I tried taking a photo from my floor of Queen's Park, but my building has all these little dots on windows that makes it really hard to take photos.
This was earlier, just imagine that all of Queen's Park filled with that many people so close together.

Here is some video.

damn, somebody better stop these terrorists soon from their plans of domination of the Sri Lanka nation... masquerading as desperate civilians trying to get help for their suffering peers and family back home
have we prepared enough planes yet to send them all back there where the Sri Lanka government promises to hear out their pleas and fix the situation???
and the plot thickens with a Sri Lankan Sinhalese counter-protest hmmm..... perhaps some of you won't have to do anything about the Tamils after all...........?

be it as it may, inconvenience or not, it seems like what the protesters are doing is working and garnering the attention of government officials..

another interesting article on the whole issue:
Tamils get in staid old city's face

Public mobilization does work, sometimes: NATO, pressed by Washington, intervened militarily in Serbia following the widespread ethnic cleansing of Muslim Kosovars; the economic boycott and global shunning of apartheid South Africa.
Sometimes, it doesn't work, to the international community's shame: Rwanda and Darfur.
Canada may not be able to do much but it can certainly do more in advocating a ceasefire in Sri Lanka that would allow humanitarian aid to reach thousands of trapped civilians.

I think blocking a hiway to get notice for human rights abuses and warcrimes is a wake up call and not a desperate act. The police blocked off the road. I have the feeling this was a planned occurence. I think people need to understand what the situation is like there, people arn't effected so they don't take notice, its just another part of the world that has a war going on. It is very real to these people with the family being killed in this violence. These people are not terrorists, those militants in the north are the remenants of a seperate state. The real terrorism is when they loose their land to an occupation, when subnational reality comes into being. It is a civil war to a certain extent. If they would only have constructive peace talks, but it seems Colombo is intent on controlling the entire area. While this seems like a plausable outcome because the Tamils are outnumber 4 to 1 or greater. The resolution is a minority group in a country that has been traditionally treated like second class citizens. This conflict is entering a new stage, but we should not abandon human rights or support war propaganda and lies to be spread. The truth, and human rights should be supported. Why do soilders need to shell a hospital, why not just take it? |

Notice Kennedy Commons has a massive parking lot & it's right right on the highway? I just hope I'm wrong about this ...
big enough parking lot to RIOT!!!
but only for like 1 hour i got soccer practice later that day
