Aug. 29th/30th Sat. night/Sun. morning NYC's exclusive after hours party continues this weekend with Damien Ford and Danielle Nicole!
This SoHo club is New York's first eco-friendly nightlife destination, with a two level lounge area.
The 6,000-square-foot space has a an amazing sound system and is decorated beautifully! Eight varieties of colorful leaves cover the walls, lending a natural woodland feel to the club. There 5,000 individually hung crystals above the upstairs dance floor which is designed to emulate a rolling landscape. The downstairs lounge is very cozy and intimate. Overall it's great place to let yourself go.
The door at times can be a little selective so RSVP and arrive properly.

| Originally posted by Chaska Let's hope he plays a decent place in DC next time What a bust Ultrabar was that night. That place is the reason why I hate DC. I used to go to Panorama events all the time, and now that they don't recognise me because I haven't been there in about 3 years, they pull off the douchebag "You are nobody" attitude. Hopefully the scene in DC improves (like it has been lately) so other promoters step up to the plate and give Panorama a run for their money. |
I'm sorry too. Unfortunately some of the people who work there don't know what the f*ck they are doing and piss off good people. The upside is that those people generally don't end up working there for very long. We have been with Ultrabar for about 3 years now and have become the goto guys on EDM nights.
Hit me or Christauff up on Facebook anytime you want to come out to a Panorama event and I assure you that type of nonsense will not happen again.

| Originally posted by Chaska I appreciate you guys responded. I was on DI's list that night, which was advertised as free before 11. I get to the door @ 10:40 and the line was ridiculous (later I found out about the asshats from the Real World being there, so I understood the reason of the clusterf*ck), but managed to make it to the front of the line. I got a $5 off card (it was still 10:50) and then a promoter that I didn't recognise told me it was $30 to get in (with the card). Another thing was that people pretend not to know you when I've been going to Glow and other Panorama parties every week for years when I lived in DC. I'm not saying by any means that I deserve preferential treatment, but at least a little courtesy was due with a "Hello" without the attitude. I'm saying this because the experience at the door is so important for a patron, and how somebody is welcomed sets the tone for the overall experience. They might not be hired by Panorama, but the impression caused will always reflect on the hosts of the party. No harm done though, I still had fun that night, but elsewhere. I will definitely hit one of you guys up next time I decide to come by, will prob be for Joris. Thanks! |

