Forty of 10.1% Molson Dry and OJ, pretty fucking drunk for $6.. then you buy a few beers when you're inside to keep the buzz going. It's really not that bad when you hold on to your cup, $3.75 a beer is reasonable. Another solid idea, wear cargo shorts and leave the cooler in your car. Go back to the car with a bunch of friends with cargo shorts, and stuff 4 beers in each of their pairs of pants, chug a few at the car, and enjoy.. we've done that, they don't even look at you when you flash your bracelet. Friend of mine came up with another cool idea.. buy a huge thick loaf of bread, carve out all the dough on the inside and put a 26oz of hard A inside the bread, and have some pieces of meat hanging out and disguise it as a sandwich. Just make sure it's at the bottom of whatever kind of cooler you're brinign in so they don't pick it up. |
Piknic was never about drinking for me. It was a beautiful setting, good music, and an upbeat comfortable crowd that liked to party within reasonable limits. Thank God the setting hasn't changed at least.

They had victor one year and I don't think they want to go in the drug fueled music zone. They just want happy uplifting beach music! |

| Originally posted by epicaricacy it isn't so much that i am cheap, as other than the secret sundaze (which i couldn't go to)...piknic has booked acts for weird 15 year old sketchpads. |
Bender, Christian Pronovost, Dave Aju, Mini, the Eresys Crew, Fancyfhreek, FM Radio Gods, Fu Ancko, Ghostbeard, Giles Smith, Green & Lateez, Greg Pidcock, Hakim Guelmi, Jeff Fontaine,Justin Martin, Konrad Black, Kressel, Krill.minima, Le Boucher, Mateo Murphy, Mono-poly, Monsieur Seb, Mossa, Noze, Nicolas Jaar, Ostrich, Olivier St Germain, Sounshaper, Seb Fauteux, Vincent Lemieux, X-Cube.....
How is that 15 year old music?
The beauty of Piknic is that they offer music that caters to a younger crowd as well as music that caters to a more mature audience. Stating that they cater only to the young crowd is plain wrong.
let me rephrase then.
the only act that has interested me all year (so far, the best is obviously left to come) was the secret sundaze, which i coulsd not go to. The acts that they booked are good, but aren't worth it to me to put up with the romper room crowd.
piknic is an awesome brand with nowhere to go but up (i will even say that the brand has eclipsed playground who can't sell tickets to events to save their life...bal en blanc excluded of course). That being said, this year's lineup lacked the "ooomph" of the previous years to me.
just because i won't make the long trek for acts that do not interest me, does not mean no one else should.
better?
there is Definatley some Good Books forsure this year; July Looked Ugly! I Get the 15 Year sketch pad Comment though. Noticed most good days, are crammed tightly mostly on the same day. Last week was one of the better ones..
Last year there was some Nice Dingers in there....Villabobos, Voorn, Hawtin, Burridge, Wink...
Despite some of the Off Music Days, Still have a great time.
Hard to not have fun, I like to think of it as a Healthier Choice
Best Venue in the City Imo.
Salon Daome's got a tight Continuing Party Happening afterwards;
