But Djs are not rockstars. I for one do not want to hear Flight 643 or Lethal Industry EVERY DAMN TIME and so far, he has played those two tracks EVERY DAMN TIME I've seen him. I don't know any other Dj who does that but that's Tiesto these days and I guess it's working for him. |
You know, 9 times out of ten I tend to agree with what you have to say. On this point, not so much. As in any performance art, especially budding ones. Showing a seemingly never ending and steadily increasing market that shows no signs (quite to the contrary) of slowing up, will and always will fire till it burns out. Just like anything else. Perhaps your too close or something but pal, look up from time to time cause unless a "DJ/Producer" (which have remained industry perpetuated labels, half by default and half out of it's implied humbillity) keeps themselves underground like say Cox, Nostrum, Captain Tin Rib...etc The well oided machine of western capitalism will and always will, leave them trying to achieve. Like a ride you only half want to get off. ie: Moby, Oakenfold (who deftly past the torch to Tiesto via the whole 'Delirium' grandstand) Orbital and believe it or not, 'Crystal Method'. One little electronica step away to super "rock star" type legends as Tangerine Dream (who were featured on like 90% of the teen to middle aged movies and T.V. comercials back in the 80's) and Talk Talk whom while maintaining there dark underground-esque status were colossi marketing giants. Not too far off from Moby and seemingly where Tiesto is headed. Who has nesled himself suspiciousely close to hollywood these days. ie: Moby spun at the closing ceremonies preceding the games that Tiesto opened and made another million or two off that release. Both electronica based "DJ's" with, granted, only 2 or 3 billion of there closest friends watching...History repeats...going full circle blah blah.........Face it dude, that's what rock stars do. At the level that live mixing has risen to in such a short period of time to the point that the average kick stepper can't do at home in the basement.......I hate to say the "R" word again....

don't just close it...blow the whole damn thing up and wipe it off the face of the internet never to be seen again by mankind....let aliens find it ten thousand years from now when Tiesto has finally lost his hold on the EDM world.