Cielo : September 2009 News
Staten Island comes to Cielo on Thursday September 3rd as Dance.Here.Now present a night of twisted tribal goodness in the hands of the highly talented and equally accomplished Richie Santana & Peter Bailey. Santanas no stranger to the club scene having starting DJing at the ripe old age of 13, before being taken under the wings of Anthony Acid and Brutal Bill in the studio to hone his production skills. The results lead to a string of acclaimed remixes for the likes of Faithless, Amber, Aaliyah, Funky Green Dogs and Donna Summer, along with acclaimed productions with long time friend, and fellow DJ, Peter Bailey. With over a decade of spinning in New York, Baileys sound can range from tough tribal to deep sexy house and encompassing almost everything in between. So whos up for a night of some seriously mind-enveloping underground tripped out tech-etched grooves?
Friday 4th finds Dance Tracks Digital, Brooklyns hippest on-line retail music store, present a night of the citys hottest new music. Dave Pezzner, Brendon Moeller and Ij Catling are on hand to supply an eclectic soundtrack of dub-techno-rock-jazz-afro-psychedelica, adhering to their anything goes ethos. Up until 2008 Seattles Dave Pezzner was virtually unknown to the electronic dance music community, until Londons hip Freerange label showcased his production savvy and let the rest of us hear what John Digweed, Laurent Garnier, Peter Kruder and Ben Watt already knew. Conversely New York-based South African, Brendon Moeller has been producing since 1994 with his compositions finding homes on a wealth of uber cool imprints including Francois K's Deep Space imprint. Whether its serious dancefloor grooves or dubbed out bass-scapes, his music always possesses a quality and signature thats helped make him the force he is today. Expect an effervescent musical mix of some of the finest tracks around.
We could give you a hundred reasons why you should be at Cielo for Freedom on Sunday 6th. Instead we just need to give you one: Junior Vasquez. A dance icon thats been at the forefront of the New York club culture since the 80s, hes amassed more hits and chart topping remixes on the Billboard Club chart then any other. Never one to disappoint, Vasquezs epic sets are an adrenaline inducing energized mix of the new, the old, and the extraordinary, that is quintessentially Junior.
Theres a bona fide Grammy Award winner in the house on Thursday 10th as Dance.Here.Now welcomes from the Floridian sun New Yorker Hex Hector. Scan Hexs discography, and the credits are a staggering list of iconic ladies of dance: Madonna, Aretha Franklin, Whitney Houston, Janet Jackson, Mariah Carey, Donna Summer, Mary J. Blige, Britney Spears and Jennifer Lopez are just a fraction of the divas to receive his Midas touch. His restyling of Lopezs blockbuster remix of Waiting For Tonight earning him the coveted Grammy in 2001 from which hes not looked back, unleashing classic after classic and holding residencies at legendary New York hot spots like the Tunnel, Limelight, Palladium, Sound Factory Bar, and Danceteria since coming on top the club scene in the early 90s.
A regular guest at Cielo and all round good guy, Marques Wyatt is generally regarded by those in the know as an architect of the cool, stylish and deep. One of the true founding-fathers of West Coast house returns to Cielo and Deep on Friday 11th for a celebration of the soul, funk and jazz thats inspired the innovative DJ from the City of Angels. Wyatt creates eclectic and sensuous sets that meld euphoric soulful house with organic Balearic grooves, supple electronic textures and percussive Afro-Latin rhythms, blending the best of the past with future classics.
John Julius Knight is best known for a string of dancefloor hits, including All I Do (Cleptomaniacs feat. Bryan Chambers), Give It Up (Eminence feat. Kathy Brown) and under his own name, the Soulfuric classic, Find A Friend. Both as a solo artist and with long-term Cleptomaniacs partner Brian Tappert, JJK has produced and remixed for the likes of AM:PM, Strictly Rhythm, Defected, CR2 and Z Records. While as a DJ, he can regularly be found spinning in such far off places as Australia, Brazil, Japan, Dubai and Ibiza, but on Saturday 12th the man from Brooklyn returns home as special guest of Paradizo.
Weve a sizzling night of Danish electronica on offer on Thursday 17th as Cielo presents two of Scandinavias most accomplished producers and hardest working DJs, Trentemller & Kasper Bjorke. Anders Trentemller loves to create juxtapositions in his music and so the contrast between large and vast echo chambers and sharp, direct in-your-face sound bits are characteristic of his sound. Coupled with some outstanding production skills, the Danish producer has become one of the most in demand producers since his 2006 debut, The Last Resort, was widely acknowledged by the dance press as one of the top albums of the year. Kasper Bjorke is similarly at the heart of the thriving Copenhagen electronic scene recently picking up a Danish Music Award as Best Producer, for his Filur alias, with Get Physicals Tomas Barfod. Kasper is currently completing his second album thats set for an early 2010 release on the new HFN Music imprint.
After discovering dance music through the rave scene as a teenager in the mid-90s, Jamie Jones bought his first decks and taught himself to mix, although no one would listen. His big life transition came when he decided go on holiday to Ibiza and spend the season working there. There they more then listened. In a few short years he would make the legendary Space Terrace his own and pick up a residency at Manumission. Describing his style he says: I try and create a bouncy, dubby groove, using electronic deep house and techno. Im also very into moody Detroit style stuff, so theres always some emotion too. Hear why the Crosstown Rebels recording artist is one of the hottest names on the scene today as the Made Event present Jamie Jones on Thursday 24th.
San Franciscos Dave Dresden is fast making Cielo his second home, and he returns to close out summer on Friday 25th by headlining the Made Event. For the last 15 years hes committed himself to music with a career spanning every aspect of the industry, working as a DJ, journalist, A&R, radio music director, and remixer. A master at weaving prog-house grooves that are cool enough for the serious heads, yet muscular enough to generate some much-needed street appeal, Dresdens sets similarly mix n match the new with the old, and the underground with the crossover.
Michel Cleis La Mezcla has just been a stable part of many DJs sets at Cielo since it first appeared in Miami. An epic rambling masterpiece based on the Colombian folk sounds of Tot La Momposina y sus Tambores, its been supported by a diverse array of DJs including Ricardo Villalobos, Laidback Luke, Louie Vega and Erick Morillo. La Mezcla is, as they say, the authentic real deal. Cleis, the Chilean-Swiss techno troubadour has been caning the track almost exclusively in his sets for about a year, although you may not know it by name, chances are youve lost it many times already on the dancefloor to the songs hypnotic charm. Michel Cleis joins resident bad boy Nicolas Matar on Saturday 26th to show hes certainly no one-hit-wonder.
And finally least we forget the backbone to Cielo during the month, our weekly nights Roots and Deep Space with hosts Louie Vega and Kevin Hedge, and Francois K respectively. Roots every Wednesday finds Masters At Work impresario Louie Vega and Kevin Hedge of the legendary Blaze providing the perfect soundtrack to ease you through hump day. While Francois Monday night soiree features a trio of guests joining the FK dub poet extraordinaire Mutabaruka joins him on Labor Day (7th); TrusMe, Manchesters answer to Detroits techno pioneers guests on the 21st and Mala of South Londons Digital Mystikz, forerunners in the burgeoning dub-step scene rounds things off on 30th.
