yesterday. Said Vincent Wills, Bosh's Maryland-based attorney: "Obviously Chris denies all the allegations in the complaint. We're going to be filing our response to the filing within the next week or so."
The case, perhaps, is the missing piece in explaining a sometimes puzzling decline in the on-court performance of Bosh and the Raptors. Bosh, an iconic figure in Toronto and beyond known both for his athletic prowess and his gift for starring in viral Internet videos, was proclaiming himself a candidate for league MVP in the midst of a stellar November. But Mathis filed suit on Nov. 26, 2008, and, not long after, Bosh and the Raptors fell into an abyss. Bosh, who averaged 26 points a game on 54 per cent shooting in November, averaged 21 points a game on 44 per cent shooting in December, and the team he leads, after putting together a win-loss record of 8-8 in October and November, went 4-12 for December, a stretch of abysmal play that saw coach Sam Mitchell fired and a hotly anticipated season began to disintegrate into its current tatters.
Mathis, 28, met Bosh in 2005 and was a hard-to-miss courtside fixture for most of the previous couple of seasons. Once a personal chef to the Dallas Cowboys, according to the filings, she was for a while Bosh's near-constant companion. Last year she sported a sizeable ring on the finger usually reserved for matrimonial promises even as Bosh denied an engagement, and she became something of a public figure when LeBron James, the Cleveland Cavaliers all-star, cited her courtside trash-talking as a motivating factor in James's 39-point outpouring in a Cleveland win at the Air Canada Centre. The video of Mathis jawing with James was shown on highlight loops around the continent. "(Mathis) got more (TV) time than me and Bosh," James said after that game.
Mathis did not return a call seeking comment yesterday. Said Lois Finkelstein, Mathis's Maryland attorney: "We will reserve our comments for the court."
The complaint against Bosh speaks of Mathis's bleak existence since she left the couple's Texas home last summer.
"(Mathis's) expenses are mounting both for her and (Trinity), but she has no way to satisfy these obligations," it states. "(Mathis) has asked (Bosh) to assist with these expenses, but he has failed and refused to do so ... (despite) his overwhelming ability to do so."
Though Bosh remained silent yesterday, he has spoken periodically of his "trying" season, and club insiders have whispered allusions to "off-court stuff" to explain his inconsistencies. In hindsight, he appears to have taken some public joy in fatherhood, albeit cryptically. On Jan. 7, the day of Bosh's alleged first meeting with his daughter in that D.C. hotel room, the Raptors captain posted an effusive message on Twitter, the micro-blogging site to which he is a frequent contributor, which belied his professional struggles and his personal turmoil.
"I'm on top of the world right now," went Bosh's tweet. "I've seen the new light!"

Ettore Messina: the Next Raptors Coach and Next Great NBA Coach?
http://my.thescore.com/courtsurfing...-nba-coach.aspx
Wahoo 6 wins in a row (probably 7 tomorrow), too little too late but I hope this gives all the Raps confidence going into the off-season especially Bargnani. Not too sure why they're doing so well, perhaps they're not under pressure anymore to get into the play offs or maybe it truly is cause Calderon is 100% and Bargnani playing well.

But before you dismiss him for his lack of NBA experience, read the schemes he was running to win the Euroleague in 2006 vs Tel Aviv. This is the kinda x's and o's we need, and although I'm not completely sold on him, it might be an interesting thing to read for the real b-ball nutcases out there... Addressing a need for frontcourt toughness and dealing away a disappointing free-agent acquisition, the Raptors made a trade today, acquiring Reggie Evans from the Philadelphia 76ers for Jason Kapono.
League sources say the trade will be officially announced this afternoon.
Evans, a 6-8, 245-pound power forward, is considered one of the more physical players in the league. Toughness is an aspect of the game Toronto has been lacking for years.
While he's not an offensive threat averaging just 3.3 points per game last season with the Sixers his rebounding average of 4.6 boards in just 14 minutes per game should earn him some playing time with Toronto.
Kapono, one of the top three-point shooters in the NBA, never really found a niche with the Raptors, who signed him as a free agent before the 2007-08 season. The 6-8 Kapono averaged just 8.2 points per game and shot only 42 per cent from three-point range last season.
The deal also gives Toronto some financial flexibility.
Evans is owed $4.6 million next season and $5 million in 2010-11 on his contract.
Kapono's deal will pay him $6.2 million this coming season and $6.6 million the season after.

