The reason it appears that there is not as much planning as WMC threads is that primarily most of this thread are Toronto people, Southern Ontario people, Windsor people and some Detroit peeps.
It's close, (right across the river, 15mins for me), 4 hour drive from Toronto... so transportation is not a huge deal.
So besides making sure you got a ticket, the days booked off work, some spending money put aside and a general idea of what kind of fun or who you want to see while you're there... you're done planning.
If you're planning on staying, grab a hotel...
Like other people have said, it's all in one are, the afterparties are flyered and announced there too.. and we post speculations, rumours, confirmations, etc. of the after parties.
Not to mention, most here are DEMF vetrans and it's been done so many times, DEMF just happens... don't know how to explain it.
But if it's your first time... enjoy! It's a helluva experience.
And if something is not posted or help you were looking for, i'm sure you're mature and adult enough to simply ask for whatever informtion/details you need.
Last years TOTA DEMF thread....
For more information like what to wear, bring, buy, etc...
awesome reply, thanks.
i'm looking forward to some dirty good fun with good people and even better music.
just didn't know if i was missing something b/c it seemed almost too easy...sometimes lack of planning makes me nervous, but since thats the general rule in DEMF,

I have a question for you DEMF veterans. Need a little advice as it's my first time going to Detroit.
I found a place I'm getting a really good deal on that is a couple of blocks away from Comerica Park. Is that absolutely too ridiculously far from everything? Are cabs really expensive/hard to get/not worth the trouble?

| Originally posted by *~LiSa-LoO~* Definitely not walking distance. Well it is, but it's like a 25 minute walk and you wouldn't want to be doing that at night. Cabs aren't hard to get at all, so that wouldn't be a problem. But do you really want to go through all that hassle? It'd be a pain in the butt too if you want to leave the festival for a bit and come back. IMO you're better off finding something closer. |
It's a little bit of a nightmare to find a place now, and I def do not intend to pay $150/night for a room. The place I'm looking at is an apt that accomodates 6 and the price per night is under $100. Is the distance still a deal breaker?

| Originally posted by *~LiSa-LoO~* It's really your personal preference. If you're fine with taking a $10 cab all the time, then go for it. The price sure sounds goods, and the fact that it's apartment style is nice too. My recommendation would just be to take cabs, don't walk. At least at night. During the day you may be okay...just got to feel it out when you get there (even ask at the front desk). I'd say to see if you can find some reviews on the hotel as well (especially if it's not a household name chain). |
I think I might go ahead and book it.

| Originally posted by Chaska I'm ok with the cabs, I live in Manhattan, hehe. It's not a hotel either, it's a loft in an apt building that a friend that lives in Grand Rapids occasionally stays at. I like the fact that I could cook for myself (and whoever wants to stay with us) and don't have to search for food (there is a grocery store 2 blocks away). Thx Lisa I think I might go ahead and book it.edit: the price per night is for the apt, not per person. That's why I'm not worried about the cab fares. It's actually very close to the Majestic. |

Hotel afterparties FTW! Exactly 50 days left |

Kinda tough having ppl over now that I'm living with my in-laws.
not sure if it's been posted yet, but according to their myspace, dOP will be on the beatport stage on the 31st
