Just booked our room at the Inn on Ferry Street. More midtown, but the place looks amazing, has received great reviews across the board, and they have a free shuttle service that will get us down to Hart Plaza each day.

edit: Hotels.ca = $100 of regular rate!

they still doin wemf in toronto??

Posted by PivotTechno on Apr-10-2010 14:33:

WEMF was never in Toronto, was always held somewhere relatively remote. The last one was held in 2008, then reintroduced as CEMF ("Cutting Edge") last year.

We're not uptight, we just like reading English and being able to understand what people are saying.

Alright, let me rephrase that. We prefer to read sentences that are written in (sub-)normal English. lol I say "sub-normal" b/c there's obviously some internet/short-form lingo that ppl use, but people don't substitute y's and z's...Oh hell, this is getting way too deep. Back to DEMF talk! haha

obviously the incoherent one from our drug-loving friend.
I am a little disappointed at this thread compared to some of the wmc threads. Not much actual useful info. Maybe there just isn't much announced yet? I've never done demf before, but I can already see it pales in comparison to wmc on the planning ahead factors...

Where is all of this lack of useful info?

Links of where to buy tickets
Partial lineups listed and more as it's being announced
After parties listed as they come about
Confirmation of Old Miami happening
Hotel discussion of what is still available and where most of the TOTAs are booking

I think that's an incredible amount of helpful info.

That being said, DEMF is a LOT smaller than WMC and is confined to one area with 4 or 5 stages that generally all play a variation of techno. Whereas WMC is spread out in south beach and involves a large number of big events at clubs with different genres of music. So yes, I would say it pales in comparison to WMC on the planning ahead factors.

Check out the first post and Sandeep has provided links to Paxxhau which is where you'll buy your tickets. The only real planning you have to do is book a hotel and buy your weekend pass. You don't really have to plan the party's you're going to b/c they're generally all at the same venue. After parties you can decide on once you get there.

Wow, you're easily inconvenienced.

What are you, some preening, nascent princess who still thinks she's 12 and that the world owes her something?

wow. that was enlightening. i'm not inconvenienced at all...your presumptions are not even remotely accurate. I certainly hope we get to meet at some point so you can properly assess whether or not i'm a 12 year old princess expecting the world to give me something...
Insert foot into mouth please.

I don't think you'll get much out of meeting me, as I'm a bit 'tarded myself.

What she said.

Ammora - DEMF isn't like WMC.

There is not the planning required.

You pretty much book your hotel, figure out how you are getting there, buy your festival tickets and the then figure out an after party or 2 to go to.

The after parties are smaller and really compliment the festival. The actual festival is the focus of DEMF.

Based on how you felt about Get Lost you will not like Old Miami. It is the exact same type of atmosphere. There will actually probably be almost all the same people - minus a few europeans.

hey i didnt say i disliked Get Lost i just wasn't prepared lol.
I'm persistent and would def give it another go now that I realize what it is...its another dimension.
Sketchbags are Sketchbags, and they're people too...given the proper place and time, its fun.
i was coming off no sleep and 3 consecutive days of hard partying by the time i hit Get Lost in miami...detroit won't be nearly as intense.
i'm liking the idea of lack of planning..just show up and roll with it.

I misinterpreted your review.

Just thought I would save you a trip.

If a major after party like the boat last year. You may want to get on getting presale tickets since it did sell out.