Kapono was clearly not worth his contract.
Evans may not be a big deal, but it's a solid move.
Not sure how much playing time he'll get, but he actually tops Bosh in reb/48min, if you project out both their averages from last year.
Maybe Evans can also show Graham how to play with a chip on his shoulder...assuming Graham isn't traded.
Peter must be a happy camper right now, lol.
I actually like this trade...Kapono didn't really pan out that well and I bet they bring in another guy that can shoot anyways. This also saves them a few million $'s.
DeRozan...
Is he the player we need, or the second coming of Joey Graham?
discuss.

good pick in a very weak draft. there's no one that will help the Raps right away, so why not go with a raw, athletic talent with a ton of upside?
I love that they pointed out he first dunked in GRADE 6, haha. crazy.
all this talk of him needing to improve his shot was intersting...because then it was pointed out that he was 60% from the floor in the 2nd half of the season. good. a player that realizes his game is to take it to the basket. what a refreshing change for the Raps!

We still desperately need a back up pg....maybe even as much as a good wing. Hopefully they swing some kind of trade to bring someone in or sign a vet.
so Detroit signs Ben Gordon and Charlie V. I guess that means Hamilton is outta there.
holy f**k would Rip ever look good in a Raps uniform...but unfortunately that's not really possible

National Post blog seems to hit on what (so far) seems like a reasonable scenario...still lots of 'ifs' in there and Colangelo is anything but predictable, lol.

| The Toronto Raptors are chasing Linas Kleiza, Shawn Marion Posted: July 01, 2009, 3:31 PM by Bruce Arthur As NBA free agency gets off to a slow start naturally, since nobody can officially sign for another week the Toronto Raptors are chasing two players of note at the moment: Denver forward Linas Kleiza, a gritty scorer who has rarely gotten the chance to play big minutes behind Carmelo Anthony. He's just 24, scores 16 points per 36 minutes for his career, hits threes, and has more toughness than any other Raptors small forward in recent memory. The other target is Shawn Marion, who is the key to all this. If the Raptors can re-sign the four-time All-Star, then they have a bundle of length and athleticism at the two and three positions, with rookie DeMar DeRozan slated to probably start at shooting guard. Toronto also expressed interest to Charlie Villanueva's people just after free agency opened at midnight Tuesday night, along with Kleiza, but the ex-Raptor seems destined for Detroit, along with former Connecticut teammate Ben Gordon. So the best-case scenario for the Raptors is this: Sign Marion at a reasonable price, add Kleiza for less than the full mid-level exception say, something between US$3-US$3.5-million per year bring Carlos Delfino back into the fold, and spend the rest of the mid-level on a solid point guard. And, at the end, have a team under the luxury tax that looks like this: PG Jose Calderon, unknown veteran, Roko Ukic SG DeRozan, Carlos Delfino, Quincy Douby SF Marion, Kleiza PF Bosh, Reggie Evans, Kris Humphries C Andrea Bargnani, Evans, Patrick O'Bryant, Nate Jawai Oh, and a bought-out Marcus Banks. Evans, Kleiza and Delfino would produce toughness in the second unit, along with the ability to throw shooting (Kleiza, Delfino) onto the floor when Marion and DeRozan can't make a jump shot, and rebounding (Evans) on to juice the level of physicality. It might not be enough for 50 wins, but it looks on paper like a better team than the group that slogged its way to 33 wins in 2008-09. If, of course, all this gets done. |
^^^^
still a big hole at the 2.
Delfino was a streaky shooter, DeRozan's a rook. Defense won't be solid from that spot either.
