Old pic already. Still the same setup but other things have changed a lot.

I haven't used any other setup yet but I've had a lot of fun with the stuff I already have.

I see your 62 and raise you a 92!
lol.. nice little set up. I hate seeing the cdj 800's always makes me wanna invest in a pair! but then i think i'd start using my techs less and less.
Here's a good question for you so.
A person with a setup that includs serato. So in effect using mp3's etc. Adds some cdj's to their set up.
Do they A) continue using their turntables (serato..).
B) Stop using their turntables (serato) as they now have cdj's.
or C) Use both as serato enables them to use songs alongside a cdj while the cdj will enable the dj to use the extra features which a cdj provides?
I'm not sure if you'd need noth on a set up if you were using serato. Normal vinyl obviously would require the turntable but if you're only using serato on your turntables...
It's just a scenario that's been running through my head.

Well nelly, I’ve never had vinyl. My friend does, I played with his equipment, but then chose to take the CDJ route as overall it was cheaper. I got my CDJs for the same price as a tech12, and music is much more affordable. For you, if you already have your turntables and serato, I would stick with it. I have a friend who swears by serato, esp if you are used to the feel of vinyl.
However if you ever want to move your decks, then CDJs are a breeze. We moved all that equipment in a 2 door Toyota echo – no probs. Door to door in under an hour, where as tables are heavy, and then you need to bring a laptop.
All in all, CDJs I find are cheaper (music wise, maintenance wise (needles, cartridges etc)), but if you really like the feel of vinyl then stick with it.
But since it seems you have both cdjs and a serato setup, why not offload one and make some cash. Or sell the tables and upgrade your cdjs, 800 mk1s are coming down in price a bit.
edit: i now see that you dont yet have CDJs.
get just one - like a 200 (with the loop feature), and that should be sweeeeeet.

Nice reply.. i get what you mean. Not sure i'd want to go the route of the 200, but maybe a single 800.
To be honest i think i'm more scared of getting a cdj as i don't want to prefer it! After all the effort i put into my setup. (which btw, i'm completely satisfied by!)
However i've always been curious to have a go on some cdj's as i've never messed around on them
But yeh maybe one deck is the answer to this situation.
turntables on my table (dunno if you've seen it, it's done the rounds on here) and then build an arm on the right for the laptop and an arm on the right for a cdj..
Hmmm.. have to stop thinking like this, i'm saving up to go to australia in a year!!!! (damn it! temptation!)
lol anywho..

since you already have the ability to use mp3s, and a sick setup as is, i would forgo the CDJ (all its really giving you is loops, cue-ing and a reverse switch). esp since you're goin to aus, spend the $500-800 there instead, and when you come back, rethink the CDJ.
money like that is better spent on more fun in the land down under.

my friend will bring his two 1200 mk2s and we will have more speakers.
against the backdrop of the cn tower and all the tall buildings, i cant wait to take some killer pictures.

lol you'd be the third user of this serato box as i got it off Basstard! Not that there's anything wrong with the box, hence i'm keeping it
Cheers for the input simms, i know you're right but the problem is once you start saving for these big round the world trips your bank account starts to look really healthy!
Healthy in the sense that i could buy most people's dream set ups on here. But you know you have to keep the money for another cause.
lol, imagine if my plans fell through and i had 6000 euro to spend on equipment!
!
Anyway, (by the way not sure what you mean by reverse switch, but if you mean play songs in reverse then you can do that with serato
)
Cheers again,
nelly

^^ didnt know you could do that with serato..
6000 euro - sweet fack
i couldnt spend 6000 euro, thats like 9000 canadian dollars...
i could buy 3 CDJ1000 mk3s, a DJM800/xone62, incredible monitors, amps, and PAs... and still have enough for a week in the caribean...
but spend it in oz... the memories and expereinces will last far longer than the equipment
i was in that situation. i had cash last summer, but went to europe for a month and a half, way better than new setup!

Couldn't get a good top-down shot without going to some effort, but I'm sure you all know what they look like.

Im already in love with the fact that %100 of my pay can go to equipment and vinyls.
