I guess this whole incident would sit better with me had a very, very similar US cabinet not supported Saddam's rise to power, supplied it with chemical and biological weapons, military intellignece, etc. While I, in every way, wish to see jackasses like Saddam Hussein fall from power, I abhore the powers here (HWBush, Rummy, Cheney, Wolfowitz, etc.... ) that allowed him to come to power and stay in power. Now they are basically cleaning up the mess that they made in the first place. The downfall of Saddam (the end), doesn't justify the means (war), though. And the fact that they are costing thousands of lives to clean up this mess in no way justifies their right to govern a liberated Iraq. I almost voted for Bush in 2000 (shame on me) because he was claiming that he whould take America's ass out of foreign affairs, such as this. I can see that was an obvious lie. The saddest thing of all, though, is that our soldiers who are risking their lives cleaning up the mess get practically nothing out of it, while sociopathic business owners get to reap the profits unfetteredly.

This war was to finish off what they had started in '91. Bush Sr. couldnt do it, so Jr. will do it for him. besides, saddam shouldnt be in power anyways.

you obviously missed the whole point of bush's address to the nation after 9/11. he said we would root out threats to the US, specifically those based on terror REGARDLESS of who it is, be it ossama and al-qaeda or whole countries that harbour or aid terrorism. a threat is a threat regardless of where it comes from. we are not only going specifically after those that committed 9/11 but after those who have the power to cause another 9/11. Bush, as did I, saw iraq as a threat, therefore the issue needed to be resolved.
