dare I say that Xpander is not prog, but moreso just a different incarnation of trance? It sure wouldnt fit inside the sets that people are calling prog. And the melody is not very exciting either, the emotion it gives off reminds me of that fake happiness everyone pretends to have at funerals where they try to mask their grief by remembering a person's life.

I can listen to proton all day and never hear any of this prog that supposedly exists(as I have done many many times), its either this dark rumbling farting shit or stuff that would fit in a markus set. Of course there is the rare exception when someone plays something from another genre, but it all has this melancholy mood that I don't find conducive to an exciting happy party at all.

I imagine this station that you prog heads praise would have this awesome exciting sound out there since it is supposedly this great source for real progressive music. I find the meloncholy prog vibe to be very predicable and boring, despite how original the structure and sounsets are.

Dark, Progressive House

Wow, a thread that encompasses every single TA MD cliche that there is. Impressive.

Posted by Zombie0915 on Dec-22-2004 23:08:

thanks you dude, it took way too many pages, but that was all I was trying to get, I wont argue any more until I've heard a bunch of these tunes.

If you all were a little bit easier to get recomendations out of maybe the good sounds wouldnt be so damn hard to find.

If the end result of this thread was to try to show people some other forms of true prog, then maybe the thread title should have been somthing like: "If you like GDJB/ASOT Prog, then check out some of these other deeper prog tunes".

Insulting peoples intelligence because they listen to a certain style wasnt necessary if you were only trying to open peoples minds to other forms of prog.

Dude it shouldnt even be called MCPROG...consider it a favor that it has the word PROG IN IT.

We label it like that (MC=Markus Cheese) for little kids who think its "prog". They should be happy for that in the 1st place.

Kinda like little boys who go to mcdonalds...and want a big mac...

GIve them a smaller version of a meal-- Happy McMeal with McNuggets

bunch of bullshit from both sides

"McProg is Cheese, you should listen to real progressive, everything in ASOT/GlobalDJBC sucks and its mc prog blah blah blah"

"Mc prog is awesome, and its original. It dosent change style because people like it blah blah blah"

Ah thank you for the sweet memories - that one there is a great tune.

Posted by Solkanar512 on Dec-23-2004 19:55:

So for those of you folks who hate what they are hearing on GDJB/ASOT, why aren't you folks promoting other weekly shows? Why don't I see weekly threads for other artists you folks feel are contributing in a positive manner to trance music/EDM in general?

II mean, it's easy to say something is better or worse, but what about actually showing us what sounds good to you? Then the rest of us can see the difference, and make up our own minds. If that music is truly better, then shows such as these will only make your case stronger.

Because you'll most likely get answers such as:

"This is TRANCEaddict, not PROGaddict, this shit doesn't belong here "

"Prog is soooo boring, how can you listen to it for more than 10 minutes?"

The thread is still going?

Posted by Ory on Dec-23-2004 20:04:

There are no good radio shows.

Posted by rooibos on Dec-23-2004 20:07:

In an attempt to finish this off:

McProg sucks and underground progressive sucks. It's both cheese, repetative, and goes nowhere, no matter who the artist is.

ory, you should be exiled,

and aplz, gee, i wonder when you will blurt out more of those fun deragatory remarks, just crawl back from the dchub that you came from and while you at it go release some more tracks from the ammatuer forum, using such big and strong langueage coming from you requires a bigger internet penis

Posted by Ory on Dec-23-2004 20:24:

Someone's feeling alittle bitchy today, eh.

Word up. Now everyone piss off.

Posted by NiteMer on Dec-23-2004 20:45:

So I didn't get an answer. Would Luke Chable's four on the floor mixes be considered mcprog? Hernan Cattaneo? Tilt - The World Doesn't Know? If not, they all are prog with melodies, which is how you derivate McProg, right? I'm just curious. Anyone who thinks "Ride" is crap has shitty taste, IMO.

Posted by Ory on Dec-23-2004 20:50:

Ride has more credibility than most McProg/"real prog" tracks, but it still has an really simple and stupid melody.

Simplicity can sometimes lead to greatness. You know the acronym K.I.S.S.?

Keep it simple stupid. This can sometimes hold true to production. Depends on the track, of course.
