actually, the armin mix of walhalla is amazing... and i hate armin! it has a very 'trancy' feel to it and is a fantastic alternative to the already strong-but-cheesy original.

very uplifting in the old school way. the bassline is boss and the break is fucking beautiful... certainly, it isn't an underground sound, but i'd check it out before dismissing it!

also, the hybrid remixes are outstanding... echoplex remix and dub.

the hybrid remix is very atmospheric and murky, and has an mesmerising underwater oxygen effect through it, a great piece.

wow killer remix i was completely unaware of it... i don't like Armin mix, i like his old remixes a lot but he killed the track in my opinion, bassline is very cool but i prefer the synth on the original... well this is the worst gouryella track for me i don't like it really. With the bassline of "gouryella-gouryella" and its hats would have been better.

My favorite miles away is this hybrid remix, this is actually a remix, completely different than the original.

Let's bump this one before the year ends.

What a beautiful track this is, for sure would have become a classic when released in the 90's:

Not sure about this whole "real trance" thing, but I'll post some tracks I like.

Not entirely sure if it's trancey, but it's one of my favorites:

Why do you post them in a thread called Real Trance if you doubt they are...? I don't get it.

Posted by Redd on Nov-16-2013 00:13:

fucking hell, embedding 100 youtube vids kills the thread

One of the best trance tracks ever created, my definition of pure trance, melodic, driving, atmosphere..

Astral Projection - One

Canyon made some nice tracks in the 90's like Purple Phaze. I was surprised to find that 99 version of Universe from 2010, I love it:

classic rubez thread. it will never be duplicated.

Posted by rubez on Sep-23-2014 12:24:

ah yes.

here is some real trance for ya.

I miss those really amateur sounding Trance tracks from the 90's. The production is so rough and barebones.

Real trance to me is melodic, uplifting and inspiring. These are two tracks from back in the day that catapulted me into the trance scene. It's hard to find such brilliant compositions nowadays.

Airwave - LadyBlue

Paul van Dyk - Another Way (Club Mix)

Cheers!

That is among one of the last Trance vinyl purchases I was proud to take off the shelf. The one with Original Beat and 1992 Flight mixes.

But IMO other tracks on that compilation were better, like the Canyon one at the previous page: http://www.discogs.com/Various-Tran.../release/197091

Not that it isn't real trance though, but for some reason I never listened it a lot back in 1997.

Posted by rubez on Oct-08-2014 18:53:

Me neither, i was more into Dream Universe and Starparty at the time.
I see it more as a hidden gem. Like this one also.

and this one.

So many great tracks from this period of time, Trance was a lot of fun when it didnt know what it wanted to be.

Nice one for sure!!

Over the past 1,5 years there has been plenty more of this melodic progressive stuff being released, mostly on 'small' labels which still keep it quite real and aren't influenced by too much mainstream sounds

For example, the tunes I played in the 1st hour of this mix:
